Pulp papers create the loveliest cauliflower blooms and back runs. Once we know the characteristics of any art supply-paint, paper, whatever…we can use them to their fullest advantage. Thanks again for magnificent tutorials, Paul. Happy New Year from me to you 🇺🇸 🇮🇪 🎆
Thanks for sharing and Happy New year to you too!
Paul, another great tutorial, as always. I see Jenna Rainey has placed you in her favourite artists list AGAIN. She says you are her favourite. The lady has good taste as you are my favourite as well. I have learnt so much from you over the years and just love your painting and video style. Happy 2024.
Ah, lovely comment and yes she is a real sweetie for doing that!
I'm so, so happy you're bringing out the positives with good quality cellulose paper here. I feel so bullied loving it for some of my works sometimes. I do not dislike cotton in the slightest, I just don't like using it for some subjects and projects.😢
I'm so glad!
I heard you mention Hahnemuhle a few times on your tutorials and I found the loose sheets at my local art store and I think it is my favourite brand ever. I have never been able to like Arches as they always cause hard edges on my paintings, except the 3 300lb sheet which is decent but I only use it occasionally . We have Cansen and Fabriano here in Canada too but I am not convinced by them. loose sheets are much cheaper than blocks. so I usually just get them.
Great info - thanks for sharing!
I purchased a pad of Baohong Meeden 100% cotton cold pressed, 140 lb on Amazon which I'm quite impressed with. Quite a bit cheaper than Arches as well. I believe it's made in China
Thanks for sharing Cathy!
Many thanks for clarifying "any decent watercolour paper will do" by way of these excellent tutorials.
I completely agree that cellulose paper can be better for some projects, or some painting styles. Actually, I use it more often than cotton paper, and I have 30 years experience in watercolours. I like that cellulose paper keeps colours brighter, it also reduces the amount of paint you spend. If one doesn't paint in many layers, only 1 or 2, good quality cellulose paper is fantastic. I love the paper you use, Bockingford, it's a bit expensive where I live, but totally worth it. Another great paper I like to use is Fabriano Studio 25% cotton. It's relatively cheap, and I like it's texture. The best unexpensive cotton paper if definitely Baohong.
Thanks for sharing - definitely need to try the Baohong!
Baohong is better than some expensive watercolour papers
Boahung and Meeden seem to have similar branding. Are they related or even the same?
Ooh I've been waiting for a video like this, but I didn't quite know to ask the question 🤔
Hope you enjoyed it!
A happy new year! And thanks for another lovely tutorial! Just what I needed. I've recently started actually using my expensive Arches papers 😆 and experienced some of the difficulties they present, if one is not used to them. But I've also come to appreciate the advantages. I'm looking forward to further exploring the potential of different papers.
Hahnemühle offer a 'Watercolour selection', which is a bundle of 14 different sheets of paper from their range. It's lying on my stash, waiting to be tried. A lot to do in 2024 ... 😀
Thanks! - The Hahnemühle 'Watercolour selection' sounds a great idea.
Thanks for looking out for us little guys that can’t afford 100% cotton papers for everything! I would love to hear your thoughts on hot press paper and it’s uses vs. cold press (and, of course, rough😊). There are many videos out there stating that this person uses cold press, and this person uses hot press etc, but I haven’t found one that ever explains “why”. Thanks for your amazing videos!
I'll look into that - but generally hot press is used if you want to paint in more detail because of the smooth surface.
I have tried hot press paper, and am not a fan of it for painting. But yes if you are sketching or drawing and coloring without water it's great. At least for me personally. I prefer the cold press paper. Love the texture it has. 😊
Thank you for this video Paul, Happy New Year! My favourite cotton paper is the Baohong artist paper, it is more affordable then Arches and Bockingford, which are very expensive here (Hungary), and I found that the same quality.
Thanks for sharing! - many thanks!
Happy 2024!🎉. Love this video. Gave me some good tips to try new paper and maybe try cellulose paper. But I really struggle with paints. I have St Petersburg’s pan paints which I love but cannot get any longer. Which paints do you like the best and do you prefer tubes or pans? Thanks for all your videos.
Happy new year!! ... I prefer pans ... Check out this video, I list all my favourite paints: ruclips.net/video/wdDlcAH7hhY/видео.html
@@ArtbyPaulClark Thanks so much. I’ll watch it. I really respect your opinion as you are so down to earth.
