Hmmm...don't recall Subaru ever using any lime/green, etc back in the 90's. My kid is named Colin - after McRae - and I followed WRC closely and am a model builder and have reward winning scale models. Never seen them. Unless it was a privateer running an ex-Prodrive car. Same with cherry blossom. Never seen calipers painted that color. Not by Subaru or by Brembo. I know, I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but while the ricer movement seems to have settled way down it just won't die. A quick example...I'm part of the BL/BP era Legacy/Outback community. As time has gone by, two trends set in. The Legacy people pursued full JDM front and rear end conversions becase it is a huge improvement. And the Outback folks (me) went for subtle lowering. Some people think it's stupid but there is big purpose - stems from Subaru ceasing GT wagon production - and so long as you don't have the SUV two-tone paint scheme, those fender flares make the Outbacks look like widebody Legacy's. I'm biased, but my black Outback with STI wheels, STI grill (from a BM/BR generation - shouldn't fit but I made it happen) subtle OEM chrome rocker strips and JDM rear tailgate and lights and it looks like a Japanese Audi RS4. My 2011 STI pushing 600/600 hp/tq. has subtle exterior and interior changes. Interior has Recaros and went for S206 look. Exterior had chipped paint and a couple small cracks in the bumper covers from the previous owner, so I replaced those and the rocker panels...looks new and engine has 24,000 miles. Both cars are for sale right now, as of tomorrow. Teenagers will walk away. But adults will be my "target". I'll be shocked if someone younger than 30 buys the Outback. Anyway - can we just make one final push to kill the ricer crap? I know, in the community people don't believe they're part of this. But they didn't think anything was wrong in the past, either. I'm totally for Brembos on my 2022 GT coming in August. It's how I found this. But if I get them? Silver or black, with a Brembo decal. It's not an STI, or a Cadillac, and Subaru's always had "Brembo" on their gold calipers for a long, long time. Just more subtle/cool...not necessarily "sleeper" either...just think of Subaru's JDM/Asian-Pacific/Australian looks.
Definitely STi logos on the calipers and definitely keep the STi center caps if you'll be sticking to that wheel. It'll be like a nice slap to the face to Subaru.
I'm confused why you didn't use the 4 pot 06/07 wrx fixed caliper or the gold 4 pot brembo's? The 4 pot 06/07 wrx fixed calipers are really good and you can pick them up brand new for $500 for the front pair. Those 4 pot 06/07 calipers bolt up to most subarus with no adapters or modifications, including my 5 gen impreza. So for $800 with pads, you have really good brakes. Rears are a bit more complicated, but also, maybe another $300 for the calipers and the cost of an adapter.
We’ll eventually want to machine a spacer with a hub centric lip big enough to center the wheel; that being said the lugnuts are self-centering so as long as they’re torqued properly, everything should center just fine!
If yoiu guys used the mounting kit from BWC Fabrications, it doesn't require drilling knuckles at all. Just have to knock out the grommet inserts on the caliper and reuse your stock bolts. That way you don't have to worry about ruining a knuckle if you stink at drilling knuckles.

Hey guys, I know this car has a limited potential and not much a help on your marketing. But, what can u guys recommend for a Subaru forester xt 2017 CVT to maximize the power? Really like ur cars , builds , and contents but I hope you could help me figuring out what products can u offer to help increase power of my car :) TIA
Thank you for the love Louis! Since you've got the XT there is some good potential to make more power through bolt-on parts, however the CVT will be your limitation. First thing's first, I would find a shop/tuner in your area and chat with them, they can come up with a parts list in order to get to the power goal you have in mind.
For an STI swap, you would still need spacers for the rotors but it can be done. We just wanted to do something different, and show a route that might be more cost effective and easy to pull off to most people.
Would love to watch the entire video but the background noise is absolutely driving me crazy not sure if it's an air horn or grinding but I can't do it sorry
When it comes to the knuckles it looks like they are the same as the 15 - 21 WRX so previous Gen STI parts should work. even if it was the 08-17 STI Brembos
We used the STI version for our big brake setup, with lots of customizations to make it work. I am not sure how the slotted FF setup would pair with a 22 WRX. Id check with them to confirm fitment.
Just my 2 cents being in the automotive aftermarket industry. This video is like something you would find on NASIOC, not a company who is trying to market a big brake kit manufactured by an aftermarket brake company that tailors their product to a platform. Now if you were to get Stoptech, AP Racing, TBM, etc. to do a build series of what goes into the process of developing a big brake kit upgrade and then the install process. I think that would be way more conducive and carry more regard to the fact new platform, new brake system it needs to be engineered to fit the new platform.
You’re partly right, however if should be stated that we’re not trying to market this big brake kit, rather just showing owners of the new platforms some DIY options that they have for upgrading the brakes. We’re sure that those aforementioned brands will be posting videos of their own actively marketing production BBKs that they’ve created in house and we can’t wait to see those. Think of this video as interesting content, rather than product creation media.

