What a fantastic game - it really highlights how even when things look really dire for one player, they can swing around so rapidly! Even right in the last round it could have swung massively.
Nice batrep - worth noting that in the dragon/tomb guard/white lion/dragon combat when you issue a challenge Adrian can choose who accepts so it didn't have to be the dragon. He could have taken it with the tombguard allowing the dragon to potentially munch more whitelions
At the end of the game, the Necrosphinx is definitely a Behemoth so his 4 Stomps were really AP2. Not that it mattered in this case, but don't forget that unless you are stomping a Monster or a Behemoth, Thunderstomp applies!
That scribe conversion on the Tomb King is... wow. Hope this continues, please don't be disheartened if views are a bit low, because It was rad. BTW 1st magic spell, 13 automatic hits + the partials...that seems a lot. Sure that was correct?
One thing to note that I have seen pretty much everybody doing that is still causing some confusion is the terminology around Break Tests. When Combat Resolution is calculated this value is ADDED to the 2D6 roll made on the Break Test. Combat Resolution does not actually "reduce" the Leadership of the Unit, and checking if a unit Falls Back In Good Order doesn't actually check against the "unmodified" Leadership. I say this causes confusion because there are things that actually do MODIFY Leadership - Terror, some spells. These effects do change the point at which a unit Breaks and Flees rather than Falling Back In Good Order (so it's not actually "unmodified Leadership"). Along that line if the combat result is kept as ADDING to the roll there is far less confusion around determining if a Unit Gives Ground, Falls Back In Good Order, or Breaks and Flees: roll the 2d6, ADD the net Combat Resolution score to the roll, check against the Leadership of the Unit (modified by anything currently modifying Leadership). Along the same lines correcting the terminology around Following Up (after a Unit Gives Ground) and Pursuing (after a Unit Flees or Falls Back In Good Order) wiill make things cleaner since Following Up doesn't count as a Charge and a new Combat, while Pursuing DOES count as a Charge and a new Combat. I've seen a lot of repeated questions in various places that would be cleaned up by consistently using the correct terminology.
Note to GW rules writers: look how much more dynamic the game is when everyone and their mum isn’t rerolling every dice roll! Dice actually matter again ! TTT great to see Brian back and which such passion for my favourite game system will old world be covered mainstream going forward? 😊
Absolutely, this is something Gdubs doesn't seem to understand for wh40k. Tbh 10th is still better than 9th edition, but Old World looks more fun in terms of dice decides
@@peters6345 exactly! Just look at how this game went down! Damage wasn't over the top or insane, Adrian and Brian both threw everything and the kitchen sink at each other and even by turn 5 they were still going! If you stopped pulling punches In 40k or AOS you'd be done turn 2! And it would be so one sided you'd know who will win from the lists alone...
Another big change: movement. There are more moving options. Im surprised no one has picked up on the flexibility of Open formation (free turn at the end of movement means you can triple march and have your formation in the right direction). Yes Brian, thats what makes White Lions extremely good.
Great Batrep guys, well done. Love seeing third party figures being used. I had to watch this batrep due to the Tomb Kings and High Elves being my two main armies.
What an amazing game. The armies look amazing. Always so impressed the detail y'all put into everything. So excited to see what the scoring looking like, really love the ideas.
@2:47:40 Subtle but important difference now, when a Charge Target does a Flee reaction and the Charging unit chooses to continue (Persue) they move the FULL CHARGE DISTANCE (Move plus roll). It's not just a Failed Charge. See page 129.
Really love the scribe conversion, so cool! Thanks for the old world content, I almost only wath Tow content now. The game is fun, no competitivness and balance dataslate every 3 months, it's a breath of fresh air compared to 40k.
I am working on TO docs for Old World at my shop. We are experimenting with more terrain than is "standard" in the book. Not 40k or even AoS dense, but not 4 pieces on the outer edges of the board either. Not having a big empty killing field in the whole center of the board is making things much more interesting. Loving the content and excited to see Beastmen!
Yes! What we have been waiting for, I haven't picked my 40k models up since the game released and I can't see it happening for a while now...just got my necrons sorted too 😂. Great game
Since you were talking about dark elves and legacy factions, I got the distinct impression that the "legacy" stuff was a last minute decision by an executive that had next to no involvement in the game development. The legacy PDFs are very fleshed out. It feels like all the work was already done and someone panicked that TOW might draw too many players from AoS. That's why the majority of the legacy factions are armies that are popular in AoS.
Such a fun battle and I can't wait to watch more from the other factions! The Necro-Sphinx doing basically nothing the whole game was painful. Also super weird that the magical constructs made with and animated by magic, of the TK don't have magical attacks. I'm so excited for the revamp of this game but also I'm glad I kept my fantasy army because of how insanely hard it is and is going to be for a long time, to get models. GW has a proven record of doing a terrible job at stocking product. All the mythological Egyptian creatures to pick from for a new leader mount.... GW picks a dragon which is not one of them....
