Great video. I’ll always remember working, servicing, and flying these aircraft.
I've been on many of these MD-80 and MD-88. I was always worried about having the engines NOT being on the wing, but loved my flying days anyway. Never an issue. Thank you, MD!!!!
I remember my last flight on a Caravelle as if it was yesterday. Thanks for filming this
Greetings from an old man in YVR.
Congratulations and thanks for sharing.
My last flight on a Maddog was on Allegiant about 5 years ago.
First flight was on a PSA SUPER 80 as it was initially called back in early 80s.
Excellent video! I'm jealous. My last Mad Dog flight was January 2019 ATL-OMA. Gonna miss those!
Awesome. I had a lot of great flights with the MD-80, it will be missed.
These MADDOGS beat the 737 Classic in terms of lifespan. I heard that Douglas made their airframes more thick and rigid compared to Boeing, so that's why airlines were always able to keep em in service for a very long time. Too bad the MD90 just didn't work out economically...and well.. technically, if so, it'd still be in service. A piece of history disappearing.... :(
wow i remembered my md-88 flight from atl-bwi 10 years ago. even though i've traveled internationally, it was a special vacation to remember.
Awesome tripreport man, unfortunately never got a chance to fly on these...
All of you younger generation have no idea the glory of seeing the airports full of the MD88, DC9, B737-200, B727-200, the 747-200 and -300. Those were the days.
Yes, those were the days, I worked for Delta from 1977-2011 and worked many of those aircrafts. I miss those days and miss those aircrafts.
@@brianjanson8433 So did I I was there from 81-2019, and my favourite airplane to work on was the L1011.
@@deltaboy767 The L1011. That was an incredible airplane.
@@harrythomas8868 Yes it was.
watching again 1 year later!!! thanks for sharing the mad dog!!!
Great video. I've was bitten by the flying bug and aviation has been a passion of mine since I was a little kid. The first time I ever flew, it was on a Delta MD-88. This airplane has a soft spot for me. Wouldn't think it'd be emotional seeing an airplane retired, but this truly was emotional. Great airplane and sad to see it go.
Great video.... Work horse is an understatement for the mad dogs. Most would have 5-10 takeoffs/landings a day. Sad to see them go but Delta definitely got it's money's worth. When demand rebounds I have no doubt the A220 will be the new workhorse. The 717s are nice but they will never be as good as the MD 88/90. Again great video guys.
Here's another interesting fact for you Aviation geek I can remember flying Pan American AKA Pan Am and TWA back in the day who remembers Pan Am and TWA like my comment.
I go back far enough that I traveled on a TWA Lockheed Constellation.
dad: Why are u crying so dam loud lol
Always flew on these out of Portland, Maine to ATL, either the 88 or 90. Will miss them.
Fantastic trip report, wish I was back there! I was in 23A for that flight.
Nice Elevators in the beginning!! It's got EPCO WN fixtures!!
nice video mate! man i am going to miss the maddogs, i might as well *book a flight* on a Delta and Hawaiian 717 before they are gone
I did this exact flight this morning on my flight simulator. It’s really cool seeing this video and how it’s essentially exactly the same as how I flew it. I love the MD-80!
Nice! I love the MD-80 too, too bad there aren't anymore in the US now.
Coke Cans And Winglets World Atlantic still flies -82s and -83s as charters in the US
I remember about a year ago a World Atlantic MD-80 flew right over my house into Minneapolis, and I remember I was so excited cause an MD-80 hasn’t been to Minneapolis in so long and I saw it clear as day. I’m not sure if they’re going out of business now or what.
Too bad I never got the chance. Farewell to Maddog. And thanks a bunch for sharing this, I can live the experience even though I wasn't able to do it in person.
Great video, wish I had been on that flight ✈️😃
I can't believe they didn't give you full reverse thrust for the final flight, that's a shame otherwise great video.
I have tears in my eyes : (
So the question is, what aircraft will fly the route now? I hate to see original McDonnell Douglass jets taken out of the fleets. No more flying pencils 😭
It does suck, the 717 will be replacing the Mad Dog on this route
I was on DAL742, pretty cool! Got to do the ramp tour, as well!
Well there goes the maddog the plane iv always wanted to see but never going to now 😞
Great video, it was great meeting you!
Thanks Zach, had a great time with y’all, would gladly do this again!
The end of an era
Were you allowed to keep the safety card i remember AA allowed that on their last MD flight.
Yep!
Flew both often in my military days.
Great video! Thanks for posting! I was on one of the last MD-80 flights on AA last year. Might want to tell your friend with white hat that you wear the mask over your mouth and nose to protect against Covid-19. Just saying.
2 years ago today!!!
Do you know if the plane sold yet and if it did what airline bought it and how much it would sell for
Rest in peace
Nice coverage of the flight! Didn’t know your channel before, new sub from me 😄
Thanks, glad you enjoyed!
I was on DL2375, the flight before yours.
Hello Coke Cans And Winglets....greeting from miftahjaya96 channel, you have a great video
I just can't believe that ill never hear the sound of the maddog
Glad I had a chance to fly on it multiple times!
if 2020 couldn't get eny worse
They should have built new ones what's up with that
fly to omaha sometime please
wait so are the going to retire the MD-90 too?
Last MD-90 landed an hour before us
Window or aisle seat on one side.
Was there anyone on this flight who wasn't an avgeek? Someone who just happened to be on the flight by chance? If so it must have been pretty weird for them.
I think there was like 5 people who had no clue what was going on and booked that flight not knowing it was a special hahaha
I never saw a maddog in my life 😥
Back in my days planes were diverse....Now it's sadly a bore

May you rest in peace in the bone yard.
dirty finger into an eye. smart
A very antiquated plane...... thank god it's gone.
Hey Alex. Thank God you’re gone out of our lives, because we had so much fun flying in real life, instead of some iPad game
Thank GOD it's gone! I've spent to much time in front and in back of the Super DC9!!