Good morning Paul and Happy New Year 2024, I look forward to another year with you and Margot ! Such beautiful tutorials and explanations of the types of paper ! I appreciate the shorter paintings as I recover from this foot surgery , it’s been a challenge keeping up and I can’t wait to get started !
Blessings to you and Margot and thank you for all you do for our group !!
Thanks so much Gretchen ... and same to you!
Happy new year.
I just got arches watercolour paper for xmas present. OMG brilliant , i love it. But it is difficult to lift colour. 😕
I started with windsor and newton, which is ok.
I have tried fabriano, i dont like it, very challenging for me to use unless its a detailed less water painting.
I fo have cheaper paper from clairfontaine which is great for practicing something new.
Which is cellulose.
I have bockingford block too.
Thats ok.
Thanks for the video explaining as i now which to use with intention rather than winging it.
My pleasure and thanks for sharing the info!
I have used many papers,
But I personally like Chitrapat watercolor paper made in India over other brands,
Because it’s really affordable and really thick (440 GSM),
Excellent quality.
So I believe if I am getting something inexpensive and almost same as arches ,
I should use it.
It costs around 800 INR for A3 440 GSM 25 sheets , pure cotton paper ,
That probable will be 9 USD
Great stuff - thanks for sharing!
I never worry about the paper buckling. After the painting is finished, you can spray the back with clean water, tape it down face up, and let it dry. As good as new!
Thanks for info!
The problem with the paper buckling is it creates little puddles of water and paint on your painting. This can lead to unintentional backruns and splotches of pigment where you don’t want it.
I’ve never tried Bockingford or a heavy weight of pulp paper; I may have to give it another look for occasional practice❤ thank you, Paul!
I like the Bockingford so much, especially when just practicing.
Love your work and all of your instruction. BTW who is Matt?
Thanks - check out Matt! ruclips.net/video/zlfKdbWwruY/видео.html
Happy and safe 2023 to all❤🎉. Thank you for the tutorial.
Can't comment on thee papers as I haven't used mant brands/ types
Of papers. Before online shopping, had to use local made paper and now have to use the most economical brand because oof financial reasons (except when my daughter gifts Arches/ Chitrapat sheets, God bless her).
Thanks so much ... and same to you! ... and your daughter!
Hello Mr. Paul Clark, I am an admirer and student of your art, but this time I had to ask, why didn't you paint the same scene on both papers so that you could convey to us the differences you noticed? Thanks for sharing and congratulations on your work!
Good thought but I thought it would be a boring video if everyone had to watch it painted twice 😁
Happy New year Paul thank-you for all the tutorials throughout 2023 i am looking forward to another year of of your paintings i love them all not only do you have a exceptional artistic gift but you are an excellent orator and teacher and a warm friendly nature
Many thanks and a Happy New Year to you too!
KEN Bromley do a sample bundle with 11 different papers, most of which you mentioned. A good way to try different papers out.
Fab - thanks for sharing Shirley!
LOL! Did you just say, "Can you show me the way to the Arches factory" using an American accent? I really did laugh out loud. We Americans! What can you do? LOL!
Lol!!! - love that .... I was trying for an indeterminate accent but now you say it it does sound a bit American!!!
I think it’s time for you to have a French lesson soon… and as you seem to like a little danse in 2024, maybe a French cancan would be great!!!
😂😂
I wish you again a good good good health!!!
Anne F.
Lol! thanks Anne, I'll have the Can can ready for 'open mic night!'
Thank you so much for the Where the Hell is Matt video link. I’d never seen it before and I’m still smiling. My favorite cotton paper is probably Hahnemühle The Collection as I like the texture better than Arches but I use Arches a lot too. Good economy cotton papers I use are Baohong Artist’s or Baohong Academy (student grade but still good), and Leyton which is 160 lb. I’ve tried Fabriano Studio which is 20% cotton but don’t care for it. I will give Bockingford a try if I can find it in the States. Happy New Year to you and Margot and thank you for all you’ve taught us!
Thanks for the info and so pleased you enjoyed Matt! ....and a Happy New Year to you to!
Omg 😂 I discovered from your video that Bockingford is pulp paper. Based on a price and good reviews I assumed it was cotton, just thought it’s not as good as Arches. Makes so much more sense now.
I like Strathmore 500 cotton, but they have it only in a couple smaller sizes. Baohong also has a great paper, like it very much (Chinese though).
I find pulp paper so much harder to add layers of paint, lifts so easily, but for some it may be just an advantage. Thank you for the informative video!
