Dude, thanks for the awesome instructional videos. I have a 2005 Mercury/Mariner 25 HP 2 stroke and these vids have been a huge help. It looks like you got after it and lost some LB's and buffed up! Keep up the great work!
I have an old 30deo. Wondering how it could hold any pressure when it has a breather tube. When i dropped lu there was no tube not even a tail just a threaded hole blocked solid with salt. I have cleared it & fiited the tube. I was thinking with no breather when air in box got hot it was pushing shift rod seal up
Really appreciate your videos. I have a 2012 -15hp 2-stroke that is getting water in the lower unit. I grabbed it in Canada, when they were getting out of 2-strokes! Everything is identical to 2006 motors. I am going to do a full water pump assembly change as per your other video. Any chance you would do a video on changing the prop shaft seal? If it is the prop shaft seal, do I just need to change the big O-ring on the Bearing Carrier? Or do I need a full seal kit of some kind? Keep up the great videos!
I have a very low hour 1989 murcury 20hp two stroke I believe I have a leak I’ve done the water pump a few times so I know how to take the lower off is there any so special tools needed to re seal the lower unit I plan on changing all the seals drive shaft prop shaft and shifter shaft they are all original and probably just old and dry not sealing well
did this test and passed. But still get water intrusion. I heard that spinning the prop by hand while doing this test will give you a better result. Whats your thoughts on that?
Sweet I just got my first boat and I am poor so I do stuff cheap can I use a compressor and just spray soap water or is there a old school way to check this I just spent all my money

Great video, thank you, one correction, the pressure needs to hold for 10 seconds (from 100 hp Yamaha Service Manual)

Sounds like you have a bent prop shaft.

Do not use a air compressor you risk blowing all the seals out.
What if I discover the leak coming from around the prop shaft housing?
oil seal leak
I have gear oil leaking out one of the bottom holes on my nissan 40 2stroke.
Whats up with that?
Drive shaft seal?
