My family does not enjoy the ends of the bread so I usually save them in the freezer until I have enough and I make a french toast casserole for dinner as a treat. I just make sure that the "good" side is face up and they are none the wiser, lol.

I’ve learned to flip the ends over so the darker brown is the inside part of bread for sandwhiches and the light normal color outside and then no one notices it’s the end bread that made their sandwhiches. No waste. But making a bread pudding casserole is also great.

I have tried over the years to grow every spice that I use. Dehydrating makes it easy also. There is no reason to ever buy herbs and spices again. We will definitely try to get those recipe videos out :-) I just double checked the label on my pickles from Aldi and they have turmeric (extract) as the color additive so that's nice. Yes, we will show everybody our 3-day pickles ones are cucumbers come in. We have had chili weather so not much has been happening with the garden so far. Julian does rinse her hair with apple cider vinegar but we recently have been using the shampoo and conditioner bars by Viori and are SUPER happy with them. I'm on the fence with a few of the ingredients but overall it's a better choice compared to some.

I reseason my skillets often. Grapeseed oil is what I use. It has a high smoke point, so it has to go in a hot oven until it smokes. The polyunsaturated fats polymerize, forming the nice shiny coating you want. I also had to put on 3 layers because the seasoning was gone.
I read about it on a website (man cave or something) and he explained the reasons for the type of oil vs lard or bacon grease vs Crisco, etc.

Please be careful if you are using ACV on your hair as its pH can really damage your hair and scalp in the long run especially if you don't dilute it enough. I use an ACV shampoo maybe once a month to cleanse my hair, but that's it. Anyway, I'm glad I found this channel... even though we live in the city and we can't do much proper homesteading (especially as my folks get older), we have been looking at alternate ways to get things and be prepared. Including discovering Azure Standard which we love--although we honestly only buy a few things there like wheat berries and cocoa and vanilla (a lot of their stuff is just too expensive, even if it is better quality).

The trick is if you’re going to put them in the basement don’t watch them just dust off the dirt and put them in the crate and put them in the basement watch them when you use them they won’t rot and you don’t have to let them sit and dry my dad did this for years and he just built a simple wooden crate 2 inches off the ground and put 50 pounds of potatoes in it and they laughed all winter long for a family of eight

@@anniemcelroy2812 Annie I got mine at Woolworths here in Australia. Equivalent to maybe Walmart in the states. I think Amazon or another online store would stock them though. Mine was around $10 and I've used it almost daily for around 5 years, best thing ever! Plus, you can put whatever oil you like in it. Xx

We lost our ALDIs , Gordon Foods and so many more businesses to a EF3 Tornado last Friday, our town was so tore up. We have so many displaced without homes. 48 hospital and 2 deaths. Our neighbors brother is now paralyzed from the waist down😢. It’s very odd for us up here in the north to have one. Stay safe keep putting the word out.

Ugh I wish we lived closer to you guys my 16 year old daughter is totally into herbalism And there are just not a lot of girls her age that are into the same things she is! :-)
Ps The living traditions ketchup is really good we made it last year but we didn’t thicken it up enough! So I’m going to try again this year!
Also your potatoes should last even longer if you don’t wash them first just scrape off the chunks of dirt but don’t wash them before storing in the root cellar.

Yes, was going to suggest not washing the potatoes, also. We dig them up and lay them out on a tarp or cardboard, turning to make sure they’re all dry before storing them. I live in upper Michigan, and we have a lot of humidity, so we have to make sure they’re completely dry before storing.

I have a list of things I buy every week that saves me tons! Milk, eggs, Icelandic yogurt, bread, cheese. Just these items I save at least $15/week. My berries normally save me $5/week. $20 X 52= $1040!!! A year! That is just those few items! I saved $88 on a chair cover!
