    We have no reason to assume that ripping his wing off wasn’t painful. That was almost certainly a biological wing that was attached to him. It was covered in black feathers that fell as he took one too many direct hits to one of them. That was a real, functioning wing. Raven beak _tearing the other one off_ almost certainly was excruciating, probably moreso than the wave beam shot that took the other one off, since I imagine that was just an instant of pain and a clean separation, rather than *YANKING THE WING OUT, BONE INCLUDED.* You heard that snap. That was bone _and muscle._ He showed no signs of pain because he’s the apex of what a Chozo warrior is. He doesn’t show pain. Pain is nothing to him. He’s that strong. He’s utterly terrifying. He is also definitely not holding me hostage.

      The wings could've also been part of his suit, but then again... why would I want to come to that conclusion when there's a FAR MORE BADASS ALTERNATIVE?
      According to Metroid lore, the Chozo lost their wings long ago, but I don't think that's ever explained. Which means Samus not only faced off against the most powerful Chozo alive, possibly to have ever been, but also the last known Chozo who still had their wings intact.

    They definitely made Raven Beak sinister enough, staying out of sight and plotting in the shadows, much like Emperor Palpatine in his prime. He also disposes of allies that are no longer useful, again like Palpatine.
    And fighting him, it was one of the most frustrating battles in all Metroid history. With Mother Brain, you couldn't tell if you were even hurting her before she unloaded with her Laser Brain Attack. But you *knew* Raven Beak was being hurt, one wing was blasted off and he ripped off the other. Then he's *finally* driven to his knees, but turns it around before you can finish him off. And Samus couldn't drain him at first because his armor made him immune to Metroid powers, she had to shatter his helmet and actually touch his skin to drain him. And even after finally bring driven onto his back and enduring the crash of his flying citadel, he was still alive. Man, *no* other enemy has given Samus this kind of trouble, this definitely puts her deadbeat dad at the very top of the list. And it'll be hard for another enemy to surpass him, not after everything he did.

    I really like that backstory of this character, even if it part of the defunct and wise Chozo civilization. Throughout the history of the games, the Chozon are portrayed as the benevolent race of wise aliens that aid Samus through her journey.
    Like any other alien species, they have allies and enemies as well. They also have caste system from laborers to soldiers, to scientists and diplomats. ZDR is a stronghold, most likely a military installation used by the Chozo to carry out their conquest and thirst for knowledge of the galaxy itself.
    I remember that Luminoth lore that said "Through vigilance and strength we create peace." or something like that meaning the establishment of a military presence is necessary to break or keep the peace.
    Looking at the Bryyonian repticulus species, you can tell that after their "Age of Schism" "Friends from the stars tried to end the conflict to no avail." which means that either the Luminoth or Chozo sent their warriors and diplomats to act as mediators to negotiate peace for Bryyo.
    Raven Beak acting as a warlord for the Chozo might had also visited Bryyo after the "Age of Schism" to either train, fight or simply negotiate with the Repticulus Primals.
    Usually negotiation at the military level is done by a high ranking official, and in this case Raven Beak was that official sent by the Chozo Elders of the Mawkin tribe to settle the Repticulus Primals to no avail.
    This all my theory, but I strongly believe the Chozo are so involved in many conflics across the galaxy.

Apparently on the final state, there are two docked ships on your approach but once you go into the escape the planet phase, they're gone at that point. One had suggested the possibility that he left behind a clone of his own as a failsafe, just in case he underestimated Samus. To be fair I can understand why he would make that kind of error considering that only the X have been able to thwart his ambitions.

      It's also not impossible that he simply had himself backed up on a save station of his own. I mean, Samus has herself die and come back via save stations, so it's possible that when he got infested with Kraid-X and blasted to nothing by Metroid Samus, he was simply reborn in one of those. Samus was only in real danger when she got infected because she wasn't near any save stations while flying in her ship.

