Please do make a video on the conveyor belt, I'm having the worst time trying to make the tracking work properly and it drives me nuts cause I love that machine.

I am having a tough time cutting these. I just can't seem to get it right. I have done 86 L then the 12 inch cut and then the 2 inch cut and my paper still seems to long. I try using the old piece and I can't seem to get that back on either. What am I doing wrong? I have this exact same maching.

Dude, it’s so terrible! After I shot this video my drum spring came apart so I converted mine to hook and loop. Honestly though I wish I had saved my money for a better machine. I’m sorry you are having trouble.

I have the Craftex version of this machine and agree that it's not the best drum sander in the world, but, hey, it's adequate.
Getting back to your problem, here's my suggestion: if you've followed the manual's instructions (and based on the measurements you've provided, you're right on) and it appears to be 1" too long, then that's the right length. Remember that you to tension the paper on the drum, once you've fixed th paper to the left end of the drum and rolled the paper along till it's at the right end, you'll have to rotate the right end of the drum towards the rear of the machine to bring the slot closer to the end of the paper and allow you to insert the free end into the slot. I have found that on my machine that it's possible to over-rotate the right end too far, which screws up the spring's ability to maintain tension on the paper. And of course when that happens, the paper tears at that end and you're back to having to replace it again. "The gift that keeps on giving!" But if things are working as they should, after fastening the right end down, you'll juat have to release the tension on that right end and allow the paper to settle into its operating position.
