I just ordered mine... But I have a question for everyone that already has one - did you have to answer like 50 questions about what you like to buy, how often you shop online, how many credit cards you have, how often you drive and so on? I am wondering if that is for the advertisment purposes for the tv.
Did you just put your name on the reservation list or are they actively shipping you the Telly? I'm asking because I don't really remember all the questions they ask during the reservation process because that was almost 2 years ago for me. They use your answers to help shape your ad experience. I'm not sure if your answers help get your Telly faster or not? I hope that helps! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
That would make a great monitor for a computer. The Nielson tv rating company did the same thing during the 70,80,90's . Much different concept then with just a small incentive to watch tv and certain programs. They wanted your families feedback on content. This is a better incentive now. Don't break the rules though.
I watched a weird Horror anthology on Netflix this guy's T.V. broke and he saw an add for a free T,V he fell for it than crazy horrors started to happen, this reminds me of that. Nothing comes without a price.
So you were talking about the input button but when you powered the TV on into regular mode it look like it also had apps along that bottom bar screen. So I’m not sure can’t you just use Netflix that’s built into the TV or whatever. And can you put more apps on the TV itself?
There are no built in apps on the Telly so you have to use the Android dongle it comes with or any other streaming stick in order to stream. Thanks so much for watching! 😃

Situations like this aren't addressed in the Terms of Service. I would imagine the only time they would charge you $1000 is if you fail to return the tv after they asked for it back.
For the terms of sharing data, is sharing data automatically sharing information to them as long as you opt in to allow it initially? And Happy Holidays to you and your loved ones 😊
Basically you've agreed to share your data with them by accepting the free TV. As long as it is on and you are watching it, you are sharing your data. You can change your mind and opt-out of data sharing, but you would then need to return the TV to them. I hope that helps! I wish you and yours a happy holiday as well! Thank you so much for watching! 😃
Did you just put your name on the waiting list or did they confirm that they are sending one to you? If you gave your credit card info and they are sending one to you, you can try to email them to cancel the delivery. If you're just on the waiting list you don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!
Would be interesting to see how they decide who (and where) these are sent to. I'd imagine that in states that have more stringent consumer/privacy laws Telly likely won't ship to you. That said, at least this company is being honest about what's going on here - do you really think that Walmart spend $2B+ for Vizio so they could corner the market on cheap smart TVs? Nope, they want to get those devices out in to households and use and sell the data these devices collect. With few exceptions the lower end TVs really don't make that much in profit - with a 60" display going for around $300-350 for a decent one but the prices are much higher on sets that aren't Roku, Firestick or Google branded. The most recent Fire TV I have won't let you get through the setup without an account (I wanted to use it purely as a monitor for my PC) no dice - that's okay I'm just the most boring user out there - device stays on 24x7 and on HDMI 1 with one of the ethernet over HDMI wires cut ;-)
like your video but you didn't demonstrate over the air TV channels, I definitely would like to see that because I use over the air TV channels . Thanks, for the video.
I wonder how long they require you to keep it connected to the internet if for some reason it gets disconnected to the internet before they charge you 😂
The thing is with this tv, it’s always listening cause it’s always on. When time comes to replace the thing years down the line you literally can’t or are on the hook for spending the $1000. I’ve known the Chinese have been listening for a while but this is absurd lol
As someone who has one of these...remember that aspect you mentioned about how it's hard to complain about something that's free. We need to complain during this beta on anything complaint worthy, free or not. Why they sent them to us.
Do you know if you can turn off the first screen of the smart screen? (where the weather and news are). I've heard that you can, but I haven't been able to?
@@kstorrerthat would defeat the purpose of them sending you the TV for free. That's where the ad shows. Of course you can only turn it off when the main screen is off
This Company Needs to make the TV's ATSC 3.0 Ready or Next Gen . Now maybe they are ? And also they need to check with the over the Air Networks and TV stations ,to have them help them to develop the TVs to decode the encrypted over the air TV signals that some of the Over the Air Networks are doing . If They do that then I might would consider getting one .