11:05 you can't have both Shield of Saphery and Glittering Robe on the same unit. Both spells say "other Enchantment ... immediately expire". 45:30 If you had put the shield after fury on your lord the shield would have removed the fury. Doing the shield first and fury after (as you did) you can get both. (odd, i know...)
Imagine the archers charging the bone dragon in turn 6- They get into the flank, with a rank and close order for +3 CR. Brian needs to challenge with his prince on dragon to avoid the archers being easy targets for CR. Even though Brians dragon died, he did way more wounds in this combat round (also forgetting to roll d3 for the wound roll that was regened), and with the archers +3 CR the bone dragon would have crumpled as well. You need a plan for what you want to do with your mage in this edition. With walk between worlds he can make a unit super nasty to deal with, but he still needs some survivability, just so a single enemy character with a magic weapon doesnt kill him so easiliy. The Sun dragon by itself did nothing unfortunately- Smaller dragons can be ok, but not against bigger dragons. The S/T difference will be felt hard.
When you cast Fury and Shield on the Dragon on Turn 2, did you make sure the dragon was in the forward arc of your Archmage? From the top down view it looks like it could possibly have been out of arc.
Also your Dragon wouldn't have been able to turn 180, move half its movement, then turn 180 again to face the Sphynx. It's 1/4 movement per 90 degree turn. Edit: I forgot you can move backwards using half your movement.
hear hear Brian, grew up with this end eighties. Never left. Still got some old metal HE chariots, dragons, bolthrowers =, cavalry and even spearmen that look more like a kings guard then normal spearmen. My love for space orks came a decade later but also there the old metal orks (though these look kind of small in comparison with todays Orks).
Rooting for the Tomb kings always but think the High elves will win, Hitting first was always such a strong thing in fantasy and I doubt its changed in the Old world rules, So stoked to see this game return, I've bought a bunch of stuff but it will still be a long while before I can hit the tables for it myself
@2:47:06 I don't think the Reavers have Fire and Flee ir Feigned Flight. Being Fast Cavalry doesn’t automatically grant those rules anymore and I don't see them listed on their sheet. @3:11:28 I believ he had the Reavers in Skirmish formation and Skirmishers never Disrupt ranks, regardless of Unit Strength. Shots from the Catapult were not quite right. The crew BS is only subtracted when firing Indirectly and a Hit is rolled. The shot still Scatters in that case but minus the BS. In all other cases shot just Scatters the value on the Scatter die.
Very nice BR That Tombking Dragon tanked a lot this game. Even after the Armor was destroyed it took what? 70 or more Shots from Seaguard and Archers, multiple Boltthrower shots (all missed) three rounds of combat from an Ogerblade Highelf Prince and its Dragon. Even some Magic and catapult misfire to lose what, three wounds? Edit: Just did some math and yeah for the dragon to basically get one damage from archers it takes around 40 to 50 shots depending on 6es to wound and distance to the target.
I think that when the Dragon fled and ran 3D6 because of swiftstride, and the Bone Dragon only 2D6, it should have been 3D6 also as swiftstride is for charge, flee or pursuit. And it was only 1'' difference... it would have been caught.
I think at 2:03:30 the charge rules you got wrong. If charging multiple units into an enemy the charges should be simultaneous so that you can get both units in. I’m pretty sure
I have to say, you can buy the entire dark elf range. I dont know where you have the info that you can't get hydra, black guard, corsairs, executioners.. Everything is there in AoS. In the cities of sigmar range. So basically blaming GW without taking a proper research is not fair!
I like the challenge mechanic in general, but a normal unit champion able to hold the attention of a lord on a monster is just silly.. Behemoth characters should not be forced to accept challenges from non-characters :/
Brian is back and Old World content! Wuhoo! Even better Brian is commanding the elves, and some dragon v dragon action to boot! Lovely work guys
Awesome armies and conversions :) Thanks for the nice report !
At the end of the game, the Necrosphinx is definitely a Behemoth so his 4 Stomps were really AP2. Not that it mattered in this case, but don't forget that unless you are stomping a Monster or a Behemoth, Thunderstomp applies!
Glad to see the old world stuff, glad to see you together again.
Man, I love the rank&flank gameplay. So hyped about the old world 🙌
Very nice Battle Report! I cannot wait to see more Old World Battle Reports from you!
Those High Elves are BEAUTIFUL 🥺
Amazing game, more Old World please!
I dont catch many of your other game systems batreps, but I'd watch your old world. :)
Great models, great attitudes.
BRIAN! And Old World, wow feels back as well!
That scribe conversion on the Tomb King is... wow. Hope this continues, please don't be disheartened if views are a bit low, because It was rad.
BTW 1st magic spell, 13 automatic hits + the partials...that seems a lot. Sure that was correct?
Love love love the Old World, please keep them coming!
This was a phenomenal experience which I will watch/listen to on repeat. Tabletop Olde Worlde Titans is 👍
Brian, you're back. Rejoined!
So great to see the original duo on the table! 🎉
Thanks for doing this, I am OG TTT and happy to see Brian back and with WHFB!