    **SPOILERS FOR METROID DREAD**
    If you're here you probably don't care about spoilers / have already played the game but still thought I should warn you, just in case. This was one of the best games I've ever played, I loved the ending with Raven Beak calling Samus his "daughter" because his genes were transferred to her when she was young, the realization too that Adam, the seemingly only thing you could trust on that planet turned out to be none other than Raven Beak himself. It was amazing putting together the pieces that Raven Beak was pulling the strings the entire time, every encounter, every boss, every E.M.M.I. was carefully and methodically put in your path specifically to test your skills and awaken the Metroid DNA. Raven Beak was a leader of a fallen tribe, and what is amazing about his character is that, any other person in his position might've become depressed or think they failed as a leader, but he didn't even care, no remorse, even as he sends the Robot Chozo Warriors and puts the X Chozo Soldiers in your path it becomes obvious that he only views what happened to his tribe as a setback, and nothing more.

    Another thing, raven beak contained the x after events of super. We know this because the mawkin were on zebes during super metroid as they rescued kraid and even captured draygon's corpse. The implication is that Samus got Chozo DNA at separate times in her life, based on what little we know. When Samus was taken from K-2L to Zebes at age 3, she was given Thoha DNA so that she could survive the planet's harsh environments. The manga, canon or not, tells us that Samus couldn't survive outside of Brinstar without that DNA. The imagery near the end of Zero Mission puts her in Chozodia at one point, and unlockable images from Fusion/Zero Mission in Japan (as well as the manga) put Samus running around Zebes as a child; so she must have gotten that Thoha DNA from Gray Voice, pictured in both ZM and Dread before then. In my opinion, it is LIKELY that she was given her Mawkin DNA before, maybe even right before she left for the Galactic Federation somewhere in her teenage years, though there's a lot of questions there.

    • @MFIBCN
      @MFIBCN 2 года назад +8

      Nah, Samus got BOTH Chozo DNA types at the same time when she was a child. Have you saw the damn cinematic in the game?
      Also, in perspective, is THANKS to Raven Beak that Samus turned a superhuman warrior. She got thoha DNA to be able to endure the weather conditios of zebes (and also being able to control/tame metroids), but the Mawkin DNA was the one which boosted her physical proweness to overhuman limits.
      Is also funny how people makes the joke of Raven Beak boosting himself while he was imposing ADAM...
      And he beated her TWICE, and in both times she was on full upgrades... if it wasn't for her rage induced metroid boost power, He would have killed her.
      Which metroid villian can else say "I beated Samus TWICE, af full power and in the SAME GAME" aside of Raven Beak?

      I don't know why the artist depicted Samus as a teen in her Zero Suit when it shows her getting Raven Beak's DNA; it breaks continuity.
      Samus would have gotten both strands of Chozo DNA from the beginning when she was 3.
      The Thoha wanted her to be able to survive the harsh environments of Zebes and they saw her as a chance to redeem themselves for their mistakes; she would be the one who fixed the problems that they created, and she needed to be a warrior to do that.
      Mother Brain had her own plans during this; she saw Samus as a tool for destruction. Samus would make an excellent enforcer for Mother Brain's will.
      The Thoha probably asked Raven Beak for his DNA so that she could have the best possible Mawkin DNA, and they could give her a power suit designed after his own. He probably had the same idea as Mother Brain: make Samus an enforcer for his own will.
      Poor girl had just lost her parents, and now she had three different groups of people trying to control her. It's no wonder she is so emotionally shut off to everyone she meets.

    • @KBroly
      @KBroly 2 года назад

      @@johnleonard9102 I don't believe it breaks continuity (especially if it's furthering detaching the series from the manga). The two tribes/strands of Chozo DNA that Samus is apart of is something new. It ultimately raises more questions which is where Sakamoto wants to take the story (IMO). We simply don't know how/why the Chozo decided to make Samus a Warrior, assuming she even wanted to become one.
      One detail I will mention is that the Chozo text in Dread is Mawkin in nature, while the text in Other M/SR is Thoha in nature. Samus' gunship for example has Thoha text.
