loved the gender neutrality of him saying "person" instead of boy, it was obviously on purpose and is one of the things that show how much thought was actually put into his poem
I was so ready to tell him that he doesn't own his daughter's body half way through and then he said all the right things and I was like oops, forgive me, good sir, would you like another daughter?
Damn... I loved it from the beginning, but was a little unsure about the telling her not to wear short shorts and sleep with a lot of people. But he completely turned it around into something beautiful. Absolutely love this one, will be listening again
I loved that he took it the total opposite direction I though the poem was gonna go into. The soft, mushy, everything will be perfect poem about having a girl and took it into a more reality based place.
Yup. In the L & G communities you can find characters called Daddy's. We do not dominate the "daughter" sexually in fact, if sexual feelings develop we end the relationship (cause they are grown now and we are not pedorape fetishists). We dominate girls, but in a protective and/or mentoring way not a sexual one.
omg im in tears. this was so beautiful and he would make an amazing father. i love how he mentioned slut shaming and that he wants her to be able to own her own body. i love how he said "person" instead of assuming his daughter would be with a male. i love that he said he would wear short shorts if she wore them, that he would take her wherever she wanted to go, that they would "wear inside jokes so big on our faces that you could live forever on them." this was truly amazing. i wish my father was like him.
Whewwww, at first I caught myself thinking... this might be his most boring one yet... and then BAM, he switched it up and brought it home. Goosebumps and all. Thank you for that last part. I wish I had heard a man say something that genuine to me as a young woman!
This poem always brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of all the good times and also the bad. It makes me want this relationship with my daughter one day. It makes me wish that I could be the daughter thats name is on that envelop.
My dad will be gone 3 years tomorrow God I miss him. This was beautifully sweet and I feel like I'm hearing from my own dad cuz this is a lot of his humor.. Ha...
I'm watching this in December of 2020 and the line "wants you to know what it's like to live life as if humans were made to jump out of airplanes without parachutes" still hits me so hard
I've listened to this since the moment my child was born, and now anytime I hear it all I can think about is my child growing up. I'm very grateful for this.
Andddd Everything after baby girl daddy wants you to love your own body right the way till the end. The words he’s used and the voice modulation, on point 💯
I subscribed to this channel to be able to keep up with a few artists that have spoke to me with every word they write, and Javon is one of them. His poems are always so passionate and strong, and this is another example of how much of an inspiration he is.
"You both should know that your dad spent a few days in jail so I'm comfortable with all kinds of weird shit!" My fav

"Your friends will say, "Um, your dad's a bit psycho.
And you will say, "Yeah he is, but it's the best way to be loved."

Loved that he said "Person" instead of boy .!
I know!! I noticed that, too!

I read it and he said
Same I love that
Sara SkM Ik I love how open minded he is not to just assume that his future daughter will be straight.
loved the gender neutrality of him saying "person" instead of boy, it was obviously on purpose and is one of the things that show how much thought was actually put into his poem
J Robinson great observation
@@EricCKeys yeah actually. how utterly fascinating and accurate. well done
I was so ready to tell him that he doesn't own his daughter's body half way through and then he said all the right things and I was like oops, forgive me, good sir, would you like another daughter?
Ways to tell someone not to judge, subtly. He probably did this on purpose
Wow. He's gonna be a great dad. No shit there.
Who ever his future daughter is they are so lucky
ThatRandomChick Yes!!!
ThatRandomChick i knows right
Damn... I loved it from the beginning, but was a little unsure about the telling her not to wear short shorts and sleep with a lot of people. But he completely turned it around into something beautiful. Absolutely love this one, will be listening again
patronsaint YES! Love the turn it took!
I felt the same exact way! But he made it so beautiful.
I loved that he took it the total opposite direction I though the poem was gonna go into. The soft, mushy, everything will be perfect poem about having a girl and took it into a more reality based place.
Can you like...is it possible to adopt a parent?
Jasmine Eke No you don't. It sucks.

Allison B yes, this is a father you wish to have :)

This poem did two things for me:
1) Made me fall even more wildly in love with Javon Johnson
2) Made me miss my own dad
Dayelle Waugh yea.. and pray for the child.
The power of the tongue is phenomenal.

I both cried and laughed at this poem, really good job!

scalene triangle but you have one, cherish him.

