Thankyou for yet another helpful video. Its only 12 months since I started painting at age 79 years old. It took me all these years to work up the courage helped by your advice. I finally took the plunge to help one of my grandaughters who was suffering from a very long and severe (over 6 months) case of long Covid. She had become so depressed. But with your videos we started painting together and it made a big difference to her outlook. So thanks once again.👍
I loved your answer about your favorite part of teaching painting. I am a retired 3rd grade teacher & my favorite part of teaching was also that squeal of delight & joy when they realized that they actually got the concept I was teaching them. What a joy it was to hear their little voices rise & to see those sweet smiles. I miss it.
I love watching you every week and if you could hear me laugh and see how much I smile.... I am always so excited to watch, learn and watch again to paint along. Thank you so much
The drawing demonstration is very useful, and the advice about the big shape first. Thank you very much Paul and love your early artwork and Margot’s little studio too.❤❤
Great video - great tips! It was also nice seeing some of your 1990's paintings. You are a fantastic teacher and artist with the added bonus of your positive and inspirational spirit. Thanks!
You are so very generous with your knowledge. Your earlier work is just wonderful. You have a great understanding of the watercolour materials and techniques, and your drawing method using pentimento is great. Thank you for all you do.
One of your viewers asked about drawing an object. I used to try drawing on the decent water colouring paper and spoiled many times with erasing. Now I practise any drawing several times on drawing paper. Surprising how much decent watercolour paper you save as well as practising your drawing.
If I had to share my art space with my husband, it would be tripping over golf clubs, tennis rackets etc. Terrifying thought. I really like the Q and A.Thank you.
Thank you, Paul. These were some valuable bits of information. Incidentally, I tried your tutorial of the Scottish Loch. Of course it did not come out like yours, but it was so much fun painting and I’ve decided it’s not that bad & I may even hang it up on the wall. Thank you again for sharing your expertise ❤️
Thank you Paul - very much enjoyed this video and appreciate the demonstrations and tips you provided! Will definitely incorporate them into my drawing and painting practice. Very much appreciate these Q&A videos! Enjoy your day
Wonderful time with you... Margot too!!! 😂 I appreciated the shout out for Liz Chaderton & her book Watercolor on Canvas ... reviewed it with Kindle and bought it! I bought a few stacks of 8 x 8 canvas (a while back), so this will help a painting day with my granddaughters 🎉❤😊!!! You make me laugh!!! God bless you and Margot from a California Gramma ❤️
Hello, the beginner I am is following you avidly, I particularly appreciated this Q&A, the frankness of your answers, as well as that to the question of Kathy. Thank you
I always love watercolor Wednesday. Thank you for taking your time to answer questions. It certainly helps! I enjoy your sassy comments and smiled through put the video! Margot put her brush in your beer😂😂😂
Invaluable advice and demonstrations. Thank you, Paul. Your early paintings are gorgeous. I especially liked the ‘industrial’ scene. But they were all lovely. 😊
Thanks again. I very much remember your last one where you said that you started with 3 colors and advised us to do the same. Best advice ever. The night takeaway from, today’s is to start every painting as though it’s a practice, and to paint the painting as a whole. Thanks again
Thank you so much for that last suggestion “This one is just for practice and just for fun, and that is often when you get your best.” I have found this truth in my own experience and will apply it much more often as this has proved to be my best work!
Good afternoon, dear Paul! Any tutorial you wouldn't create is made with taste, a lot of useful information, with sense of humor, and respect for your followers. Thank you again! Greetings from Moldova, Lilia
I would be delighted if my paintings resembled anything like your early works Paul! Your enthusiasm is inspiring and thank you for this session, very helpful 👌
thrilled to hear about settingsand being able to change speeds. the fish is so beautiful, really loved all of answers. They are all exremely helpful. Many thanks
Thank you for your vidéos. I am not english fluent but with all your advices i was abble to increase my painting level in less than a year. Amazing. So thank you so much from France.
Marvellous! Wow , your earlier works are impressive. This was such a worthwhile video. Nice little reminders too. I appreciate your comments on pricing our work. I often find this difficult and especially if I have a painting I feel good about. I was once told to charge two and half times the framing price. Only as a guide. Love this. Thanks Paul.
