- I’ve been thinking about starting a family recently and so I thought I’d see what it’s all about by playing as a devoted housewife in The Sims 4, it can’t be that hard can it?
Being a housewife is actually really tough in the Sims 4! With all the mundane tasks your sims can do, it quickly adds up! Washing the clothes, vacuuming, cooking, changing diapers, walking the dog…it never ends! Now I see what these Moms are moaning about!

@@PrincessQ-fj9ly depends on the family they are a house wife for. I’ve know someone who says they are a house wife but they don’t have kids and they share 50/50 responsibility with their husbands.

One thing I would like to see in the new sims game is realistic time frames for things. Like 20 minutes to make breakfast, an hour for dinner etc.
Please play that again, with the added challenge of preparing a christmas party for the family (grandparents and all), and for the husbands business partners.

The time for tasks versus how long the Sim day lasts is out of whack. Plus, the time they just stand there staring at a wall or go all the way upstairs or outside and then back again before they can start something else. It would help if the time for doing things wasn't so long for each thing. I usually use the speed up button for everything but it still takes a quarter of the day up in Sim time.
Our hoover is still in my room, my younger sister put it there yesterday and I couldn't be bothered so it's just chilling in my room ... Should probably do that before I get yelled at.
Tip: Put uneaten food away in the fridge to have as leftovers later; save time cooking again.

It really could be a challenge. You start as a married couple then a dog and last add kids. You would have to keep up good relationships and the kids would have to have 3 out 5 of the life skills in range.
if Sims had a realistic schedule for the 50's the men would be up at 6 in the morning and women would want to get coffee or tea and breakfast ready kinda earlier than expected
I actually shop from Grove. It's not just cleaning supplies, basically you pick what you want and all the stuff is like...natural and planet friendly and whatever. There's stuff for pets, beauty products, healthcare, and, yes, lots of cleaning supplies. I really like this one floss I can only seem to find on that site. Plus you don't have to get it all the time, you can just set it to come once in a while. I remember one time I had mucked up my subscription and I panicked cuz I had no money, but they refunded it really fast, were super understanding, and they let me keep the stuff.
This is why stay at home mothers have to wake up at 4am and I make sad lunches for each child too.
I've decided I don't really want kids. I'm 32 and I'm ok with never going through childbirth. I have diabetes and other stuff that runs in my family and I don't wanna risk passing those onto a child. If I did have kids tho I always wanted 1... maybe 2 depending on how the 1st turned out🤷🏾♀️

I tried to do this type of thing a few times with different families and now I refuse to make larger houses bc it takes way too dang long
Example: one of my families was 50s themed. The father was a professor for a schools, the mom was well, a stay at home mom, and they had a son and they lived in a two bedroom house and it was quaint and small.
I actually did very well with that and rly the only problems I had was bc I didn't follow community (neighborhood) rules with the eco lifestyle pack and that was rly the only issue
Now, ON THE OTHER HAND I tried doing this with an Edwardian themed family with the same amount of people + a cat and it was a two story 4 bedroom house (the father in this one was a mortician) and I couldn't do diddly correctly. The toddler was always fussy bc their needs were always low, the mom was always exhausted and falling on her face, and the husband was always sad
Needless to say, keep the family and house small lol

Yeah. It's that liquid courage that keeps them going. Although I'll be honest. If I was a housewife, I probably wouldn't drink often, mostly because I probably wouldn't be able to function. 😅

I would have started them off as just married. They start trying to have a baby while she's taking care of just the husband and the house. So she's building skills while her family is getting bigger. Because part of the problem was her cooking skill was terrible low.

The wife is just sitting there because the father comes to interfere with the wife's action. This happens all of the time, I don't know if Maxis did this on purpose to make things a challenge or if there is another broken program in the game. The wife is a great mother, but the programming is against her.
The high chair is so broken. Just feed the todds on the floor
You have to wake up your sim at like 3am to make breakfast for the family (before the kids go to school that is)
This is the way I would play sims 3 since my woman always wanted heaps of kids and Ioved babies in the sims as a kid so I would always have the mum stay home (since even if she had a job she would never go since she would be pregnant all the time) and she would end up getting up at 3am and make breakfast. I like playing this way, a lot easier then having a working Mum tbh cause then its really hard to get housework done but I hardly play sims atm right now.

I knew this would be a challenge because the amount of time it takes a sim to do anything is unrealistic in proportion to the amount of time it takes in real life.
I am sorry to burst your bubble... but laundry is almost every single day whether washing, picking up, drying, or putting away... you are going to be always doing the laundry lmao

Where are the laundry hampers?
I’m not trying to be ‘that’ mum. But laundry is something that will always need to be done. Potty training, the child learning to feed themselves. And thats only for toddlers. 🤷🏼♀️ never mind babies, who need burping after feeding, and they puke on themselves and you.. I think you slightly underestimated the job of being a parent. Also, not all dads are useless. So how about some love for the good dads out there?

My name is Julia and I'm a housewife 😂😂😂
This is actually kind of how I normally play the Sims nowadays lol. Dad works (or works from home), and mom takes care of the kids and makes extra money via painting, gardening etc. I usually dont start out with kids though, I either start out with one sim as a teen, or a young couple who want to have children. So, by the time they have kids, they have some skills built up. Heck, I'm currently doing two different teen mom playthroughs (one of them being homeless, the other getting an apartment with her boyfriend), and a rags to riches farm where neither of them have an actual job. It's been pretty fun! The only issues that I've been having are bug related/bad programming (Sims freezing while trying to perform baby care actions, important tasks like feeding being cancelled out by another sim trying to cuddle the baby, Sims resetting in the middle of animations etc.)
I’ve been playing with a family that has 4 kids. I’m constantly having to keep making them do the same thing over and over because they will just stand there and not do it then the command just goes away and they never do it. It’s always when it has to do with the kids, especially the babies. Then I get nervous that the kids will get taken away because they’re starving and the parents won’t just feed them like I told them to 10 times lol.
@@nvrcominhome004 There's a few reasons why that happens. One thing being what I mentioned before, that other Sims have autonomously queued up (usually useless) interactions with the babies. Another common reason is that sometimes the babies are already doing something, and the adult sim is waiting for them to be done. Often times, this takes too long, and so it automatically cancels out. Another one is the asinine pathfinding, though this is less common. For this one specifically, just have the adult pick the baby up and walk somewhere else a few feet away.
Of course, sometimes it is just bugging out. Regardless, other than the third common issue, if you play on PC, best way to quickly fix these issues is to shift click the adult and the baby, and select "Reset Object Debug". Hope this helps!

Her best isn't good enough even in the worse households.
I agree. I love the home, it's beautiful but the family needs a structured system.. Even in the 50's the children had chores. The dad wasn't a lump and didn't stand around, he helped out. The mother is expected to do it all it's not realistic play.

Sadly, in real life, we have some immature, spoiled and entitled man children who were probably spoiled rotten, weaponize incompetence and basically expect their girlfriends or wives to be their cook, maid and sex toy without complaining.