Any concerns with brake bias/proportioning with this mod?
We haven't hooked everything up to test yet, however, given that this caliper combination is so close to what came on the 15-17 STI with a very similarly sized master cylinder, we aren't expecting to have any issues
Will you guys be providing spacers that accommodate STi brembos as well? Figure they would need to be smaller.
As it sits right now, we’re not planning on doing a production conversion kit or spacers for Brembos, this is just a one-off for the shop car!
Yes! please give us more info on this kit and set up ! Like comment share and subscribe! Thank y’all!!! 🙏🏼
I do have a parts list for the parts we used to make this happen on our 2022. As of right now we are still deciding if we want to step into the braking/suspension market, so no hard release date on any brake parts from us yet.
Parts List Used for this Kit:

172-2777 - Cadillac ATS Front Driver Side Brembo Caliper
PowerStop L3781 2015-17 STI Rear Passenger Side Caliper

Brembo P09004 Brake Pads (front)
Brembo P56048N Brake Pads (rear)
FactionFab FFA1.10041.1-G - Front 05-17 STI Rotors

FactionFab FFA1.10091.1 - Front Stainless Brake Lines - 08+ WRX
FactionFab FFA1.10093.1 - Rear Stainless Brake Lines - 08+ WRX
Could you just use the 19+ STI caliper bracket?
We’re not sure if it’s a fully direct mount, but you could. We decided to go the ATS route just to explore what other options people will have.
Where could I be able to get those rear sti brembos?
We sourced those straight from RockAuto
@@GrimmSpeed would they be as safe and same performance as oem brembos?
any companies working on rotors that dont require spacers?
Not that we know of, since this was a custom setup it's be hard to measure the demand for something like that.
After a brembo brake kit we need an STi 6-Speed swap kit.
👀 we’ll add it to the list.
Links for parts?
@@GrimmSpeed Ok thnx Imma send an email ASAP :)
The car needs the gold bbs sti wheels. Why can't you go to a junkyard to get the sti swap?
For an STI swap, you would still need spacers for the rotors but it can be done. We just wanted to do something different, and show a route that might be more cost effective and easy to pull off to most people.
Would love to watch the entire video but the background noise is absolutely driving me crazy not sure if it's an air horn or grinding but I can't do it sorry
Totally understand. It's our welding team welding up intercoolers. Can't get a way from it in our current shop layout. We are working on it though!
When it comes to the knuckles it looks like they are the same as the 15 - 21 WRX so previous Gen STI parts should work. even if it was the 08-17 STI Brembos
They are similar. We went this route to show a more cost effective option.
Would the stock calipers work with the FF rotors?
We used the STI version for our big brake setup, with lots of customizations to make it work. I am not sure how the slotted FF setup would pair with a 22 WRX. Id check with them to confirm fitment.
Why ya gotta film when someone’s engraving in the shop haha brrrrrrreeeeeee
Our welders are always buzzing away in the shop. Very little down time.
@@GrimmSpeed I understand just givin ya shit, keep on keeping on love what you do!
Think of this video as interesting content, rather than product creation media.
wait theres no 22 STI coming out....???
You must have missed the memo.
Yeah no. Allegedly the next sti we see will be electric base on what I’ve seen
Are you going to design a kit of brakes so we can fit 15" rally wheels? 🤔
Hmm, we HAVE had a lot of people asking about that!
@@GrimmSpeed So are you planning to get one before next winter 🤔 I need to buy my winter wheels 😉
@@benlegare81 It's a bit hard to tell if it's something we'd do since there are SO many other projects down the pipeline. I wouldn't wait up if you're looking to pick up wheels in the next few months!
@@GrimmSpeed Use the 06/07 WRX 4 pot fixed calipers. They bolt up to most subarus with no issues and they are super cheap and really good.
Why has nobody mentioned that the width is now 24mm total wider in the front than the back? This is like a reverse stagger and potentially destructive with an AWD car.
Good question. We did space the rear accordingly.
Too much audio feedback or buzz in the background... over all good swap!
Our welders are always buzzing away. We are working on getting a dedicated marketing space so we can improve the audio quality of our videos.
What's up with all the honking?
Its a tig welder lol!
Deadass it was so annoying LOL but great video
Apologies on that, we're working on minimizing welding noise in subsequent vids!!
Not what I was expecting, didn't know that's what TIG sounds like over a mic. Thanks for the update. Waiting patiently for my reservation date for the 22 wrx sport.
The hell is all the background noise, feels like someone drilling into my skull while I watch, it's pretty grimm.
Thats a tig welder. Youre not much of a shop guy are you?
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Haha, apologies on that, we had to film during a big batch of intercooler production and aluminum welding can get pretty loud. We're working to minimize it for future videos!
Fucking grinder noise on and off in the background
Great video but what in the fuck is that noise in the background ?
Welding. Constant welding.
@@GrimmSpeed ohhh okay fair enough 😅
So Cadillac brakes are really the cheapest …? Lol that’s so weird.
For a big brake setup. Yes! Cost effective.
that noise....
Awesome! It’s a shame the idiots at Subaru didn’t build their car properly from the beginning!
That's alright, we're here to make it all better 😋
Down vote for terrible music!!
