Fred I'm glad you brought up wearing gloves when working with metal. I've had several stitches from not wearing gloves. I learned after the second visit to urgent care.

Those "tractor style" tow bars look very familiar to me. When I was a little kid on the farm in Minnesota, we had drop-pin hitches on most of the implements - chisel plows, moldboard plows, cultivators, etc. Since some of the land we farmed was owned/rented up to 8 miles away from home, it would take a long time to drive a tractor at 15 or so miles per hour to get out and do field work. Also a 130 or 150 horsepower tractor plowing a 160 acre field could be a multi-day affair. So towing a farm truck saved mom or a helper having to come out and pick you up for lunch, supper, or running to town, even if you could reach someone on the CB radio.
At the time, our farm truck with the bumper hitch was a 1967 Ford F100 2wd, 289 V8, 4spd, long bed. That truck hauled a lot, including a 100 gallon diesel tank behind the cab. Lots of great memories.

yes, we had the same on our farm. I didn't scrap the hitch, just put it in the corner for some future project. or maybe I need a tractor to tow it with some day.

Honestly, it looks good for a farm Jeep. If I didn't know it was cut out I would probably overlook it on first glance. Farm Jeeps are cool. I've seen several with 5th wheels in the back there was worked hard and put away wet.

the seam is also usually hardened from the welding process, so if your drilling, i always try to make the seam something i don't have to drill if possible. grinder sparks also will embed in glass so be careful when grinding near vehicles/shop windows. good video Fred!!

Well I can say from first hand experience rebuilding that T90 & Spicer 18 is about as simple as it gets. Drain the oils and let us see if it's oil or rusty mud because water contamination seems to be pretty common on these old jeeps and then you've got to hunt down NOS gears

Kinda looks like faded Detroit diesel alpine green . Love the flat fender / old jeep projects keep em coming, you need to do a shop tour soon , you may think its dusty or cluttered but I would love all that space and lift . It sure beats the single car Garage I’ve been working out of for the past 25 years.

Hey Fred, in the last video you had mentioned that you can still get those 16 inch "stock" looking wheels from omix on the cheap, I couldn't find any on their site, and I tried hunting them down and every repro wheel goes for at least 100 bucks, any places to check you know of?
