your spot on. insulin resistance (diabetes) is caused by diet, and diet also causes cardiovascular disease. statins don't fix the underlying cause, and then interfere with important biochemical coenzyme q10 pathways, needed for heart health
For primary prevention it's next to none despite massive sample sizes of statin studies that either exaggerate a small effect or find effects by chance that don't actually exist!
Reaven as far as I know first officially described the criteria for Metabolic Syndrome/Syndrome X. However it's sad to know that it seems like he failed to realize the important connection of chronic carb intake to the development and propagation of insulin resistance/MetS, thus never got into publicly advocating for Therapeutic Carbohydrate Reduction (TCR).
Your effort is very good for humanity..You give very informative information but some business minded people disagree with you because of there investment in this field
Why mess around with the body's chemistry when you can get blood suger, trigs, blood pressure and BMI under control by scrapping the carbs ?
Because to the "bottom line". Statins are a legal scam by Big Med/Pharma

Statins: The absolute risk reduction in secondary prevention is about 4%. No reduction in all cause mortality.

This guy is so close to the truth, but his commitment to the cholesterol-is-evil religious dogma won't allow him to break through.
