It's been a great pleasure to see an expert sheet metal worker at his craft. A pleasure also to see your painstaking attention to detail to get things just right without resorting to body filler. I remember watching the fully painted new Mini van and Pick up bodies arriving at Longbridge by lorry from Fisher and Ludlow's factory at Castle Bromwich in the 1970's. It was a common sight to see three or four lorries standing on the Bristol Road waiting to unload. Most of the bodies were painted blue or grey. Willow green is a lovely but more unusual colour. I look forward to the next instalment.

I have a 1967 Mini Traveler steelside - that is the station wagon ordered with the "delete wood trim" option selected. That was common here in Canada due to winter upkeep issues, while the upgraded heater (3.5 kw?) was also commonly selected. They both show up on my Heritage Certificate. Vans were very uncommon here, while the Parks Department here in Toronto ran several white pickups.

Paul, did I miss the story of why anybody would spend, probably twice as much as the vehicle is worth, on a mini van? 😱

No, I never told that story because he has not spent as much as it's worth, but even if he did it's none of anybody else's business