Glad it was helpful! - many thanks!
Love Lanaquarelle which is also a French paper I believe. Hard to come by in the U.S though. Also love Baohong Academy and Artist both
Thanks for sharing info!
I bought 25% cotton Winsor & Newton watercolor paper. Didn't enjoy painting on it. Perhaps Bockingford is better.
Give it a go!
Could you paint a lesson in the style of Carl Larsson such as “ Breakfast Under the Big Birch,”, or “The Kitchen”, or Andrew Wyeth’s “Wind From the Sea”?
Love his work but it's very detailed and would take far too long for a tutorial ... but thanks for the suggestion!
Happy New Year Paul! I am just blown away by the sheer beauty of the ship at sunset - absolutely stunning!
Thanks so much and glad you enjoyed it!
I agree. It was incredible. I was worried when he began painting the boat, but it was perfect in the end.
After years of using nothing but Arches, I'm finally trying out Fabriano Artistico. More out of necessity than choice. The art shop didn't have my usual 300gsm Arches in stock. As a substitute for Arches, I have to admit Fabriano is pretty good. I've noticed the paint doesn't "lift out" quite as readily. Looking at it in terms of budget, Fabriano is cheaper than Arches. (Though not by much.)
Great stuff - thanks for sharing!
I wonder which ship it is in the first painting. Maybe the Kalmar Nyckel? There aren't a lot of reconstructions of that kind of ship around...
I think you are right - just googled it and it looks like the one!
Happy New Year, Paul! You are a joy to watch, and I never missed one of your videos. Thank you so much for all the work, talent and wonderful sense of humor that you put into every videos. I love it!!! Cheers and all the best for 2024!
Same to you and thanks so much!!!!
There are two good papers out of China (both 100% cotton) that are great papers at a better price: Baohong (professional grade similar to Arches) and Academy (student version of Baohong). I have also tried Cheap Joes 300 lbs abd 140 lbs cotton papers, which are a good price - both of these are good. All of the pulp based papers I have tried here in the US have been crap.
Thanks for the tips!
Canson Heritage is my favorite. I do use pulp paper to test my mixes on and I use the cheap Canson paper for that. I like Arches and Baohong also.
Great stuff - thanks for sharing!
Thanks Paul, great video. My first 100% cotton paper was Matthew Palmer Watercolor Block NOT surface 140lbs (11" x 15") and I still like to use that paper and it is a reasonable price. I also really like the Daler Rowney Langton Prestige Block ROUGH surface 140lbs (14" x 20") which is more expensive. I also use the pulp version of Daler Rowney Langton paper, 140lbs NOT, for painting portraits as I don't need to use as much wet-in-wet for portraits that I use for for landscapes. I should maybe now try some heavier pulp paper for landscapes.
Many thanks for sharing info!
The video you recommended was very cute. I liked the follow up video where he explained how it was funded just as well. The problem with most of the world isn't the people. It's governments. He proved that. Good watch and thanks for pointing it out to me. 😊
Glad you enjoyed it! - it's one of my favs!
I was expecting you would tell more examples of wood pulp papers 😢
... I can add Canson, Cotman and Langton to the list!
@@ArtbyPaulClark canson but which one? Montval, xl, graduate?
Hi Paul, thank you for another great video...i have noticed in many of your tutorials that paint spreads downwards...you mention 15 degree tilt here, is that widely used in your tutorials? I usually paint flat and have struggled getting things to look natural as paint spreads outwards in all directions??
Yes I would always have a slight tilt.
I recently used some Strathmore that wasn’t 100% cotton and OMG everything was so much harder! The paints acted weird. The paper buckled even with extremely limited amounts of water. It was a whole thing. I won’t make that mistake again!
Great stuff - thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this paper information. You are ine class act Paul, and you always give me a reason to smile... something needed so much!!!! I AM from Alabama and the Arches would get me the stink eye, lolol!!!!!
Lol! - Great stuff - thanks for sharing!
I wish I could ‘blag it’ like you do, Paul. The ship painting is lovely, but my favourite is the landscape painting. It’s absolutely glowing and stunning. I love the abstracts, especially yours.
I tried cotton paper for the first time just before Christmas and I wasn’t too keen. It’s a bit difficult to sketch on, and the marks on the paper looked like tiny bricks when painted over. Maybe a fault in production.
