Cheap drift tire challenge #5: Accelera PHI / light wheel vs heavy wheel!

- For my 200th video (hooray!), I am starting my tire test videos back up for 2019. This time around I am giving the $55 shipped Accelera PHI tires a go, but with a small twist for science! I want to know if running the heavy OEM 350z wheel vs. the light weight STR 903 will make a difference in the laps I can squeak out. Who will win? How many laps did the Accelera manage to complete? Are they worth it? Watch the video to find out!
Chart with all the tires can be found here: drive.google.com/open?id=1D22...

Dan, love this series! I do think that there are a lot of variables that change in between tests you have done, however the general description of each tire seems very accurate and is extremely helpful. Thank you for doing this!
Thanks man. I try to keep everything I do on the track the same. Same temperatures, same line, same cooldowns, same angle. Cant keep it exact, but it's the closest I can get!!
Good stuff Dan. 👍 Ordered some Westlake's for the 19th's event!
You gonna love em :)
I have a set of these mount on 17x9 RPF1’s they perform great for the price point
With the Phis you need to keep them at a fixed pressure. Start out at 25, after a couple laps they will bump up to about 35. Bring them back down to 25 and you will see even longer life. I have been running these for a year now and you actually can get a lot of grip out of them. They have a high working pressure. I don’t recommend dropping below 23psi. Also the 225/40 18 measures about the same as a 245/40 Achilles atr sport 2. But only the 225/40 18 as far as I’m aware. If you order a 225/45 17 phi it will be significantly narrower.
Great info dude! I never took any air out of the others, so to be fair I did the same with these. I have a few left though and I'll try it for sure. I.couldnt believe how wide these were, it's fantastic!
Thanks for the science! I've been wondering what effect wheel width/stretch has on tire life lately. I might have to dawn my own lab coat and find out.
Had I driven the same way as the heavies, less angle less wheel speed, I think these would have gone an extra lap or two!
Thanks man 👍
I'm curious how these compare to the Nitto Neogen
So do u recommended this tires for normal conduction? I mean, to drive about 160 kms/h aprox in road, and daily city drive?
Thanks Dan I ran the sa07s this weekend and got great life out of them!
Right on! Those westlakes are choice for sure!
Same here, can't beat them for $55.
You should give the milestar ms932 a try. Not sure if they're available in the 225/40 though.
I'll check it out! Thanks dude
Hey bro! Do you recommended for a daily nissan sentra 2017?
I use this on my bmw m2, its perform well, dont like use expensive tire coz i do like powersliding in almost every u turn in my city😂
Only way to be!
Achilles tires next! So cheap. Thunderer would be cool too.
I have the sport 1 and sport 2 on deck for the next video!
Niiice! Really cool videos. So hard to find any kind of tire reviews, no less drifting.
@@802Garage indeed! That's where the idea for these came from. I just wanna help people drift on the cheap and get the most bang for their buck
Have you tried the Accelera 651 Sport? it's a special tire from Accelera for the use of drift
accerlia phi 225 35 20 passnger anyone know why it say passnger on these tires. I have a set ready to order but im lost if its just one side wheel
Accelera to Hankook??
Would you recommend these tires for a daily commute for a small SUV ?
And what is the difference between 215/50ZR18 and 215/50/R18. What is that "Z" in front of the diameter.
Any of the tires I tested would be good daily driver tires. The z is the speed rating, so if you are using them on a suv, the regular non high speed rated tires would be great
How accelera??im from Indonesia?
You called them a 280 tread wear but I'm reading everywhere they are 400. Were these the older version or human error?
The older tires were better than these all seasons
can you please bring back the officer dan tone?
Hahahahah maybe for some other stuff, and hopefully another car vs bike video soon
Have you tried the delinte dh2 the guys in California like using them
Not yet! But I can add them to the list. I have like 8 more sets of tires to test this season already so that's a lot haha
Dan Brockett what tire has been your favorite for drivability
@@THEKINGOUWANTIT for daily driver tires I really like the westlakes!
Dan Brockett what would you recommend for an s13 with an Ls Swap
@@THEKINGOUWANTIT stock ls1?
I love the tire tests
Thanks dude!!!
Is there a p.o. box we can send tires to ? I tried a bunch of tires last week and the iron man lasted a ton of laps at parc. However the Achilles atr 2s didn't last for shit lol. So would be cool to see how those stack up!
@@fabtown1457 Which Iron mans? I tested some of those in a previous video and they did pretty well! Im going to be testing the ATR sport 2 vs the sport 1 in my next video. If you ever wanna send me some tires to test, hit me up on IG officer_dan and lets make it happen!
Pretty sure the were the imove gen 2
@@fabtown1457 Those did great, I think they are in 4th place currently: drive.google.com/open?id=1D22xI2mm2HNkh2bIPLgcbOj8DlP5aKfT
its 2023 and those are premium tires now
I know. Lol sadly these didn't age well
you should try Ovation VI388
Added to the list!
How's Ovation compared to Sailun Attrezo or Accelera PHI as daily driving? Not for race track. Wanna get some good quality and long lasting from the budget range.
@@johnnycarter6196 I don't usually get to drive on these on the streets, but maybe I can give it a try one of these times!
I've seen really good reviews about this ovation ones, better then my previous sailun that is stated as a mid range tyres. Ovation comes up for the budget tyres but with better reviews.
Just bought some 265 35 19s Accelera
How are they so far?
@@1deadly187 so far so good as long as I drive in conform. In sports + and race mode seems like no tires last
@@supie5063 lol...
Is the accelera phi 2 a run fat tyre?
No sir!
@@Officer_Dan can you recommend me a budget run flat tyre for 275/35/19 Y
I recently bought these tires (285-30-20) phi , why so many bad reviews?
I think its a quality control thing. I had this set do ok, then the next set of them i used delamed 1st lap out and i hit a wall...
@@Officer_Dan is that for real? I had the same experience. Bought 2 sets, first set lasted most of an event, second set delammed after 3 runs
