  • We can all appreciate the incredible strength and perseverance of athletes during their careers. What is often not talked about enough is the journey after sports. How do we handle what comes after a major change? Just keep showing up. Janine is from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. She is the creator of the T.I.G.E.R. method, a breast cancer survivor, the founder of iNSiDE Out STUDiO Barre, a former National Women’s Hockey League and NCAA Division 1 Ice Hockey player, an inspirational speaker and writer, and a mother of three. Janine is a lover of all things tiger-related and chocolate. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Wow!!! We never cease to learn from you Janine. I too became a much more determined person when I took part in your classes at Inside Out Barre Studio. You have a natural gift to make us take care of ourselves, and not only physically. Listening to your Ted Talk confirms that. So much more food for thought. Yet again, I must thank you for always reminding me that I've got this. ☺

Janine! I just had to share how deeply your video resonated with me. That notion of "life's true currency lies in showing up"? It hit me right in the feels! It's all about going after our dreams, taking care of ourselves, and spreading kindness like confetti. I've personally experienced the incredible power of self-discovery and self-love, even when I felt totally lost.⁣

Your video reminded me that it's totally okay to take a breather, to disappear for a bit, and trust that transformation is happening within. Healing is an inside job! And that fire within us, that athlete spirit fueled by determination and resilience? It's always there, reminding us of our potential.⁣

Thank you, thank you, thank you for sharing your wisdom, vulnerability, and personal experiences. You've reignited my sense of purpose, inspiring me to keep healing, loving myself, and showing up for ME. Your message will continue to resonate as I tackle life's challenges and chase my passions like a boss.⁣

Sending you all the love and gratitude, Janine!⁣

    Ade 💚

Janine, one of THE best things I have ever done for myself was spending time in your studio on Wellington. It started my day on such a positive note thanks to you and the staff with whom you worked. I was there over 300 times and miss it terribly. Thank you for these words to live by, it makes a difference.

Thank you for sharing that. That's why we called the studio INSIDE OUT. We truly believe transformation is an inside job. We were the lucky ones to have the most amazing guests and team come through our doors, that chose us to start and end their days. For that I am forever grateful. Thank you so much.

Janine , I stumbled upon this video right after watching your latest chat on CTV. The timing couldn't be more perfect! I can't even begin to describe how much this video resonates with me. You are SO inspiring and it’s reassuring to know that there's something greater at work, guiding us on our journey.

You defo took loads of risks after that golden advice of your mum. What a journey! Hat off for going through all the surgeries and keeping that fighter in you. May your next chapter in your life be smooth, joyful and wonder-full!
