I ran this race once in college (posted a 9m 11s) and told my coach never, never again lol.. I admire those who run and torture themselves but it was - race not for me..

Those barriers are 36 inches high. You try to jump them before you take the piss

This event (3000 meter steeplechase) contributes the most injuries than any other T&F event. Most collegiate athletes are not trained properly to run this event. It's a "sideshow". I competed in this event and broke my elbow and wrist. One well known athlete with whom I competed was injured and could not compete in the US Olympic team Trials due to a foot injury. Think more than twice before competing in this event. The University I attended rescinded my athletic scholarship. They saw my crooked arm and disinvested in me. There is no loyalty in Div 1 athletics. You are replaceable the moment you get badly injured.

@@xelp435 Thank you... The fall and broken arm changed the entire direction of my life and impacted me for 13 years..Athletes... just be warned... in
this day and age of NIL..... Distance Track Athletes are likely to receive NILL if they get hurt. and a bad injury such as mine was reason enough for my DIV1 University to rescind my scholarship at the end of my Junior (3rd) year.
