Hey Nate. Nice to see someone flying an old Tactic besides me. They are getting hard to find these days. I had to get mine used off eBay for $130 w/2 receivers. I think tower discontinued them. I'm going open tx on my next one. I don't mind spectrum, but man dig deep, they aren't cheap. For flying foamies and inexpensive planes Tactic is great.
I could see putting in a little bigger motor and upgraded electronics so it can really wake it up.But that's just how I think.Thanks for the review.The added lights makes it possible to fly at night as long as you remember which light is which.I think it has lots of potential.
This plane is sold as the Max Thrust Riot here in the UK. It is a great trainer plane, docile, predictable and stable. Many of us have used it to pass our first test to enable solo flying. Easy to take off land without flaps, wind or no wind.. As it is good for acrobatics too, a great go to plane if you have not been flying for a while. You can also buy a balsa version.
Here in the U.K. it’s sold as the Max Thrust Riot, it’s massively popular as a trainer and general weekend hacks for has been now for several years. I have the low winged version, the Ruckus. It’s just as good and could almost be used as a trainer if the student felt confident enough. I do fly my Ruckus on 4 cells though. I’ve made no changes to any of the electronics or prop. To be honest 4 cells really wakes it up. It’s not silly quick or even super responsive but it is smooth and predicable. I honestly cannot disagree with anything you’ve said in your review, the Riot and the Ruckus are brilliant weekend flyers or throw it in the car, low fuss models. Highly recommended.
The one thing I do miss is the sound of the nitro engines from when I was first learning to build and fly. We had to clean them off when done with windex and paper towels. Now it's a no fuss no mess hobby. Amazing. That's a sweet flyer especially for aerobatic training. Super Stable but very nimble as well. Nice job again!

I learnt to fly on one of these planes in the UK absolutely love it fly on 4s with it now .the only bad thing is the landing gear screws are a bit small and weak if you come in a bit heavy .
It`s a well known make in UK, good plane but no riot, good points it fits in car with wings on. first try on 4s lost spinner & prop as soon as I powered up, reluctant to try again. lol
It looks like a nock-off of the FMS V2 SuprEZ. No gyro, and no need for any. Mine was a first plane, and Remains a favourite. Besides the decals, the biggest differences I could see is the battery hatch, and I think the ESC in the FMS is 30amp. Knife-edge flying with a slow high wing trainer! Nice going, Nate.
This is a superb plane, very well balanced and learner friendly. My first and still my favourite. I just want to install my candy dropper on the bottom
I believe this was first an Art Tech design once called the "Devil 500" and renamed "Riot 500". This model design has been out there since 2005. TopRC Hobby did have the "Thunder Pro" which I think was the low winged version of the Riot last year but sadly, It has been discontinued. Try the FMS Super Easy V4 both are similar in design.
TopRC makes nice planes. I have the EDF Swift, and the prop version tested really well too. The Swift had extremely dense EPO foam too, like pound nails dense. I dont think I'd choose this over the Bigfoot, which is cheaper and ships from USA inside a week for free. I'd but bigger tires on it for grass ops. Looks like a nice plane, but I think there are much better options if thats the style of model you want. You have to consider that E-Flite will supply the gyro/receiver in anything they sell, Arrows has a gyro option, even OMP Hobby Bighorn is a 1000% better plane for nearly the same price.
Shipping to Arizona is $112! I rechecked twice and it didn't change. Edit: finally found two other shipping options, one of which was free but will probably take two or three months to get here.

