    The "Thunderbolt Cable" is Thunderbolt 2 to Thunderbolt 2. Don't get a Thunderbolt 3 cable. I didn't realize this until I saw him plug the cable and adapter into the computers - the adapter plugs into the Macbook and the cable plugs into the iMac, meaning that cable has to be a Thunderbolt 2 cable.

As soon as the link is made, i cannot use them, or i would really enjoy using my lapto closed and the big screen of the imac instead, with the mouse and keyboard. Any tips ? Thank you again !

  • @anthonymann2061
    @anthonymann2061 4 года назад +2

    does the resolution on the imac lower because its an extension or is it the same. Also is the mac book running harder to run two machines. I will be using premiere pro from mac book so will be pretty heavy performance.

    • @mcrotk
      @mcrotk 4 года назад +1

      It's possible that your keyboard settings are such that you need to hit 'fn' along with 'F2' for it to behave as F2 (rather than to make the screen brighter), so first try Command+fn+F2 before looking at more complicated problems/solutions.

Both are genuine Apple accessories. As I hit the Shift + F2 button, the display in the iMac blanks out. I hit Shift + F2, the original iMac display comes back. Can you help pls.

    Hello! I have these exact same models (excep instead of a 27" it's a 21") My iMac uses Catalina and the MacBook Pro Monterey. Instead of using a Thunderbolt cable and a Thunderbolt to usb C adapter, I am using a Thunderbolt to HDMI adapter, an HDMI cable and a HDMI USB C adapter. (I know it's a more complex connection but it is what I have at home) I am not being able to make it work as a display. What could it be? I read somewhere that iMacs only work as a display monitor if they have High Sierra or earlier, but I think it was just an old post. Any help is welcome!! Thanks

      It works. Here’s the thing. You need to check the labels of the adapter and the thunderbolt to thunderbolt. If you see a lightning bolt label on the adapter and/or the thunderbolt to thunderbolt, then it won’t work. Apple products don’t make those anymore. You need to buy it from a different company. Make sure it says that it supports (MiniDisplay Port) or just (MiniDisplay)

    Can a cinema display be daisy-chained to the iMac to create a dual monitor setup that's run by the MacBook? Thanks in advance.