It does! In this video it's just playing Telly TV which is their promotional programming. It plays that until you select something to watch. Whatever you select to watch will be in Full Screen. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
I'd think that if you can save $100 a month for about 3-4 months you could buy a bit nicer TV (and an equiv soundbar) - The "smart TV" makers all sell your data as does the companies that make "dongles" or streaming devices (just try to set them up without an account - although that can be an account not directly associated with you specifically but they can pretty much tell anyhow). Really the only way to avoid you being the "product" is to get an older "non-smart" TV that has decent specs and pull what's on broadcast over the air.
It doesn't ask for a card during the reservation process, but when they are getting ready to ship your Telly they will ask for it then. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
Since im replacing my main tv with this one (i got it 3 days ago) hooking it up today Would you recommend me putting my Roku in the back of it or should I just use the thing that comes with it?
This seems like a scam, at any moment they could make an excuse that you violated their TOS and charge your card 1,000 bucks no thanks. I would rather buy a TV legit even if I had to pay than do this.
even if so, it'd likely not be in the company's interests to pull the scam right away, as they likely had that there to try to collect more data, and take advantage of those who may not be as well-off, thus not as picky.
@@MasicoreLord Their scam is charging people 500 dollars a week after they get it for violating any sort of TOS they feel the user broke. The TV is a scam, nothing in this world comes without a cost. People are going to get charged 500 bucks and wonder why 🤣🤣

Lol are you serious? 55 inch tvs are selling for around 200. Black friday dropped down to like 150. You can prob get one off facebook market place for 50 bucks. The reason you are poor is because you dont know how to shop. You probably spend more money on coffee in a month. Sure i can buy a 55 oled for close to 2000 but most LEDs are now dirt cheap.
@ almost two years and it’s really nice and the color is great. My old Tv I have had for 13 years and it was on its last leg. So happy we have a new one.
Why on earth would you get this when tvs are extremely cheap these days. Practically free on Marketplace and at Goodwill. This is a very dangerous idea for our society.
Whjy the hell would someone want this when a 55 inch TV is like $250 at any Walmart, TV's are so dirt cheap there is no reason to get one with ads just to save some pocket change, This is just the dumbest thing I have ever seen. The TV looks awful and all of your friends are gonna laugh at you for having such a ridiculous TV with ads and you will be the laughing stock of your friends.
I got one thing to say about that that may be but at least I will not be penalized $1,000 for disconnecting the internet from the TV if I don't want you to see what I am watching and one more thing just let's say that your power goes off for Elise a week because of weather or something in the town and you cannot watch TV they going to take that $1,000 out because you haven't watched it not only that after they do that you explain to them why you could not watch TV but they are not going to put that $1,000 back into your account they come up with some type of excuse if it happened again we won't charge you another thousand dollars or something like that come on guys😂
I think Telly is actually helping people understand what their TV's are really doing. They are disclosing that they are using your data, but they also spilled the beans letting everyone know most smart TV's already do this. The major difference with Telly is they are going to advertise on that second screen, and I agree, it's not for everyone.
@@1D10CRACY I agree with some things that you are saying I have a smart TV already but I don't always have it connected up to the internet I connected up to the Internet only when I'm streaming and when I'm updating I don't like ones watching what I am watching especially if I'm not streaming you can do that if I'm streaming on the platform but when I'm watching my own private stuff on my own private units like my computer my DVD player or my VCR I don't need no pop up saying you are watching Star Wars A New Hope I know what I'm watching but who told you you can be watching this with me the reason why I'm saying this I could be watching a private video or DVD and I don't need no spying people watching or looking at my private attire I could be naked in my own private video and I don't need a pop-up saying hey that character in that video is you LOL
What is stopping someone from putting a piece of cardboard or something else over the bottom screen to block out the ads? Being required to give them my credit card number and having them store it is a deal breaker. There's enough large companies that have data breaches, so how good at protecting my card info is this little startup company going to be? Thanks for the review of this very odd product!
