I think a lot of the sentencing depends on the district attorney or the judge. She dropped him in because she was blatantly, disregarding the rules, and there was a sign right in front of her, telling her not to place her child on the barrier of the fence around the pit where the animals lived. She did, disregarded the rules made for safety, and her baby died from it. The district attorney decided she suffered enough and refused to prosecute. Not long after that, a woman deliberately dropped her baby in the cheetah pit at another zoo im another another state. Luckily, zoo personnel were able to get to the baby and he wasn’t armed. The second lady read the news of the first one and saw that she wasn’t in trouble for getting her kid killed and decided that was a great way to get rid of her child without getting in trouble for it. Until we get mind readers, I'm pretty sure there will always be a problem with sentencing. Heavy sentencing until the 2ks led to bleeding hearts having credibility, which lead to lighter sentencing, which is leading to hard nosed individuals having credibility.
You're right, it does need an overhaul: Heavy sentences aren't always the answer when rehabilitation can be attempted. She is an angry drunk and alcoholism is a disease. We can all agree the attack was vicious, but her apparent issues coupled with the alcohol were the triggers. A few drinks tend to bring out the truth. Not to mention our prison system is an absolute joke and tends to make those who come out even more hardened due to this misguided belief of "just lock em up".
I feel like 150 days in jail for this lovely individual was another slap in the victims face! I sincerely hope that the victim is having a beautiful day today!
Her ramblings make me wonder if she hasnt been trafficked. Still crazy to try to bite out your sister's eye! She should be sentenced to a mental hospital if this isnt just drugs/drinking
I cannot comprehend why alcohol advertising is permitted everywhere despite its potential to incite harmful behaviors, while tobacco advertising is universally banned. Even with the effects of second-hand smoke considered, tobacco does not begin to approach even the ballpark of the same level of harm to others as alcohol. Also, just 5 months for a proven career in domestic violence? The US justice system truly is a joke sometimes.
I agree about the alcohol/tobacco issue. You can order alcohol thru Instacart, door dash, Uber eats, but they won't deliver a pack of cigarettes with your order. Their reason? A minor might be ordering the cigarettes. 🤦♀️
@@Pitoonya But "A minor might be ordering the alcohol" is acceptable all around? Insane. So she has had at least 2 other arrests for assault and battery as well as many other arrests and all she got was a slap on the wrist? What will it take for her to get a real sentence? Does she have to kill someone first? People with DUI’s, assault and battery, and shoplifters get very light sentences and when they do they will keep doing what they are doing because they know they will barely face any consequences. One woman just before Christmas saw a judge for her 96th conviction for shoplifting and she had tools to remove tags and everything and she and her lawyer asked the judge for probation because of her health problems that was not new so she was shoplifting while having “sick with chronic illnesses” and the judge said “no because she has had 96 convictions and only 1 led to a few months in jail. They begged for probation and he said no so they then begged to allow her to report to jail AFTER the holidays and he said “why? So you can shoplift your kids presents”? She got 18 months and was taken to jail immediately. 96 convictions. I know this is different as it’s a bad assault and battery but like the other woman they keep committing crimes and keep getting arrested and keep getting slaps on the wrist
It’s our justice system. I witnessed a violent assault by a very disturbed man in front of where I work. He has been arrested 6 times for assault. There are more bacteria in human saliva than in a dog's. This eye injury is much more dangerous than getting a foreign object in the eye or walking into a branch.
Even when a dog licks and eats its own poo, which has extremely toxic bacteria in it??
@@supergeekjay My text is a bit inaccurate, sorry. There are many bacteria in dog saliva that do not affect humans, but do affect (other) dogs. When it comes to the bacteria in human saliva, on the other hand, there are no non-affective ones for humans. Therefore is human saliva much more dangerous for humans than dog saliva.

Our court system needs a serious overhaul… 150 days in jail is not enough
Disgusting 😡😡😡😡
The court can't stop a crazy person from biting their sister in the eye. Think about it.... Do you think this lunatic would have not bit her eye if she knew she would get a longer sentence? OR... would it have been wiser to consider treatment someone who is capable of something this insane BEFORE they do it?
Do you think this was a perfect normal stable person before she bit the eye? Or might there have been a clue of the danger this person present before the incident and no one gave a fu@k?
More importantly we need to get r id of diversity.
The officer driving her to jail must have been traumatized for the rest of his life!

This seems like alcohol intoxication combined with drug use and a pretty severe psychological trauma of some kind in her past.
100%
@DragonSnorts there’s a reason why they closed and there are plenty of mental health facilities. I’m shocked you haven’t seen one yet.
The amount of pills in her bag and the drink, it's a lot. There are a few cases of people on drugs biting other people's faces.
Yeah the psychological trauma of having to grow the hell up, mental illness is an overused term and it being used as an excuse for bad behavior.
Insane.
Same perverted logic is that a boy can go to war, drive a tank or a plane, brutally kill, snipe, stab or burn other human beings, or die miserably in a ditch, or live through years of torture as a prisoner of war, but to crack open a 2% beer can is unthinkable.
FUN FACT ABOUT UTAH: Outdoor advertisements of beer & liquor didn't get decriminalized here until 1999. :D
Because people have free will. It's not the alcohol.companies fault if you decide to get sloshed. The "please drink responsibly" at the end of every commercial is a liability statement and it basically means "we just make a product, you have to use it responsibly" no one forced her to get shat faced, therefore it's HER OWN FAULT. Look up datura trips. I wouldn't be surprised at all if that's what she took - getting picked up by the police is a common outcome. That shit is dangerous
I would bet that's more than just alcohol. There were several pill bottles in her bag. Even if they were pills she got prescribed and should be taking, there are tons of medications you should never mix with alcohol.

The way the officer waited a breath for her to howl before he continued with stating his mileage 😂 That pause and delivery were comedic genius
Sadly I encountered someone like this. She definitely had mental health issues and didn't know she was on powerful medication. We all took gummies and then an hour later she ended up in a delusional psychosis just like this. It was so scary because you can't talk them out of it or reason with them. Thankfully we took her to the hospital and she got a nice charcoal detox and was perfectly fine afterwards.
i definitely understand the feeling :( my roommate invites a coworker to our house and they took edibles- it ended up that they had DID and a violent alter came out. i remember running out of my room and asking "what the fuck is going on" because they had my roommate pinned to the floor.
It was the person's responsibility to inform you that they were on medication. It was totally that person's fault for not considering that.
I freaked out when I saw the thumbnail. I used to know a lady who looked just like her, she would act very similar when drinking and it could even be just beer. She was very scary and unpredictable. She passed away years ago falling down some stairs when drunk.
So a charcoal type med works to detox?
@@justinaharrison7146 Activated charcoal. It's sort of a liquid, but very thick. It binds drugs and toxins. It works as well as pumping the stomach, but it's a lot less invasive.

Each time it’s 72 hours in jail, then released into the public to keep up what he’s been doing. I thought we had 3 strike rules or something but I guess that was back in the day.
Yes, she’s a bad person. And so is the judge who only gave her 150 days.
No because I’ve NEVER seen alcohol make someone tweak like this

Glad to see the ex husband still cares, who knows what would’ve happened if he wasn’t called or something
I was looking for someone commenting on that. Just because they aren’t married doesn’t mean they can’t care about each other. I also feel like (completely speculative) that her sister may play a hand into that, if Stephanie made excuses or always forgives her for anything she had put them both through.
She needs to pay for her sister's medical bills but my guess is she won't have any money.
