    They’re driving a keep grand Cherokee which is proof positive they’re not playing with a full deck😅

    If there is noise it’s most likely the bearing races. As far as the RTV. Yes some have gaskets. But vast majority of diff covers, oil pans, front covers and so on. Are all RTV seal from the factory. RTV doesn’t always mean a shit repair anymore. I would say they over torqued the bolts and squeezed all the sealer out.

    If you change your differential fluid its also a good idea to replace axle seals and possibly the bearings as well. I replaced my axle gear oil and pumpkin seal and headed out west. But in mid South Dakota the axle seals went and gear oil seeped into my back brakes and ruined them. All of that can be avoided by spending the extra time and money replacing the seals and bearings if they feel slightly wobbly. Hope this😊 saves you some extra time and money in the long run.