My husband had the same idea about the cardboard lol. In the terms it says you must agree to "not make physical modifications to the Product" so the cardboard would be violating the Terms of Service lol. Thank you so much for watching!! 😃
@@kstorrer Well, this is probably a gray area. If you could rig a piece of cardboard in front of the bottom screen but do it in such a way that it doesn't even touch the TV at all, then you're not making any "physical" modifications! The TV is physically as you got it - you just positioned it in such a way that the bottom screen isn't visible. Now, if they worded the terms in such a way that says the bottom screen must remain visible, that would be a different story. But, how are they even going to know unless they have some type of camera or monitoring device built into the bottom screens - and well, that would definitely make the product a no-go for just about everyone. My other question is, does it REQUIRE internet? If you don't have it connected to ethernet or wireless, can you still use it? What would be displayed on the bottom screens if it can't get "ads" from the internet? I'm thinking like a use case for an RV where you might not have an internet connection but have an antenna connected to watch off-the-air channels when you're at a campsite. Lastly, what is the TV quality like? You didn't comment on that at all in the video. For a "free" TV I'm not expecting it to be top-tier like LG or Samsung. On the other hand, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a terrible TV. If it's mediocre, it might be OK as a second TV, but as you said I think for a main TV people are going to wat either a larger one and/or one with at least decent quality -- not a piece of junk. The rule probably applies "You get what you pay for".
Yes it does require an internet connection. I'm sorry I forgot to mention that! I skipped over the setup process, but that was part of the setup process. As for the picture quality, it is 4k and seems just as good as my Samsung. I should have mentioned that the soundbar is Harman Kardon. It sounds really good. Thanks for asking these questions!!
The top screen is 55" and it's full-screen once you select something to watch. I didn't have anything actually playing during this video. Thanks for your comment! 😃
but i have an honest question, what if i receive the tv, and you dont use it much, will you get in trouble if its sitting powered off for long periods of time?
@@liam-nn5510this is a good question but unfortunately I don't have the answer. I've not heard from anyone saying that they got in "trouble" and had to send it back. Obviously they want you to be watching the TV, but I think it would have to be an extended time period of the tv being off before they ask for it back. I mean people go on vacation and other things so they gave to expect that the TV won't be consistently on. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
I find it hard to beleive skmeone could afford internet but not a tv. A 55" tv these days can be had for cheap. This whole thing is a big scam. Nothing is free
Big YEP for a lot of people. ;) I think everyone understands most Smart TV's are already collecting your data, adding an extra ad in the corner is trivial at that point.
@@1D10CRACY Only if you allow them to, you can switch off and opt out of the majority of data collection. If you want this 55" data mining monstosity with the threat of a $1000 charge if you break the rules, then be my guest.
Literally, every device you use is either directly listening to you as you talk or logging every key you press. Every time you walk out of your house, you are being recorded by home security cameras, and every place you walk into is recording you as well as what you purchase. Nothing you do is secure from prying eyes. I personally don't care, and it doesn't bother me in the slightest. If you are scared of a n you of this it's time to go off grid and leave everything you own behind.
@@jasonh8470 Thanks for the dramatics and stating the obvious, however the point is you can limit the data that is collected and actively reject or anonymize the data that is taken. If you want a "free" TV where you could fall foul of the TOS and be charged 1K then go right ahead.
For it showing off weather stocks and the data for the ads why should you need something else to stream with? Not a such of a smart TV, but it won't last long and they probably will brick it 😂

Now that I think about it more, Telly's "free" tv thing does sound like Nelson, if they were still as aggressive in the 21st century.
I just got mine in today and i can't wait to check it out
Cool! Let me know what you think!
How long did it take to get
How long after you put your credit card, did you recieve your TV. I just recieved the email today
It was really quick. Less than 2 weeks!
Never thought I'd seen something like this in my lifetime.
I like the concept …! Ideal bedroom tv
You could cover the lower screen if it is distracting
I signed up for this so long ago that I forgot I ever did it
I had forgotten too! It took about a year and a half. Watch your email/texts!
I just got the email today to complete my account. Now I have to wait for a call/text I guess
is there an option for the tv to start up at selected hdmi input everytime ?
