Arcade Punch-Out!! (Switch; Original Mode) - High Score [1,385,020 points]

- Done on the "Arcade Archives" port of the arcade Punch Out released on Nintendo Switch. This port actually appears to be based off of the Japanese romset, which has different voice samples than the US version, as well as faster counts whenever anyone gets knocked down, and a few differences on a couple of fighters themselves.
This is just a standard run through Original Mode, which gives you no restrictions while playing through the game. You technically have the ability to save with this mode, but I played it straight up in one go as if it were "Hi Score Mode" where it disables saving and pausing.
I also show off the online leaderboard at the end, where this score is currently first place. I probably won't upload any more runs for this leaderboard since it has save functionality, so you'll see uploads for "Hi Score Mode" instead. Also Caravan Mode will be next!

I think Zallard and the ref are working together. Zallard is beating them as fast as possible so the ref can go home faster and the ref counts lighting fast to also go faster and so the opponent has almost no change of coming back up.

@@Naminski1a He's supposed to fight you twice, with the second time being after you beat Bald Bull during the second loop, but for some reason you fight Glass Joe a second time in the same loop. I have no idea why they did that.

@@elmagisterconstabail9994 Your guess is as good as mine. It could be the perception of stereotyping, since it feels stronger with those two than most of the others, but I am by no means certain on that. I do know that another opponent in Arm Wrestling is removed after the first loop, for potentially the same reason, but again I am not certain about that being the reason. It's the only conclusion I'm drawing right now that makes much sense.
@@ThunderFist1978 Yeah, it makes sense, although it's kind of sad. I mean, at a certain point I was speeding up the video just to see if they ever came back to fight, and instead there was just an infinite chain of fights against the same four boxers

Unlike the original Super Punch out arcade, on the original Punch Out arcade there is no TKO. I was surprised when I played it that Bald Bull actually got up 3 times. It's rare, but they can get up 3 times.
Why was there no TD pizza pasta or kid quick?

A second fight with Pizza Pasta was in the original arcade game, but it was replaced with the fight with Glass Joe at 7:54

Bummer you only get to fight Pizza Pasta once in this/the Japanese edition. Good thing I have the North American version on both my Mame machine, and modded 2TB original Xbox console. That despite even if it's still nice that anyone can both freely, and legally play this (and Super Punch-Out!!) for the arcade at home now though.
Punch out classic opponents as Glass joe, Piston hurricane, Bald bull, Kid quick, Pizza pasta and Mister sandman.
Just subtract pizza and kid quick I guess

Any idea why they messed with the order of the opponents after the first loop? I always thought for the second loop it was Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, Pizza Pasta, and Mr. Sandman, but they took out Pizza Pasta and put in Glass Joe for a second time in the same loop. Then after that I thought it was Glass Joe, Piston Hurricane, Bald Bull, and then Mr. Sandman ad infinitum. Any idea why Pizza Pasta is removed from the second loop? Is it going by the Japanese rom or something like some of the other Arcade Archives games do?
UPDATE: I see now that I understood the third and subsequent loops incorrectly the order you fight them in the Switch release is the same as the arcade. The only difference seems to be that Pizza Pasta is replaced the second time through with Glass Joe, which makes no sense since you already fought him at the beginning of the loop.
Pizza pasta isnt in any of the loops after the 2nd on all romsets, from my knowledge
NintenGunner He isn’t, but he is supposed to be in the second loop after Bald Bull and instead you fight Glass Joe again even though you already fought him at the beginning of the loop. It makes no sense to fight the same character twice in the same loop.

The ref's count in this game reminds me of the ref's speedy count when Busta knocked Tyson down...if you watch the fight again you can see that it was all fixed..when Tyson knocked Busta down you can literally count to 20 the way the ref counted

It's interesting that there is no TKO in the first Punch Out arcade game. They on rare occasions can get up after 3 knock downs.
@@Smartguy561 Well to be fair, the TKO three knockdown rule isn't always enforced, depending on where you are boxing. It's just one of the better known rules.

Punch out arcade is unused characters in Gabby jay, Piston hondo and Narcis prince.
Gabby is Glass Joe and Piston honda is the reincarnation of Piston Hurricane and Narcis has not been thinked about and only appeared in SNES SPO
Sir teach me your ways, whenever I attempt to fight piston hurricane the second time I can't counter the hurricane rush, he just punches right through me. What am I doing wrong?
The window is a bit tighter in loops 2 and beyond, so your timing has to be more precise. Also, the timing of your punch will depend on what punch you throw at him. Like, if you throw a KO punch, the timing is far different from if you were to throw a jab or a body blow.

Easier way to beating Bald Bull is by using more body blows. When he moves his gloves up and down… instead of trying to dodge punch him in the stomach with a body blow… you can get many punches off and he rarely counter punches back. Also on the Bull Charge you can still hit him but it’s very delayed vs the first time you fight him. Bald Bull and Sandman are generally easiest for me with Piston being most difficult because of the different timings of his charge.

I’m sorry, but the muffled noise when the KO Meter fills up? “Mlah mlah mlah” instead of “Put him away!” or “Knock him out!” Inexcusable. I’m not endorsing this re-release in any way.
That's fair. For what it's worth, this is exactly how the original release of the game was... in Japan.
They used the Japanese romset for all Switch releases in all regions for some odd reason; possibly for consistency with the leaderboards.

Naminski its because the aspect ratio of the two screens dont fit in 16:9 without being stretched, which would look terrible.
Dual-screen in one widescreen format. It's like in CinemaScope.

You can't save in this game normally. If you play in "Classic Mode" you can select "Create Interrupt Save Data" from the pause menu to make a save state of sorts, but that's about it.
