Yes! Useful beyond words! Heidi is probably my favorite YT person, I dont know what to call it. Life has done it's thing taking my attention and with YT algorithms or suggestions or whathaveyou, didnt see much of her videos for quite a while. Im really not one to go and check each channel that I like, rather I rely on what pops up, as it's pretty closely got me pegged. 😆 But Ive learned a lot from this channel and have been inspired to try quite a few things! A few years back was my first go at vinegar with Heidi's apple peel method. And now today, I just bottled 2 gallons I made using scraps after pressing cider this last season. Went out on a limb, tried it and worked great! Need to get some new test strips but I tried testing it with an old test strip for the pool we used to have, ph showed up super low! Tasted sour but sweet. I think my willingness to try things, while Ive always had it, is encouraged or reinforced by folks like Heidi. Next lil project will be to plant organic ginger that started sprouting. Always thought about it, now to make it happen. [indoors of course, especially here in the PNW where I live] Another favorite I learned from this channel is dehydrating/powdering eggs! Its where I first learned of the jar vacuum sealing attachment, which I love and have multiple kinds now. But I even bought myself a brake bleeder like Heidi uses, cuz you just never know with power outages. I use jar attachment to remove air from LOTS of things now! No need for tupperware etc when I can use a canning jar, and keeps longer/fresher when no oxygen inside to grow mold. So yes, this channel has been full of useful "this n that"! 😉 Glad you've been back in my feed again, Heidi!

I've been working on having a better prepared life since before 2000. It did not all come at once, and I'm still working on it and improving, and I'm not perfect. 99% of us did not start at "top of the line." Instead of complaining about what they can't do, I hope these people you speak of are able to move beyond that into an attitude of can do and start from where they are at, just like the rest of us did at some point. Persons complaining and feeling like they can't: It is better to not spend time being a victim but rather be a survivor. Life is not always easy, it has good times and bad times, start taking your steps to move forward in it. By participating with channels like Rain Country, you have already started with learning new information that may help at some point. Its not just about having food on the shelf(physical prep).. It's about mental and spiritual preparation, too. Most of us here know you can move forward, I hope you figure it out.
Heidi, I appreciate all you do and the information you and your husband provide, thank you.

I have bought some equipment that are expensive such as dehydrator, slow-cooker, sterilisator and I went to the second hand markets to buy old kitchen tools. I am very satisfied now and only need more learning and experience. Have a great week ❤🙏❤️

The home that we moved into 7 years ago has a fireplace. Not an insert, not a freestanding stove… a fireplace. We are so thankful for this fireplace. We would love to have a stove, but we would not want to be without anything at all like we were in our last home, (where by the way, we used a camp stove when the power went out and even that I loved doing.)
When the power goes out now, I cook to the side of the fire on the coals. I love every minute of that. I also enjoy seeing what other people have and how they use it and would love to have a freestanding stove one day.
Anyone who gets “bent out of shape” over you pointing out your wood burning stove and expressing the value that you have found in it needs to take a look at the lack of contentment that they possess. Being thankful for and resourceful with what you have while being happy for someone who has more than you do is more important than any amount of preps. What good is survival if you have an unappreciative heart?
I love seeing your stove and the dehydrating trays next to it with the cute cloths on them. Aren’t things like that the reason that we all watch your videos? To learn from someone who has what we don’t so we can learn what to shoot for?
    Sheesh, some people!

Ginger may be my favorite thing to dehydrate! The difference between store-bought and home dried ginger root is VAST! Thank you for providing such good videos through the year, Heidi! Edited to add: Yes, it takes years and years to really be more self-sufficient. We've got a new couple down the road who moved here from Texas, and are getting a small homestead going, another one who just bought a rather big run-down dairy farm. They are both prone to say, "There's always so much more to do, or, I don't feel like I've accomplished much...." I remind them that we've been on our place over 30 years, and we're not done either. You think you're ahead of the game, and the game changes, or some animal breaks something you then need to fix, etc. But you keep chugging along.

I started prepping 6 years ago but live in a hot humid climate. This has been our hottest summer ever. So much of the store bought food has gone off or is a bit funky. I've stopped buying and we are trying to use up what we have. Not sure what to do then... I love your channel. Thank you for all your hard work. ❤❤❤

You are just wonderful! It’s sad you have to constantly explain “yourself”. I am not a RUclips fan but I check both yt and rumble as there a a couple I watch that haven’t switched to rumble. Thank you for ALL you do. I truly hope the ones that poopoo everything doesn’t discourage because you’re amazing!

We were blessed with deer thus past fall, and made a breakfast sausage, and an Italian sausage, both turned out well, and is a good alternative to pork. Yours look yummy. Thanks for all you do, please don't let the Karen's discourage you, God bless you.

Yes, I have started it before but I do not want to grow it inside. I had a good start going but as soon as I put it out in the spring (this was a couple of years ago) we had a late freeze and even though it was in a very protected area on our deck up against the house, it still died and never came back. I do not have the time and space to keep fussing with things that will not do well outside in our climate

Amen! I don't have a wood stove. I wish I did. But I have fire bowl, barbecue and camp stove. I also can make a rocket stove. I have saved up boxes of? Pine cones! Ha! I have them stored in my unheated garage. I cut walnut trees constantly. So I can go scavenge wood to cook with. I do need a new bottle for propane, which I have not gotten. I have low power Mennonite Electric Fireplaces. IF I can get some batteries going? I could run them in Emergency. I will get some batteries going! Already have panels, cables and regulators or whatever they are called..I also have a brand new, still in the box, convection heater, that uses low watts. I keep kerosene and tealigyts in Stock and barbecue lighters and have lamps. Enough to have one on stairs, one by gas stove, one in bathroom, one for each bedroom. Overall, other than sump pump, water pump and furnace? I am pretty good off.
Each thing I added year by year. None was all in one go! Oh! I have also been making fire starters, gorgeous the last 2 years! I have quite a few made up! I also keep refillable lighters, gas for them and lots of box matches.

Oh dear Heidi, you are truly an INSPIRATION to so many and you have a beautiful gift of seeing alternatives to the norm.
Sadly there are people, whose life has been filled with unhappiness, will never see the upside or possibilities that are presented to them. They prefer to remain in the victim mentality.
If I am about to make a purchase from Amazon, but not something that you specifically have links to, but I start from one of your Amazon links, do you also benefit from my purchases? If so, before I make a purchase, I will initiate my search from your channel.

Yes, we do, I do not always think to say that so I appreciate you asking. That is what I really like about how the links work, as long as you go through any amazon affiliate link provided, it does not matter what you add to your cart, we get credit it for any that is added during that shopping session

@@RainCountryHomestead GREAT, I am so happy to know that. I have gone to your site a few times before make purchases in the hopes that you get some revenue from it.
You do so, so much for your views and most people have no understanding of how long it takes to provide and upload the content.
I am deeply grateful to you and am so happy that the links to Amazon will help in a small way. God Bless and keep inspiring the world.

Start with any steps and keep buying till you have enough. If you sve a pound or dollar when you have one and all the loose change to it you will get a pile of mooneybto invest and buy other stuff. Five 20 pences are a 1 pound. Jeep saving till you have enough