No at this you have to change the input every time you turn on the TV
I watched a weird Horror anthology on Netflix this guy's T.V. broke and he saw an add for a free T,V he fell for it than crazy horrors started to happen, this reminds me of that. Nothing comes without a price.
Lol so far nothing creepy has happened!
Does it do airplay
Still can't believe this tv actually showed up on my porch while i was asleep
Nice surprise!! 😃
Is it free
@@rosheanawilson3163 Yes it's Free I just got mine 3 days ago
How long do you need to use it until it is considered yours?
This is not spelled out in the terms. I think as long as you follow the rules you don't need to worry about returning it. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
@@kstorrer Ok, I don't violate the terms; I've had the TV for, let's say, 7 years, but I now want to replace it. Do I have to return it to them, or can I just dispose of it as I wish? Thanks for the review. 👍
Is it mountable? Seems way too heavy to be mounted.
@Louis1059 it weighs 65 lbs. It can be mounted just make sure the mount supports 65 lbs. Thanks!
I'm not sure. I would contact Telly customer service to find out what to do in that situation. Thanks!
Is the bottom screen always on? No matter what?
The bottom screen is on as long as the TV is on. Thanks for watching! 😃
2:34 BURP!!!
How is the picture quality compared to other tvs you've owned?
The picture quality is really good. I just bought a Samsung last month (a few weeks before I got the email saying my Telly was ready lol) and the picture quality is just as good as the Samsung. The sound is much better on the Telly. I forgot to mention in the video that the soundbar is Harman Kardon. It does sound good! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
@@kstorrer THANKS FOR THE QUICK REPLY! IS THE AVERAGE WAIT TIME FOR THE TV ABOUT A YEAR?
@metalcrip89 for me it was 1.5 years others have said about a year. You have to be patient!
Our cable and internet was out for several weeks after the latest hurricane. How would this affect me? Would they charge me the 1000 dollars?
Situations like this aren't addressed in the Terms of Service. I would imagine the only time they would charge you $1000 is if you fail to return the tv after they asked for it back.
Just got mine today. The sound was surprisingly good, it isn't bad, does have some bugs though.
I've been pretty happy with it so far! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
What do I do if I order the TV but decided to change my mind after? I don’t want it anymore
Did you just put your name on the waiting list or did they confirm that they are sending one to you? If you gave your credit card info and they are sending one to you, you can try to email them to cancel the delivery. If you're just on the waiting list you don't need to do anything. I hope this helps!
I legit forgot that I ordered one and just got an email last week starting to finalize my order
Oh yay! What a nice surprise!! 😃
@kstorrer So I opened the box, set the tv up only to find out it was damaged during shipping 😔
@drizzyqurkel I'm so sorry that is so disappointing!!! Have you contacted Telly support? They will send you a replacement!

How long did you end up waiting for the application process
Like for them to send it out and give you shipping information and everything like that
It took a year and a half for me. Others have said about a year. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
I just got accepted to get shipped one here in Aurora Colorado
Wow her arms❤❤❤❤❤
Just found this but when i signed up didnt ask me for any credit card information
it asks you when you fill out the rest of the reservation, which is when the telly is ready to be shipped
@EthanMalinow ah so that's gonna be awhile then
Yes. It took 1.5 years for me but hopefully sooner for you!
@@kstorrer wonder why it takes them so long to ship them out must have alot of people and I hope so also

I plan on doing a follow-up video where I address some things that I missed! Thank you for pointing that out! 😃
I wonder how long they require you to keep it connected to the internet if for some reason it gets disconnected to the internet before they charge you 😂
You forgot the motion sensor and the games the came pre-installed in the tv that actually work with the camera on the screen
Yes! I might do a follow-up video to discuss some things i missed! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
Im asian and free is so tempting to me.
whats stoping u from just unpluging that bottem display from the pcb lol
The thing is with this tv, it’s always listening cause it’s always on. When time comes to replace the thing years down the line you literally can’t or are on the hook for spending the $1000. I’ve known the Chinese have been listening for a while but this is absurd lol
As someone who has one of these...remember that aspect you mentioned about how it's hard to complain about something that's free.