I’ll stick to the pulp paper, especially as I’m still very much a learner. Thank you for another wonderful tutorial, and Happy New Year to you and Margot. 🎉😊
Thanks for sharing and a Happy New Year to you too!
Happy new year paul and Margo. I’ve been following you for about 2 years now. I run a watercolour group at our local senior centre and we love painting your tutorials. I discovered this wonderful company which I believe is in the UK (I’m in Canada) called Wanderings. They sell 100% cotton Indian handmade deckled edged in different weights and sizes. The presentation box is so beautiful too. I’ve also bought 2 sizes of their leather bound watercolour journals . The paper i buy (on Amazon) is 140lbs and it’s really thick. I use their 90lb to make watercolour prints on my printer which look quite authentic printed on watercolour paper. The only real issue I have is the paper can tear and doesn’t do well with lifting off. Just wondering if you or any of your followers have used this and have an opinion.
Great info - thanks for sharing Jacqui ... and say 'hi' to your group for me!
Thank you! I am not "good enough" to afford the heavy paper so thats why my super wet paintings are a mess. Relieved theres a reason actually! Love your tutorials!
Thanks so much - no such thing as 'not good enough!!" - you can do it Janet!
Happy New Year! Thanks for the comments on the various papers…sometimes in depends on the subject as to what I use…favourites..Arches,Bockingford,St.Cuthberts,LanAquaelle …thank you for your excellent videos
Thanks ... and same to you Linda!
Thank you for the beautiful tutorials and the demonstration of the different paper types. Happy painting!:))
Thanks so much 😊 ... and to you!
Happy New Year to you and Margot! This is extremely helpful. Regarding the comment left about ambiguity- I have never thought your "any decent paper will do" was confusing; you have often mentioned the texture of cold press and why you like it.
Same to you! - thanks!
DEar Paul, thank you very much for these wonderful tutorials and teaching and I wish you a HAPPY NEW YEAR.
Thanks so much and same to you!
I would say my absolute favorite paper would be Baohong both artist and academy grade. My favorite pulp/cellulose paper would probably be fluid. Fluid 100 is the cotton version but if it just says fluid, it’s pulp paper. I really, really want to try the st. Cuthburts mill paper so bad but I haven’t been able to afford it any time I come across it. But one day! Hopefully soon!
Great stuff - thanks for sharing!
I can not only give you a voice lesson to help you get more performances of Captain Von Trapp; I can give you a dancing lesson. Bahahahahahahaa! That was wonderful.
Yes, if you can teach me to stay in tune during 'Edelweiss' that would be cool. Did you check out the video I suggested .... that's the reason for the dance!
Actually, I thought your dance was wonderful. I did check out the video, and it actually made me happy. I guess I told you I had been a professional dancer. I always loved it, the way it felt with the music and body together. Thanks for suggesting the wonderful video!
@@ArtbyPaulClark Also, I assume you were joking because you may remember I was a singer, also, eventually a professor of vocal science and performance. I have NEVER heard you sing "off-key" as you said. You have sung a few tunes here, and it was always on pitch! But, after a few beers I will have you singing Rigoletto-- all three acts!
Hello Paul and happy New Year!
When I started painting in watercolor, I used Soviet paper which was older than me. Unfortunately I never knew whether it was pulp or cotton, but it was wonderful. But soon I ran out of it and it was impossible to renew the stock. I then tried a couple of pulp papers from the same factory produced nowadays, but it was rubbish. Some time later I was advised to try Baohong 100% cotton paper. It is a Chinese brand, a comparatively cheap one, but of very good quality. I now mainly use 300 and 230 gsm papers from Baohong. Curiously, they differ a lot in their properties, but both are quite good. Since then I also tried Fabriano 50% cotton (and did not like it at all) and Finenolo 10% cotton (and it was much better, but still Baohong is my favourite). For this New Year, I got some Vista Gallery 25% cotton paper as a present (Russian brand, produced in Malaysia), but did not have time to try it yet.
Thanks for sharing info and a Happy New Year to you too!
fantastic work, wonderful tutorials 😊😊
Thank you so much 😀
Bellísimo!!! Me inspira para pintar. Los barcos son mis favoritos y los atardeceres, con todos los colores que se ven. Mil gracias, por compartir su experiencia. Felicitaciones!!!
Many thanks!
Happy New Year! Strathmore and Canson papers are the most readily available brands in my area. Arches is also sold in some stores. I'm mostly working on Strathmore 400 series and Soho Urban Artist mixed media bricks. I use the Soho brick with Derwent Inktense watercolor pencils rather than watercolor paints.