Thank you once again for been so helpful. Your lessons inspire me to keep on painting. I enjoy every moment sitting creating new and old ideas and improving with plenty of practice. 🥰
Thanks Paul. Always entertaining & helpful. I decided to try for a third time to learn watercolour. This time (and with the help of your videos) I feel I am getting there & more importantly, I’m enjoying it 👍
I've been following you since I started this new hobby of watercolor painting. It's not quite a year yet, but I've learned so much from you. I tend to paint more detailed but when I need to loosen up... I visit Paul from across the pond. 😊 I have actually been commissioned 4 times now. Some of my favorited paintings had been inspired by some of yours such as the fox and robin, the old rusty car and the tractor scene as well. ❤Thank you so much for sharing your gift with us all !❤ Theresa from Ohio.
Hi Paul! Thank you for your lovely channel. I have a suggestion for your next Q&A. Perhaps a segment on techniques for how to fix mistakes. For example, is there a right/wrong way to lift paint (when trying to fix a mistake as opposed to creating a highlight) and then painting over top?
Dankjewel! Prachtig!
Thanks again Paul and Margo! I went on a trip and saw many great paintings and actually became discouraged! But then I watched your video again and you have inspired me yet again! I may never build/paint a masterpiece but I can have fun trying! 😊
What a delightful and instructive video! Thank you very much Paul for sharing your joy and expertise. I always learn so much. And your sense of humor along with Margot’s make your videos such fun as well.
you always add such fun to your videos. my question: since you paint so many paintings, what do you do with them? do you have your own gallery, or show in one, or wallpaper your home with them? and yes, more Q&As would be good, some day. and thanks for showing us your early work!
I’ve only just discovered your videos and really appreciate your presentations and most helpful advice. You’ve acquired a new fan from Melbourne, Australia. Many thanks Paul
Thank you so much for your advice and videos. What I like is that you do not force your opinions on us, but advise us to do our own thing.( although your opinions are invaluable! )😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thanks for this, I love all your videos. Yes, I would like to see more Q&A videos, and the most immediately useful tip for me was probably that half speed videos would give me the right impression.

Some people might be fantastic artists but no good at teaching, some might be mediocre artist but super teachers, in your case both qualities and an ability to entertain and make learning fun come together. Thanks so much!
That was great! Loved your humble answers I like it that you care so very much for the people who are trusting you to teach them watercolor. I am still painting and loving it.
Thank so much for another Q & A, Paul! I’d like to weigh in on the question of how much to charge. I don’t typically sell originals but sometimes I’m asked to. Hi. Paul Thank you for sharing the Q & A. Its great and very helpful. 👍
Glad it was helpful!
I didn’t know the way I start a drawing is called pentimento. This Q&A with demo was so useful. Thank you!
You're so welcome! thanks!
What a great video! Your early works are wonderful, the fish is fabulous as are all the other tips. Some people might be fantastic artists but no good at teaching, some might be mediocre artist but super teachers, in your case both qualities and an ability to entertain and make learning fun come together. Thanks so much!
So nice of you - thanks so much!!!
Thank you Paul, a very informative and enjoyable Q&A session, I definitely learned a lot today 😊
Great to hear!
That was great! Loved your humble answers
I like it that you care so very much for the people who are trusting you to teach them watercolor. I am still painting and loving it.
Thank you so much!
Thank you Paul….l am learning a lot with Q&A
Glad to hear it! thanks!
You are a delight to spend time with. Thank you
My pleasure 😊 thanks!
Thank so much for another Q & A, Paul! I’d like to weigh in on the question of how much to charge. I don’t typically sell originals but sometimes I’m asked to. If I know it’s a painting I’m happy to sell, I always say something like, “Thank you for the tremendous compliment of that question! Let me look at my inventory sheet and get back to you tomorrow about the pricing.” That gives me time to really consider with the pressure of an immediate answer. I often go to a local shop that sells originals on a par with what I’m offering (for example, framed/unframed, mounted/unmounted, with/without a mat, etc.) and use what’s there as a guide. This may not work for everyone, but it’s a method that allows me to feel comfortable about what I charge, even if the potential buyer ends up saying no to the sell.
Some good advice there - thanks for sharing!
