    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  3 месяца назад +1

      The big STI 6 piston brakes easily clear my Volk CE28 wheels that are 18x9+35. There is lots of space between the caliper and wheel spokes, more than 1/2 inch. I also have a set of GR STI BBS wheels from a 2013 STI, those are 18x8.5 +55. Those require a Perrin 3mm front space to clear the Brembo Calipers, the rears fit with tons of space to spare. Good question and have fun working on your VB.

  • @cartuned6036
    @cartuned6036 8 месяцев назад +1

    Looks great! I’m sure they function even better. Question, with your wheel setup of +35, and the paragon rotor pushing out the wheel +7.25mm more, how does your offset appear? To my understanding you’d be at a +31.5 offset now. Trying to get a flush look with no poke.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  8 месяцев назад +1

      The Paragon rotors do not push the wheels out +7.25mm. They are the same offset as the factory rotors. Its the 2 piece rotor top hat that changes where the disc itself sits. This is a direct bolt on set up with stock fitment. So don't worry there is no poke out of the wheel, its a nice flush fitment.

    You did an amazing job filming all this! Thank you for making it so detailed and its absolutely beautiful because my car is WRB too and I would have chosen the neon green myself. Only thing I think you missed was the torque spec for the 6 piston brake caliper itself. What spec is it spose'd to be? Also, I think I asked you this on Instagram but can you try and fit the OEM wheels with these? I know you had the 17" for the Base, but I have the Limited with 18" and I'm wondering if it's enough clearance. The VOLK wheels are the win, love that color on the car, it really makes the brakes pop whereas the gold are very very distracting.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  Год назад +1

      I totally forgot about test fitting the stock 17 inch wheels for you. I sold the stock wheels about a month ago. The 17's definitely would not fit with out a spacer and I don't think they would have enough clearance to fit around the 6 piston calipers. I think your 18's would fit with a spacer and maybe longer studs. If your going to spend the money for this type of brake system, you should get yourself a nice set of wheels as well. As far as the torque spec, I read on line that it was over 100 ft lb. That seamed to me like a good way to strip the aluminum threads in the calipers and from what I read that was a misprint for the torque spec on the internet. I went with 60 ft lbs on mine. I didn't want to say because I don't want anyone blaming me for them stripping out their calipers by over torqueing . I like the Volk wheels as well. I think I am going to sell my STI wheels and get myself some 18 with a +38 offset and make those my daily set. So glad to hear you enjoy the detail I put into this. Definitely was a lot of unanswered questions with upgrading the VB to STI brakes that needed to be answered for the community. Thanks for your support and for watching my videos. My wheels are 18x9+35. The BBS STI wheels are 18x8.5+55, but those will need a 3mm spacer to fit. I would imagine most 18+ wheels would work with a +38 offset.

    What is the torque specs for the front? Im finding 80 to 88.5 ft/pounds

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  Год назад

      I was finding lots of things online that said 100+ ft lbs. Those torque settings seemed like a good way to strip out the calipers aluminum threading. Personally I torqued my to 60 ft lbs and put some medium hugh temp Loctite on the caliper bolts. I didn't want to share the info because I could not find a specific recommended torque from Subaru and didn't want anyone to damage their calipers from over torqueing and blame me. Just installed the rear brakes a few days ago. The VB feels so good now. That video will be coming mid week. Thanks for watching and have fun with your car.

    annoying that you can't just option this brake upgrade on a lower trim WRX today.

      I agree with you on that. I would love to see Subaru offer a STI brakes sports package on any trim of WRX. Was a little hard to figure everything out, but it was well worth the effort. My car feels amazing with the STI BBK.

      @@JDMRightHandDrive I've always read that lowering springs destroy ur stock suspension and ride quality becomes worse. Are those exaggerations? In a perfect world we all get coils but they're pretty pricey. Also how much does the lowering springs labor+parts cost? Thanks a lot!

    Damn. Nice rotors. The car should have come with at least 13-13.5" rotors. The OEM pads have already destroyed the rotors.

      The Paragon Rotors are 340mm or 13.3 inches. Stock Brembo pads are not very aggressive on the rotors compared to track pads. Both front and rear rotors are working and looking perfect to me.

      Yeah the Paragon rotors are a direct bolt on to the VB WRX with STI calipers. No mods are required and no rotor spacers. I have a full parts list with links in the description for everything I used in the video. Thanks for watching.

      Hey Rick thanks for the help, but I am keeping the STI golds. Going to take the Michelin PS4S tires off my Skyline Nismo wheels and run them on the BBS golds on WRX with a Perrin 3mm spacer. That will be a good set of daily driver wheels with some tires that will last a while. Thanks for watching.

    • @JDMRightHandDrive
      @JDMRightHandDrive  Год назад

      Sorry that you had a bad experience with them. I send Rotora an email inquiring about brake lines for my set up. They called me within 30 minutes and made me a set of lines, which I received 2 days later. Personally my experience was good with them. I was thankful to finally hear back from a company. I spent several weeks reaching out to various companies asking for information in which brake lines would fit and all I got was crickets. This was one of the biggest hold ups for me completing this project sooner, so I was very happy Rotora provided me with the information and parts I needed to finish my install. Thanks for watching and thanks for your support.

      @@JDMRightHandDrive They sold me a pair of rotors that cracked all the way from the hat to the edge in multiple places around the rotor in a few short weeks. They made every attempt at blaming me, and even tired to get me to pay to ship them back! This back and forth lasted weeks if I remember correctly. Finally I gave up and told them I would keep driving on them, and they can answer for themselves in court when they come apart and cause an accident. Suddenly they were interested in sending me replacements... guess what? Did exactly the same thing. Worst company I've ever dealt with.
      What a waste of $350. I've never been able to crack another rotor...... but yeah you're right Rotora, it's my fault 🤣