Thanks for sharing info and a Happy New Year to you too!
Great to hear - have fun!
Winsor Newton has granulation and texture mediums. You could test them out some week.
Cheers Steve ... I'll add it them to my list!
Thanks Paul. You have no idea how much your videos mean to me. Happy New Yea!
Thanks so much - very generous! .... and same to you!
Love the ship, and i was using arches and hahnamuele cotton, and then mistakingly purchased hahnamuele pulp and noticed a huge difference!!! Once i realized this, I learned to paint less wet and wet into pulp and used it to practice. Its perfect for botanicals
Thanks for sharing Kelly!
Thank you so much, as a novice if found this very helpful.
Happy new year to you both x
Thanks so much ... and same to you!
I have a large amount Winsor and Newton Cotman paper bought several years ago but I have no idea what it is made from. I guess that it must be pulp? I am using it up as I practice and have managed to complete a few paintings not too shabby! I feel really inspired with this tutorial, so honest and down to Earth. Thank you once again Paul.
My pleasure and yes, I'm sure it's pulp - but not to be wasted!!!
Вітаю з Новим Роком!(ukr ) Happy New Year Paul! Best wishes from Ukraine!
And to you over in Ukraine ... stay safe!
@@ArtbyPaulClark Thank you for your support!
I discovered Daler Rowney do an inexpensive 100% cotton paper - Langton Prestige - it's not bad at all. I recently bought some of 'that' German brand (that I can never remember how to spell haha), but specifically the 'Collection' range, and I love it. Lovely paintings, thank you.
Thanks - yes, I've tried Langton and it's good stuff!
I love using Baohong 100% cotton paper from China. It works super well but the rough paper is too rough. The Baohong hot press paper is fantastic.😃
Thanks for the tip!
Happy New Year, Paul! Wishing you 2024 filled with love, joy and endless possibilities.
Thanks so much! - same to you!
Daily dose of meditation has been taken! ✨🌀
Thank you Mr. Clark and happy new year!🎄

Gorgeous as always Paul🤩. When you said you had used other papers for the first few years, which ones did you use (especially the 4 paintings you showed us)
Mostly Bockingford but also some W&N and Langton

Glad it was helpful!
As always Paul, a fabulous demonstration. Thank you so much for your tutorials, they really are fantastic. Happy New Year.

Thank you, very helpful! Happy New Year!
Same to you! - thanks!
Love the little happy dance! ❤🕺🏼😂 You are a joy to watch! Both paintings are amazing. You make it look so easy. I’ve found that I like Arches much more than Canson XL but I started with Canson. Sometimes I use very cheap paper to do mixed media. I put layers of gesso, modeling paste, acrylic too. So technically not using it for watercolor paper.
Now I’m off to see what the video is that you mentioned at the end. Happy new year to you and Margot. Thank you for all the beautiful paintings and videos. Praying for a very successful 2024! 🙏🏻❤️

@@adelabadova3105 hello dear Adela!! 👋🏻❤️🐢❤️🙏🏻🥰⭐️😘
I use 300lb paper because I watercolor like the garden hose is on;) Arches Rough is my favorite, but I do use Academy when I'm noodling around. Thank you for the comparison video and for teaching me something. Your channel makes watercolor painting so approachable. I look forward to meeting you in 2025 on one of your trips.
Fabulous!!! - thanks so much and it would be great to meet you!
A very Happy New Year to you, too, Paul! Your tutorials have helped me improve over the years. It's always a pleasure watching you creating something beautiful. Thank you and all the best!
Thanks ... and same to you!
HAPPY NEW YEAR to you and Margot!! I truly appreciate the lesson today - the types of paper and what you can possibly expect from them. Bonus - paintings as well!! Good stuff to know! To be honest, I mostly follow your suggestions for paper and try them out. I mostly have Arches cold press green label pads, but have recently purchased, Arches Rough Block orange label, in a larger size. I have painted on Strathmore watercolor cards and like that for the small paintings. Thank you again and look forward to 2024!! :0)
My Pleasure Janell - Thanks for sharing info and a Happy New Year to you too!