We need to complain during this beta on anything complaint worthy, free or not. Why they sent them to us.
Do you know if you can turn off the first screen of the smart screen? (where the weather and news are). I've heard that you can, but I haven't been able to?
@@kstorrer If you "hold" down the power button to turn off the TV, it will turn off the bottom screen too.
@@1D10CRACYI meant if you could turn it off while the main screen is on?
@@kstorrer Not really OFF...but you can use it to "play" music on live one and just hit pause :D
@@kstorrerthat would defeat the purpose of them sending you the TV for free. That's where the ad shows. Of course you can only turn it off when the main screen is off
What state are you in I signed up but still didn’t get it
I'm in KS. It did take 1.5 years for me. I hope you get yours soon!
So, there’s a lot of cons? If that’s the case, it’s not worth it even if it’s free.
If you hold the power button, both screens turn off.
Why it doesn’t let u watch full screen
It didn’t ask me for a credit card
It doesn't ask for a card during the reservation process, but when they are getting ready to ship your Telly they will ask for it then. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
I just signed up for it and I be putting the tv in my bedroom and i don’t mind sharing my data
Cool! I hope you get it soon!! 😃
The ads at the bottom all the time could get annoying. But for free you could learn to live with them.
They're honestly not too bad. I can tune them out! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
It’s a fantastic sound bar.
I know! It's Harman Kardon! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
Since im replacing my main tv with this one (i got it 3 days ago) hooking it up today Would you recommend me putting my Roku in the back of it or should I just use the thing that comes with it?
I would probably use your Roku since that's what you're comfortable with, but it's completely up to you!! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
@kstorrer Thank you So much!!!!! I'm going to put it up today. Watching your video helped me out a lot. Thank you. Happy New Year!!!!!
Waiting in mine to be delivered right now, delivery date is Monday
Nice! Let me know what you think!

You said most house holds have a tv larger than 55 inch tv are you kidding me. Obviously you are high class because most middle class or poor class people have TVs under 55 inches. I have a 44 inch tv I made payments on Amazon for my tv.

It at least seems honest considering all smart TV's are spying on what we watch and buy.
Honestly that's what I was thinking too!
What this is the new free spy TV not me I will get my own TV with no rules
Never had to add my credit card
Hell No !!!! Not a good
What is stopping someone from putting a piece of cardboard or something else over the bottom screen to block out the ads?
It doesn’t even seem to have full screen viewing
The top screen is 55" and it's full-screen once you select something to watch. I didn't have anything actually playing during this video. Thanks for your comment! 😃
whos to say i wont put a piece of cardboard over the ads and never have to watch ads! (BTW im completely joking, dont do this!!!)
but i have an honest question, what if i receive the tv, and you dont use it much, will you get in trouble if its sitting powered off for long periods of time?
@@liam-nn5510this is a good question but unfortunately I don't have the answer. I've not heard from anyone saying that they got in "trouble" and had to send it back. Obviously they want you to be watching the TV, but I think it would have to be an extended time period of the tv being off before they ask for it back. I mean people go on vacation and other things so they gave to expect that the TV won't be consistently on. Thanks so much for watching! 😃
How do u share data be needed too know
It would not be very hard to take it apart a little bit and disable the bottom screen
just put a piece of paper over the bottom right corner lol
This was my husband's thought too! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
That would be soooo distracting watching it with adverts below screen . Atleast it’s free for anyone who can’t afford a tv.
I can totally tune them out somehow, but I'm sure it can be very distracting for some! Thanks so much for watching! 😃
It is not distracting at all bro. I have 4 smart tvs so it does not mean that a person cannot afford a tv...lol.
I find it hard to beleive skmeone could afford internet but not a tv. A 55" tv these days can be had for cheap. This whole thing is a big scam. Nothing is free
Not a particularly good review. You don’t really give much information on this.
What information were you wanting to know?
Big NOPE!
It is not practical and will not sell in the real world
I did not give my Credit card and they are sending it
For it showing off weather stocks and the data for the ads why should you need something else to stream with? Not a such of a smart TV, but it won't last long and they probably will brick it 😂