I have the same plane marketed under the name "Airbatix" It was my first electric and my first plane after a 10 year break from the hobby. I basically relearned how to fly with it and it has been great, however I got a little bored with 3s and started flying it with 4s. Crazy power and almost unlimeted vertical but it died on me after probably 30 flights. The motor just jitters and quits after a few seconds. Time to dig it up and put new electrics in it.
I like this plane a lot I definitely think a 40amp ESC would handle a 4S battery The motor is what I'd be worried about like you said Nate I think the motor will be ok long as ya don't hold it wide open for a long amount of time Nice flight Nate This could be a great plane to do the 3min inverted flight 😁 Great job as always Abby 🔥👍✌️
The Riot is very popular here in the UK as a trainer plane. Here it's sold by Max-Thrust and many other places in the world it's called the DEVIL. It's a great trainer but the undercarriage is a bit bendy! Everyone complains about the little rat cage for the battery. I have a Riot and there are probably 10 of them at my RC Club. Thery go really well with the Timber wheels fitted! Great flyers for not much money!
"The RC Airplane You Should Have Bought" -- I don't get it. It may be good, but as a beginner, why would anyone buy this plane for $221.99 without a transmitter or SAFE when you could buy an Aeroscout with both a transmitter and SAFE from Horizon Hobby for $8 more? And why would an expert ever buy a 4-channel plane? And I think I'd trust Horizon Hobby's customer support a lot more than Banggood's.
I bought a Hookll Cessna 182 V2 kit on BangGood - some pieces were not included in the kit or wrong ones. Banggood refused to refund me or send me the link to those parts to buy. I will never ever buy anything Bangood again!

So to make the review process better than great some stats or info re the plame, like you gave the wing span but not wheel size, battery compartment size, all up weight, wing profile eg flat bottom or semi semetrical, prop size etc.

To me that plane looks like the FMS Super EZ V4 and if I'm correct the RTF version with floats cost the same price as this plane Same wing size as EZ definitely looks close. Add a reflex gyro for $30 and your good to go........

With shipping it's over $300. I'm not paying that much for a plane from Banggood. I haven't had good luck with the quality from them. Horizon has good planes in that price range with the receiver included but thanks for the video.

Really considering trying 4S but I flew this two more times off camera on 3S and I am so impressed with it! I honestly wish I had those last two flights recorded!! Love this plane!
I dig it. I've bought other planes you guys suggested but I've learned I am not a plane guy so much. I kind of suck at them. I am huge into drones and rc trucks. I love you two though no matter what you are showing. You keep me totally into RC stuff. Both my wife and I run trail rigs much because of you two!
Heh, this isn't a new model by the way. I bought one around 5 years ago. It was called Max Thrust Riot, same exact colour scheme, a reasonable price and, it flew just like the plane I'd been practising with in a flight sim!!!!!! I WAS SO PLEASED WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Both are really great options! This flies a lot more sporty than the Valiant. Abby would want the Valiant over this any day of the week. I would want both 😉👍😎⚓

My problem is loong ago I wanted to fly jets and they made me(my trainer at the park) fly planes to learn to fly jets. I simply got bored of the slow trainer planes and quit. I then saw your video on the f15 and it has been nothing but jets for me ever since. Planes do offer more speed and tricks. I just like jets ONLY!

got the superEZ battery goes in from the top - no need to keep turning it upside down to put a battery in..

When assembling your new aircraft models, do you measure the control surfaces for dual rates, or do you just set one rate of movement?
Put an amp meter on it with 3 and 4s. With an 880KV I think you could do 4s.
Agreed. See how much the 3s is pulling in amps first. Might already be pulling 30a

Really considering trying 4S but I flew this two more times off camera on 3S and I am so impressed with it! I honestly wish I had those last two flights recorded!! Love this plane!
I dig it. I've bought other planes you guys suggested but I've learned I am not a plane guy so much. I kind of suck at them. I am huge into drones and rc trucks. I love you two though no matter what you are showing. You keep me totally into RC stuff. Both my wife and I run trail rigs much because of you two!

Heh, this isn't a new model by the way. I bought one around 5 years ago. It was called Max Thrust Riot, same exact colour scheme, a reasonable price and, it flew just like the plane I'd been practising with in a flight sim!!!!!! I WAS SO PLEASED WITH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

But why would you get this over something like the Valiant?
Both are really great options! This flies a lot more sporty than the Valiant. Abby would want the Valiant over this any day of the week. I would want both 😉👍😎⚓

My problem is loong ago I wanted to fly jets and they made me(my trainer at the park) fly planes to learn to fly jets. I simply got bored of the slow trainer planes and quit. I then saw your video on the f15 and it has been nothing but jets for me ever since. Planes do offer more speed and tricks. I just like jets ONLY!
