MTGO was weirdly dark for this video - it’s fixed for subsequent ones, but apologies for the issue (it was a stream labs issue so I couldn’t tell myself)
In my city, pre covid, we had a small group of guys who used to run monthly eternal events in a University campus on Sundays with prize support, coverage, etc. Since they weren't a WPN store all events were 100% proxy friendly, it was my gateway into how I got into legacy and Australian highlander. But honestly the most fun I had in those events was playing Vintage!
The exile clause on Necropotence was important in the 90's because it precluded intentional discards to hand size. Back in the 90's it was a common cheat to try and overdraw and discard to hand size into the graveyard for Yawg's Will or Reanimate. I'm not saying designers at the time were super thoughtful and prescient, but in retrospect it turned out to be a pretty important safety valve on the card.
I have seen a surprisingly large number of games where skipping a turn to untap time vault has resulted in a win. Not a normal play, but I sure happens a lot more than you would think.
35:15 how would second workshop let you cast Karn? Planeswalker not artifact right? Need to know because my son plays it in his paper magic workshops so if we are doing it wrong need to know. Btw I play powered time vault or unpowered Oath against him.
30:20 Opponent made an easy-to-miss misplay. Since they were planning to stripmine Urza's Saga anyway, they should have done so while the ability for it to tap for mana was still on the stack. This ended up being a huge swinging point in the game that went unacknowledged.
@LSVargas at 1:01:25 you debate between Ghost Quartering the Urza's Saga and the Tolarian Academy, going so far as to say "Seems like it would be a mistake to Ghost Quarter Academy here." Am I missing a joke? You're about to Ghost Quarter one of the opponent's lands and then Strip Mine the other; does it make a difference which land you target with each of your own lands?
Why did you play a creature against oath of druids? By doing so, they didn't need Forbidden Orchard to set up the combo. Also, would it have been wrong to board in the Traps to hopefully disrupt their combo when they fetch or a dismember to kill your own spirit token?
My favorite thing about this vid is the fact that the yellow in the background of his face cam looks like a party hat that hes wearing Jokes aside love vintage and congrats on the big life news!! :)
Would it hurt the deck too much to play 1 cascading cataracts so golos can fetch it and then it can be activated? Deck always has a ton of mana and seems short of action.
Cataracts just doesn’t do enough compared to Ghost Quarter and Bojuka Bog. If you resolve Golos and need action, just get Saga or Inventor’s Fair. Also while you didn’t get to see it in the video, if LSV ran into a Bazaar deck, having those Ghost Quarters and Bojuka Bog in the back are why Shops has good Bazaar matchups; which is one of the reasons to play Golos Shops.
Hey @LSVargas, can you make your hand a bit bigger in recorded videos? It's visible on PC, but a bit of a strain on the eyes. Impossible to recognize cards on mobile :( Sorry if I'm blind
Is it completely unreasonable to play a copy of Cascading Cataracts over say a copy of Inventor's Fair or Ghost Quarter? Both definitely have nice upsides but it feels like given you have 4 Golos one copy could be nice to threaten the prospect of spinning the Golos so you can develop a good critical mass of tax/disruption pieces in the games that go a bit slower
this deck seems to flood out a lot. i wonder if memory jar or two could be worth playing now the disruption is less consistent and the deck has so much mana I also feel like mindbreak trap could be maindeckable. it can take games vs combo, and most decks in vintage play 3 cards a turn at some point. (this might be a silly thought)
I used to play vintage quite a bit, but ever since MH2 it just doesn't feel as fun anymore. I'm glad to see this video though and hope LSV is going to enjoy himself.
Necropotence exiles so you don't just draw 19 cards, discard 12 of them, then get back something huge with Animate Dead. Card is already bonkers, no need for Yawgmoth's Will to get more bonkers with it 😂 Also curious if Revoker should have named Necropotence. Opponent would be forced to win with the seven cards in their hand. Tough call because Sphere definitely put a lot of work in. Overall, not my favorite version of Shops. Especially without Mystic Forge. Timevault + Key just isn't good enough without Kuldotha Forgemaster, which is already worse than Urza's Saga, and no maindeck Null Rods or Tanglewires. Shops shouldn't lose to any combo decks except Bazaar and Oath.
Would not playing Revoker m1g3 have been totally outrageous? Is prohibiting possible Lotus better than not giving opponent a free roll on just playing Oath with no other setup?
Opponent's deck does more powerful things than LSV's. He has to kill them somehow. If he knew he had Crucible + GQ in hand then there's some merit to that, but locking out the most explosive card and putting on a clock matters.
".. to recur its [..] Ghost Quarters, because Vintage decks famously don't have very many basic lands" and his list has no basics at all in the 75... Is it crazy to have something like Duress or REB somewhere in the 75 vs FoW effects?
Seeing your name being mentioned everywhere Dr Ofenmu RUclips makes me happy and i feel good and great knowing knowing that i m not the only person you may have CURED his HSV 1 and 2 completely may God strengthen your ability to keep saving life
MTGO was weirdly dark for this video - it’s fixed for subsequent ones, but apologies for the issue (it was a stream labs issue so I couldn’t tell myself)
thank you for confirming im not crazy
Mishra's workshop IS the dark side of MTG. It's on flavour.
Vintage! Awesome! Thanks lsv ❤🎉
Still watchable no worries
Humble request: add time stamps for each round start + the deck deck.
Love the vintage and legacy content. There's not enough of it made by entertainers like yourself LSV. Thanks for doing you.
Screen looks pretty dark to me for some reason.
You're wearing sunglasses
Try turning the brightness up
For me as well
LOVE vintage and legacy content. And I think LSV is uniquely qualified to show it off like this. Please keep it coming.
Vintage, Legacy, Cube, Draft. This is what I want to see. Thx for delivering!
Love the older Eternal content! I never play the formats myself so vicariously enjoying them is great.
In my city, pre covid, we had a small group of guys who used to run monthly eternal events in a University campus on Sundays with prize support, coverage, etc. Since they weren't a WPN store all events were 100% proxy friendly, it was my gateway into how I got into legacy and Australian highlander. I was already absolutely loving this channel so far, and now more content for my favorite format? Fantastic. Would love to see more vintage videos.
The exile clause on Necropotence was important in the 90's because it precluded intentional discards to hand size. "See you tomorrow." is the best way to end a video - implies there's more LSV content coming very, very soon. :P
Starting your channel with cube was classy. Legacy next really whet the appetite. But this is what I was looking forward to. Chef’s kiss
Always love to see vintage 👌🏻
I can't wait to see shops with the one ring 👀
love the new channel, brings back memories of the old cube vods before you streamed regularly.
love watching LSV rip some vintage - legendary
I remember piloting The Gilded Claw for the first time back in the day. Pure adrenaline rush hoping you see your next top deck.
Lsv playing shops - are we the baddies?
The Maestro and the Ultimate format.
Love the channel, keep up the great work!
Vintage!!!! This channel keeps getting better!!!
I've been a huge fan of LSV since 2008 pro tour Berlin with elf ball.... I feel like so much has changed since then yet so much has stayed the same.
You're correct, workshop mana cannot be used to cast Karn.
Always down for more LSVintage. Need my old Vintage Super League itch scratched (a shame it couldn't continue)
30:20 Opponent made an easy-to-miss misplay. Since they were planning to stripmine Urza's Saga anyway, they should have done so while the ability for it to tap for mana was still on the stack. This ended up being a huge swinging point in the game that went unacknowledged.

