Some minor errors i see there is his down throw was nerfed before the first tier list & before update 1.1.1 Luigi was insanely overpowered he was so overtuned the devs have to rework him to stop him from breaking smash 4 he was an easy top tier but thats pre patched luigi
Hey Islanders, great video but I noticed something while watching. When you talk about certain aspects of Luigi's kit, such as his 0 to death in Ultimate or his Cyclone in Smash 4, you show clips that don't showcase those moves, and in the case of his zero to death, show and instance where the player failed the zero to death. I love your analysis on Smash characters, and hope you continue making them!
Since when did Luigi have any "Zero to Death" combos? Since both his "Smash 64" Uppercut and "Melee" Drill kick moves have been immensely nerfed, I no longer even rely on using them as reliable KO moves in future Smash titles.
@SiMgUrL1721 Luigi had a zero to death since smash 4 and the old Dair drill is worse for Luigi in 4 & ultimate because the meteor of his dair helps him to combo in those 2 games His zero to death is down throw, Dair, fast fall Nair, Dair, fast falling weak up air to up-B which kills alot of characters around the 80s to 100s but yeah if you give his old dair it becomes a worse combo tool especially how combo specific smash 4 and ultimate are
@@wackywakko6694 I actually heard about how Luigi was originally overpowered in the vanilla "Smash 4", but I'm talking about how Nintendo should just give Luigi back his "Smash 64" Uppercut and "Melee" Drill kick back in "Smash 6" if that ever does happen. It really doesn't hurt Luigi if he only has up to two overpowered moves assuming if they completely eliminate his "zero to death" combos. Plus, I'm just not a combo oriented person in general. Plus, it was super fun with using his Uppercut and Drill kick moves as powerful KO moves back then.
@SiMgUrL1721 yeah sure maybe in smash 6 but we can't expect Sakurai bring it back too soon on both we have to wait and see even tho it's not that difficult to do luigi combos in smash 4 and ultimate
I remember that I stopped completely playing as Mario for a pretty long time once Luigi was unlocked as a playable character in both "Smash 64" and "Melee" in the early 2000s when I was still a big kid back then. LOL Even though I now play as a bunch of other characters in the Smash series (especially in "Smash 4 and Ultimate"), I always go back to playing as both Luigi and Mario pretty frequently.
@@fozell3640 The reason why I still play as Luigi more often than I play as Mario in Smash is because that Luigi has much better KO moves and recovery, in general. It's not just that Luigi has much better character abilities, but he's also been my number one favorite Mario character for a very long time ever since I started playing "Mario Kart 64" as a kid all the way back in 2000. LOL As of 2023, I actually now have up to 10 favorite Mario characters. Mario is still ranked as my second favorite character to this very day since I actually like both Luigi and Mario a lot.
That first Smash 4 tier list was released the day before Corrin and Bayo were released So much had happened, a big one being that after Diddy was nerfed he was considered to be top 3 before getting nerfed himself
Yeah Luigi was so broken he has so many powerful kill confirms with down throw Down throw + Bair Down throw +Nair Down throw + Dair Down throw + Up special Which are easier to land due to Down throw being 75 knockback/30 knockback growth but those doesn't compare the monstrosity that is Down throw + cyclone this kill confirm can destroy alot of characters at 90s to 100s which is insane and even scarier with rage
Most people attempt to do this while the patch buff the down air to make it harder! But luckily for all of us we be able to follow up the combo if jump and buff down air immediately and follow up the combo instead grabbing them!😊
Yes. He posted this video just in time for the unofficial "Year of Luigi". LOL The reason why I'm saying that it's unofficial is because that Nintendo is obviously not celebrating it this year.
I know that Luigi is a solid Mid tier in "Melee", but I bet that he would have easily been either Top or High tier if he still kept his "Smash 64" Uppercut and Recovery. LOL From "Brawl" all the way up to "Ultimate", I wish that he would have still kept his "Melee" Drill kick move as well. Sure. His "Smash 64" Uppercut and "Melee" Drill kick moves were overpowered, but it was fun to consistently KO opponents repeatedly with those moves over and over again. LOL Especially since Mario never actually had a single overpowered move in his kit. What's wrong with having Luigi just simply keeping two overpowered moves in his kit? Especially since Luigi was never actually meant to be an all-around/balanced character like his brother Mario is (supposedly).
Ik this 6 months old but eh not really in brawl he lost his KO power due sakurai want brawl to be friendly for casuals which lead to 64 & some melee veterans got their KO power somewhat gutted In smash 4 I don't agree that he's an all around character he leans more into grappler type style character which in ultimate he's completely a grappler
@@wackywakko6694 In my opinion, I honestly think that Luigi is better than Mario is in every single Smash game (even in Smash 64). LOL Especially since Luigi always pretty much had much better KO and Recovery options than Mario did over the years. Remember that the reason why Miyamoto and Sakurai chose to give Luigi much better character abilities (in their own series and the Smash series) was to have them make an attempt to slowly bring him out of Mario's shadow as time went on. Especially since Luigi used to be pretty overshadowed by Mario from the NES to the N64 era. It's also a funny coincidence on how Mario was originally pretty chubby from the NES to the N64 era back then as well. Since Luigi's Mansion was initially released on the same exact year that Mario became a lot thinner in his stomach/belly area (again for the second time) when Melee was released near the end of 2001. The first time that Mario originally lost a lot of weight was when World was first released for the SNES in 1991. If you look at his character sprites real closely in Mario 3 and World back-to-back, you'll start to immediately notice that the front of his stomach was sticking out much closer to the front end of his nose in Mario 3 back then. Since Mario is certainly much more famous, he really doesn't need to actually excel in the ability department at all whatsoever. LOL
@SiMgUrL1721 I get what your coming from about Mario being the main mascot & his inconsistent moments however also idk about Luigi being better in 64 because he's considered one of the bottom 3 of that game even tho he's not awful (since 64 roster is balanced between eachother unlike melee & brawl and somewhat smash 4) but his KO power is somewhat of a mixed bag the problem he's weaker slower Mario is not until melee where Luigi became better than Mario where he got his broken dair & fair and especially in brawl where he just jab up b however in Smash 4 & ultimate are the only games I cant say which one is better because they both have strengths and weaknesses at one or the other their good at that's more a preference with those 2 in those games (this is coming from me because I'm a Luigi main in 4 & ult)
@@wackywakko6694 I personally like to know who your favorite Mario characters are since I'm curious if you have both Luigi and Mario on your favorite character list like how I do. @SiMgUrL1721 yeah I like both the brothers they are in my favorite characters list I do agree that I do feel mario was treated a bit poorly alot sometimes while Luigi is my favorite character in the Mario franchise even I will admit he got more & more recognition overtime especially the year of Luigi made him more loved than Mario which to me yeah Mario needs alot more love he is the mascot of Nintendo

Hit stun cancelling wasn't removed but changed to about 40 frames.
True, but for practical purposes, and in comparison from Brawl, it essentially didn't exist in Smash 4