@@thetongueofangels1882 sometimes its hard to cherish people as much as you love them or want to love them.
i can tell he'll be a great dad
Javon Johnson! You need to do a national tour called Truuuuuth!!!
He should, I second this!
I want this to happen!

I've been binge watching poetry for the last 20 mins and this is the first one that made me tear up
I've been going strong for 4 hours
Be as loud as the day you were first fucking born!! AWESOME.
that was actually adorable
"I cannot wait to sing the first song to you"
This is beautiful :)
He’s having a daughter in August 2020. I love this full circle. 😭
Every time I click on one of Javon's pieces, I just KNOW I'm gonna cry.
He should do stand up. Giving jokes and getting laughter all while dropping knowledge.
I LOVE HIM I LOVE HIM I LOVE YOU, JAVON!!!
I LOVE JAVON OBAI F FKNFOF HES GONNA BE A GREAT PARENT LIKE HOLY SHIT PARENT GOALS
Javon is honestly my favorite poet on this channel.
His daughter is going to be so lucky!!!!! Ugh I'm so jealous!!! Man I wish I had that in my life.
Wow... I think more dads need to think like this man is thinking
I'm crying? He's an amazing parent? Wtf why wasn't I so blessed?
I sent this to my dad, and he loved it!
This poem always brings tears to my eyes. It reminds me of all the good times and also the bad. It makes me want this relationship with my daughter one day. It makes me wish that I could be the daughter thats name is on that envelop.
HIS VOICE IS SO POWERFUL.
Clicked on this video trying to safe my phone from falling...definitely not disappointed. This was beautiful.
"Learn how to scream "No." and mean it. Be as loud as the day you were born and fucking mean it" YES!!!
My dad will be gone 3 years tomorrow God I miss him. This was beautifully sweet and I feel like I'm hearing from my own dad cuz this is a lot of his humor.. Ha...
This makes me feel two things.
1- sad that I don’t have a dad like this.
2- happy that someone else will 💛
“babygirl, daddy, ...”✨
This is legit the sweetest poem ever..I wish my Dad showed me he loved me like this. Whoever his daughter is she's gonna be super lucky to have him. 💞
When you wish your dad came back from getting the milk so he could be as good as this fine gentleman right here.
Oh wow I'm crying so much.
I flashed back to my childhood and my dad..
I love the way he says “baby girl!” like I can’t explain it.
So powerful. If only every woman were to have this man as a father.
This is why I can not stand people telling me their dads are too overprotective. I want nothing in the world as much as I want to be loved like that
I love how he said "I will wrap my arm around this person" Person. Meaning that he doesn't care if that person happens to be a girl..
a dad like this please
i'm jealous of his unborn daughter and on the same time I want him my unborn daughter's father
we need more men like him in this world
I cried not only because it was beautiful bc I wish my dad was like this..💔
oh my god this made me so happy.
Javon Johnson, my absolute hero!!!
That took a welcome turn.
Thumbs up for Javon..truly an amazing poet !
I hope one day my babies daddy will be that passionate about our children!!
This is quite possible the best sentiment I have ever heard a father have about his daughter
Seriously this was so wonderful. God I was so worried but then all that worry washed away. Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful
Reminds me of the daddy I lost too soon. Powerful words from a powerful heart all for who is obviously going to be a powerful young woman one day.
This is honestly so much talent, humour and realistic things about societal norms, performed amzingly
I'm watching this in December of 2020 and the line "wants you to know what it's like to live life as if humans were made to jump out of airplanes without parachutes" still hits me so hard

Wow. Thank you so much for posting Ryan. What a huge compliment.
I laughed, cried, laughed and then smiled. Ending with a deep breath of relief and for a moment I believed he was talking to me. wonderful.
When a poem makes me cry, not tear up, but flat out full out cry, it's some good shit. Props.
this has remained my favorite poem ever to date.
I love Javon Johnson so much. What an amazing, beautiful poem.
This is the kind of Dad I wish I had
I think I'm in love, his poetry took the air out of my lungs, eyes glued to the screen, almost forgot to breathe, the ending was perfection.
Strong voice with sweet lyric: this is Javon.
People that disliked this vid are the ones that listened up till 2:07 and didnt let him finish
Brilliant. That is the kind of love a father is supposed to have for his daughter.
This is pure unadulturated gold!
this is now my fav poem
There are so few things greater than a man who truly loves his child ❤
i wish i had a parent like this. so accepting and caring.
Javon is my favourite poet by far.