Vintage cube, vintage leagues, this is the one true path.
Why did you play a creature against oath of druids? By doing so, they didn't need Forbidden Orchard to set up the combo. Also, would it have been wrong to board in the Traps to hopefully disrupt their combo when they fetch or a dismember to kill your own spirit token?
Im also thinking about dismember, dont know about vintage that much but my intuition says that dismember over bojuga bog would be a good call.
Loving the vintage!!!
My favorite thing about this vid is the fact that the yellow in the background of his face cam looks like a party hat that hes wearing
Jokes aside love vintage and congrats on the big life news!! :)
LSV, on 33:00 any considerations for revoker on necropotence?
Vintage is the second best format, after 95/96.
Genuinely though, it is the most entertaining to watch, for me at least.
Would it hurt the deck too much to play 1 cascading cataracts so golos can fetch it and then it can be activated? Deck always has a ton of mana and seems short of action.

Never thought I'd see Skysovereign in vintage. Cool games!
Skysovereign is sweet for sure but it'll never top Slash Panther in Vintage for me for sheer unbelievability :D
Hey @LSVargas, can you make your hand a bit bigger in recorded videos? It's visible on PC, but a bit of a strain on the eyes. Impossible to recognize cards on mobile :( Sorry if I'm blind
More vintage please. ^^
Thank you LSV i think you're a pretty cool guy
Vintage is THE way to play magic
What a silly format. Thank you for playing it for us all to watch!
G1 against DDay. Why did you opt for sphere over revoker on necro? Revoker on necro feels like it kneecaps them hard
You do mention you can’t cast Karn with workshops later in video. I like your version of the deck, but my son isn’t convinced on golos.
Love the new channel!
Yes! More vintage please!
Was this video recorded before the one ring got released?
🤩 love it

Ever looked into the 93/94 format?
I used to play vintage quite a bit, but ever since MH2 it just doesn't feel as fun anymore. I'm glad to see this video though and hope LSV is going to enjoy himself.
Do you think The One Ring will be good in vintage?
Necropotence exiles so you don't just draw 19 cards, discard 12 of them, then get back something huge with Animate Dead. Card is already bonkers, no need for Yawgmoth's Will to get more bonkers with it 😂

Would not playing Revoker m1g3 have been totally outrageous? Is prohibiting possible Lotus better than not giving opponent a free roll on just playing Oath with no other setup?
I had this question too, but I think his avenue towards victory is based on never letting Oath resolve instead of trying to fade an orchard token.
Opponent's deck does more powerful things than LSV's. He has to kill them somehow. If he knew he had Crucible + GQ in hand then there's some merit to that, but locking out the most explosive card and putting on a clock matters.
can we entertain -1 golos +1 the one ring?
".. to recur its [..] Ghost Quarters, because Vintage decks famously don't have very many basic lands" and his list has no basics at all in the 75...

Great video as always! I would love to watch LSV dominate a game of CEDH lol
LSV is a prolific sanctioned constructed player. I doubt it, short of pile of money.
Shops on the draw was pretty tough :(
"Never punished" - Man who was punished last game for not wastelanding before casting revoker.
can you not revoker Necropotence
Woo vintage
Lesssgo lsv
Obligatory algorithmic contribution
Love it
I'm a simple man. I see lsv playing vintage, I click like
Wait a minute, this is not storm! I was tricked.
draft staple God Pharaoh's Statue
HOW IS WORKSHOP NOT RESTRICTED!?!?!
Seeing your name being mentioned everywhere Dr Ofenmu RUclips makes me happy and i feel good and great knowing knowing that i m not the only person you may have CURED his HSV 1 and 2 completely may God strengthen your ability to keep saving life
GIB ME MORE
Bo-say-joo :(
Unban Shahazarad
Let chaos reign.
Ensnaring Bridge beats Oath. I miss Uba Stax.
i am so lost in vintage. My thought was "oh fetch cascading cataracts so you can activate golos." I gotta play more than arena lol
The screen apart from your Picture in Picture is way too dark and difficult to watch, so i stopped.