Oh 'eck, I was really glad to see you and then......oh Happy New Year by the way.......flippinig boats, there's a curse on me! I started off with beautiful pro W&N tube paints, all the right colours mixed up and went with a block of Meeden rough 100% cotton, not the best probably but reasonably priced. What's my first cock up, go on guess?........I draw in an horizon line with a ruler and there's a great gob of burnt umber on the the underside of it!!! So, first thing I have to try and reduce impact of the Cadbury coloured blob from nigh on the middle of the picture. I hadn't even wet it and I'm messing up:) So eventually, off I go, wet it all over (it does buckle by the way so not brill even on a block), cad yellow and orange, gorgeous vibrant wash, then some texture with a bit more cad orange and while still wet I'm in with the Alizarin/French ultramarine. Well zut a flipping lors! I now have a display of chrysanthemem fireworks flooded across the page!:) If I'd been striving for it I'd never have achieved it! Because I wanted a calm soft purply blur, I get pyrotechnics! It's flaming (literallly) drying now - by the time I finish this it will be like the Battle of Waterloo....good to have you back!:)
Ahhh, brilliant .... you make me laugh Karen! - especially as I've done the 'blob of paint on the ruler trick!' ... sounds like you are having fun, which is the important thing!
😂 Very funny! Thank you for sharing!!! A California Gramma ❤
I keep laughing at myself Gramma, it's the only sane thing to do! Love from the UK😄@@annenglish2935

Same to you ... thanks so much!
Happy New Year! I have decent $ cotton paper but now I want to try Bockingford. 🤣
It's good stuff and very affordable!
@@ArtbyPaulClarknot available as rough 250lb in the USA. 😢
Paul, there is a good quality 100% cotton watercolour paper from Baohong. It is made in China and it is very inexpensive. There is an Academy and Artist grade but there isn't much difference between the two. The Academy is less expensive. It comes in blocks, pads and single sheets. A wood pulp paper that I discovered is Arteza 32 sheet paper. I have never seen that intense granulation of paint on that paper. The texture feels like cotton paper and works quite well. One paper that I would stay away from is the Canson XL paper. When I was a beginner to watercolour painting many RUclips channels would suggest using that paper. I was very frustrated as the watercolour techniques never looked or acted like the tutorial example. I do not know why they suggest beginners use the poorest quality paper, paints and brushes and expect you to love painting with watercolour. It just sets you up for frustration and failure.
Thank you for these lovely paintings. I really like the galleon. I use Arches paper, Saunders Waterford and Hannemuhle.
Happy New Year!
Thank you! You too!
Both lovely, Paul! Especially that stunning sunset/ship! Gorgeous! Thanks you for paper recommendations. Love Arches, Fabriano, and also Fluid 100 and Stonehenge -both 100% cotton. Want to try the Saunders and Bockingford too. One favorite sketchbooks is by Tumuarta- 25% cotton and 140# and very nice! Cheers 😊
Thanks for sharing info!
I have been waiting to paint a galleon? since I started painting! Finally! Thank you Paul and happy New Year 🥳
Great to hear, have fun Tim!
I love Arches and have recently taken to Baohong.
Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for another great lesson, Paul! Happy New Year 🎉
My pleasure! Same to you - thanks!
Winsor and Newton Cotman (white/grey cover) was my favourite cellulose paper and I trieed a lot of them. Now the new Cotman is nothing like previous one 😢 Glad I did some shopping before was discontinued.
Now I wouldn't recommend.
Красивый,познавательный урок! Спасибо,Пол!
Thanks so much!
A little bit late, but happy new year to you Paul, I hope you are well again. I am quite a beginner with watercolor. First I used Canson XL pulp paper for my first attemps, but I am not so happy with it, and I gave the rest of the block to a Kindergarten. With cotton paper I feel better. I use Fabriano artistico, which I can get here in Germany quite cheap if I buy a 5 sheet package. Also I use Hahnemühle expression and Centenaire cotton paper the home brand from Gerstäcker, which is a great art shop here in Germany and in other europaen countries as well. These cotton papers are all cheaper than Arches or Saunders Waterford. Bockingford is hardly available here in Germany and if, it is so expensive as cotton paper. I also have a 25 cotton paper from Fabriano.
I sometimes use khadi (cotton) paper.
It's good stuff!
paul. bit late but i have recently tried a chinese paper BAOHONG artists 100% cotton. when i am "working" i do occasional pets and people as commissions so i am very fussy about materials i use. i have always used aches not and occasionally rough and schminke horodam. but i have found the BAOHONG paper as good as Arches and the not has a surface very similar to the arches which i thought was quite unique in my opinion. plus its about 2/3 the price. its a 2 week wait for it to arrive but that is worth it for me.
