Having a great 2,000 yard RB is awesome, but have 2 great RB's that can keep each other fresh deep into games is how you can win a championship.

Just replying my seperate comment to you coming from a Boise fan's perspective regarding Jeanty, Allen, and Singleton: As an avid Boise fan and strong supporter that Jeanty's individual season was the 2nd best all time behind Barry. I think 2 things can be true it once:
      - Ashton Jeanty is the best overall running back among the three individually,, and Boise would not be nearly as good as they were if they had either Allen of Singleton instead of Jeanty
      - Penn State is better off with the combo of Allen and Singleton than they would be with just Jeanty

@colewarner4954 I'm not saying Jeanty isn't the best, but wonder what 1 of Penn State's running backs could have done against Boise's schedule as the lone feature back. Over 2000 yards? Not out of the question at all.

@@stephenhaynes3073 I'd say 2000 would certainly be possible, if they got Jeanty's carries. With 374 carries, you would need to average 5.4 yards per carry basically to hit 2000
But if you look at some of the best Group of 5 backs vs Group of 5 in recent memory, say since Barry Sanders. For group of 5 you have Kevin Smith, Ladainlian Tomlinson, Marshall Faulk, Matt Forte, Rashard Penny. Most edged out just over 6 YPC, and that is with most having played no ranked teams, whereas Jeanty played 4 games against ranked teams including 2 Top 10 teams. Jeanty was at 7 YPC, the only player who had more was Penny who had 100 less carries. If you look at great Power 5 backs in that time frame (Sanders, Jonathan Taylor, Reggie Bush, Melvin Gordon, Henry, McCaffrey) Most actually had better YPC than Jeanty. Notice too the best group of 5 backs were probably on average about as good in the NFL, but still averaged less YPC against lesser competition.
The reality is, when you are that good on a not super talented team, even playing lower competition, they are able to scheme specifically for you so much more than at a higher level, it's really hard to be as efficient and consistent as Jeanty was.

@@colewarner4954 Give Nick Singleton all the carries Jeanty got, and let him run against weak MWC front sevens and Singleton has himself an Jeanty equivalent season. See how a strong Big Ten defensive front can stop Jeanty? Now play a 9 game schedule against the likes of Minnesota, Illinois, Wisconsin, Ohio State, and USC. Great running backs don't play down at the MWC level. Jeanty is great, no doubt, but he belongs in the Power 4, not playing for BSU. The reason he had all those yards is because it's rare for a player as good as him to skip playing in the SEC or B1G and go to the MWC. Take Trevor Etienne or TreVeyon Henderson and swap them for Jeanty and they get the same result - 2,500 yard season. You don't think Etienne sheds tacklers better than Jeanty? Or that he's slower or has less wiggle? Be proud of your player, but don't be fooled by stats against weak competition. And don't bring up Oregon. That was early in the season and the Idaho Vandals also gave Oregon a close game. Oregon took a few weeks to get going.

As an avid Boise fan and strong supporter than Jeanty's individual season was the 2nd best all time behind Barry. I think 2 things can be true it once (Though you may not like the first one):
    - Ashton Jeanty is the best overall running back among the three individually, and Boise would not be nearly as good as they were if they had either Allen of Singleton instead of Jeanty
    - Penn State is better off with the combo of Allen and Singleton than they would be with just Jeanty
If you care for a reasoning, Jeanty's ability to break tackles and run against stacked boxes with a mid-oline is second to none in recent memory. Nobody can turn nothing into something quite like he can, and if he gets a clear hole, gone. His main shortcoming, however, is probably his vision and patience, which would limit him from fully maximizing well blocked plays that require more patience for blocks to set up before the hole opens.
Allen and Singleton are a perfect combination, and I was insanely impressed with their patience and vision. In addition to their ideal physical tools, They know how to maneuver themselves to maximize the blocking. I'm not sure Jeanty would have the same patience to let the zone blocking schemes Penn dominated us with set up like they do. They both look really Le'veon Bell like at times.
You guys have two really great ones perfectly suited for you team, if only your playcaller would keep to it

I think most of us following the game were in love with the run game. But some of those 3&1 pass plays were sus. Maybe Andy thought he saw something and wanted to exploit it. But having the run game that effective and calling a pass on 3rd and 1 was a bit disconcerting. We won. But against the better teams like OSU, ND, Georgia, and or Texas; it’s going to be more difficult to maintain a lead on that level of competition.

❤ the analysis. I don’t think AK had the short passing game to the RB to punish all the blitzes. The O line really struggles with A gap exotic blitzes

Love these as always. I would like to see all the boneheaded plays we made and you question the OC decisions. We could have run it every single play but instead he LOVES to get cute. The 3rd and 1 play action when we are getting 7ypc killed me.
