Great vid as I have just been introduced to RC plane flying having come from helicopters. Flew a Wot4 and have been looking at both these models as a first time flyer. Thanks for the review.
These are the sort of plane you can fly as a beginner and then do a bit of 3D and experimental stuff later on...... The Wot4 is the twitchier of the two and seems to be my all weather go to plane. I thought the riot felt sturdier in flight but its down to price and availability and what you fancy now. The only thing I don't like on the riot was the two piece undercarriage. I good one piece carbon fibre one would be the best upgrade as heavy landings may rip them off
Nice one, Jon - now I know where your flying field is! Hope you and yours are well, it's nice to be flying again (Wot 4 and Astro Hogg [1979 build!] this morning)! Den, Llangyfelach
Best Beginner Plane: Hobbyzone aeroscout 1.1m RTF It's fantastic because it has 3 modes no1 Stabilized. Totally level, very easy to fly for beginners. no2 intermediate.. limited banking angle so cannot roll the plane upside down. no3 advanced.. Rolls, loops aerobatics.. This has been the best beginner plane but can be difficult to find as is so popular.. I still enjoy flying this plane because it grows with your abilities as a pilot 👍✈️
Could not see clearly enough so maybe you could answer this for me, is the wing on the riot more of a lifting aerofoil than that of the wot 4? Cheers great video.
I don’t own the riot but yes it has a thicker chord than wot4. I remember it feeling firm and predictable in the air and my wot4 was a little more agile. The riot scores more towards the trainer rather than aerobatic.
I got a riot. I’ve only ever flown 4 times and I now fly without any buddy, just my instructor stood next to me. It takes off and lands amazing. Like our mate says, anyone can land it. A licence soon 🤞
If you go on the BMFA web page you can download the stock of questions. Always think Health & Safety Risk assess the flying site......, wind, sun and surrounding hazards (people, buildings and trees) Safety check your model and equipment......it all works as it should & no damage Plan......where you are going to fly and what you are going to do etc Communication.......Be aware and communicate with everybody and don't assume. Always announce your intentions....eg....Taking off, Landing, dead stick, low pass etc
@@kuntibolox Was it in Dinas near Porth. I know it well, one of my friends fathers was an instructor there. I am pretty sure it has closed and moved locations.
Anyone who was wondering. A-Test passed with flying colours. Moving now to bigger and better airplanes. Mainly my Dynam Hawker Hurricane. Which i absolutely definitely didnt crash by stupidly not checking ailerons. Honest!! - Adam
If you watched the video all the way to the end it states that you passed......lol Fast forwarding too fast........ did I tell the story of the Old Bull & Young Bull standing on a hill.....lol
I agree with you 100%. However, for a beginners second plane I would push them towards the riot as it was really stable and easy to fly. The Wot4 was a better allrounder for more experienced pilots.
Thank you, as a beginner this really help me choose which aircraft to start with

Passing your A is exciting
Team Wooly Sheep Reviews. Already reading the test questions on the BMFA website. It makes interesting reading. (Well...most of it 🤣)

Beautiful flying field where is that located
Llantrisant Common. In Rhondda Cynon Taff, South Wales, Uk. It’s about 1/2 a mile from the Royal Mint.
@@TWSreviews I did my Mines Rescue Training in Cynon Taff.

@@TWSreviews Yes it was Porth next to the river. I was there about 9 years ago staying at the local hotel, I did 3 courses with the Fire Service.
Great video as always. Regards Simon

Team Wooly Sheep Reviews you havent, yet aha. And i did notice that right after i wrote the comment
Will a transmitter and reciever from a WOT4 work in a Max Thrust Riot?
I guess they would as they are both a 4ch conventional setup
Excellent video!
No points for anyone who can guess what radio I use!

What was the elastic band for on the Hawk?
He is worried that the canopy will come off....lol
@@TWSreviews Haha I see. Well has that ever happened as I have the FMS Hawk and yet to maiden her.
@@jayrermars8493 if you saw the state of his battery and wires you would put two bands on....lol

Wot4 is a far better model. I have flown both and the Riot needs work to get it upto the level of the Wot4.