Absolutely agree!

Great to see old world on the channel. Definitely hope you will do more. Battle was awesome!
Great Batrep guys, well done. Love seeing third party figures being used. I had to watch this batrep due to the Tomb Kings and High Elves being my two main armies.
Loved this game. Old world and the return of Brian perfect combo. Can't wait to see more.
I could not wait till the end to comment. This made me so happy. I love seeing the og crew. So hyped for old world. Thanks so much for everything.
Brian, your high elves conversions look great. Amazing work.
What an amazing game. The armies look amazing. Always so impressed the detail y'all put into everything. So excited to see what the scoring looking like, really love the ideas.
so happy you guys are playing this!! great to see
Brian is the old world ...so exciting to have him back. Looking well and just happy to be playing with his toys
Just discovered the channel, excited to watch more batt reps!
Super pumped to have fantasy back, glad you guys are posting some Old World batreps!
Love seeing the old world making a comeback!!
Absolutely gorgeous armies.. especially the Tomb Kings

Finally some real Warhammer on the channel ^^ looking forward to seeing more
Dang it; Old World looks so fun.
Sorry Wallet.
Great game guys!
Yes! What we have been waiting for, I haven't picked my 40k models up since the game released and I can't see it happening for a while now...just got my necrons sorted too 😂. Great game
Please post multiple Old World battle reports a week. Thank you.
I am digging the movement and charging rules, looks fun!
Old World is the best. Commenting for the World That Was and for the algorithm!
Commenting! Register this community engagement! I am communally engaged! WE LOVE OLD WORLD! Great game too, pleasure to watch. Will be tuned for more!
MORE OLD WORLD!!!! love to see you guys playing!
Watching this to learn ideas to help my buddys tomb king. Also to lean how my primary enemy plays. Long live the empire
Great game!! Fantasy Battles was my introduction to Warhammer and it was great to see it again!!!
Fantasy Battles is Warhammer.
Love these TOW videos! The production quality on this channel is top notch!
Much appreciated!
Those armies are soo cool, awesome stuff. Gw should redo the Old world armies with modern sculpts. I'd def get highelves
Since you were talking about dark elves and legacy factions, I got the distinct impression that the "legacy" stuff was a last minute decision by an executive that had next to no involvement in the game development. Such a fun battle and I can't wait to watch more from the other factions!

"Magnus did nothing wrong" has a whole different meaning now.
loving the old world content, keep it coming!
Thanks for the review, very great game.
I will never play old world but I loved to watch u guys play it. Great game.
Thanks Red!

Thanks for the tips!
sry I couldnt catch it live but I loved the battle report! Linda had a great first stream.
So awesome. Tomb kings is the army I'm most excited to play. I'm a necron player in 40k so tomb kings was a natural choice
When you cast Fury and Shield on the Dragon on Turn 2, did you make sure the dragon was in the forward arc of your Archmage? From the top down view it looks like it could possibly have been out of arc.

Also, you can try always a fated dispel once per turn, if you don't have a wizard in range.
I need more old world in my life. I was devastated when they killed off warhammer years ago and now that its back, i can't get enough.
Be honest titans...its a much better game than 10th ed 40k right?Long live Teclis (aka Brian)!!!!
Does anyone know what the mini in the thumbnail is? It's so cool
Thanks! It's a conversion from the scriptor mortis in age of sigmar!
More old world!

Ah yes, thanks for the heads up! Still learning the nuances
Fun to watch but number of rules mistakes all in favour of the high elves so glad the TKs still did the business!
Very nice BR

“My father was a witch hunter, my mother a sister of Sigmar… yes, it was a very grimdark adolescence!”
Love it - hope to see more games
this is unfair two of my favorite armies battling it out. Who should I root for. I can't make up my mind :D
More Old World content please!
Need more of these!
Love fantasy ❤ you guys do a great job with these
I think at 2:03:30 the charge rules you got wrong. If charging multiple units into an enemy the charges should be simultaneous so that you can get both units in. I’m pretty sure
you don't regenerate 1d6 + lvl, it's 1d3+ lvl
Would love to see some dwarf games
Bring on the Orcs and Boars!!
Old world - ok I come back on your channel
Very nice and clear, pals, but too long for this life. 😅
MOAR OLDE WORLDE PLEASE !!!
Did you guys even test for fear once this entire game?
Is Brian back to the channel 😮? 😊
Pls play more old war!!!:)
Old World!!!!
more old world!! ill sub lol
Dark riders!!!
not sure how the high elf player is casting these enchantments early on his dragon, looks like its out of the front arc of the caster ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
High Elf players do what they want, we're just here for the ride.
I have to say, you can buy the entire dark elf range. I dont know where you have the info that you can't get hydra, black guard, corsairs, executioners.. Everything is there in AoS. In the cities of sigmar range. So basically blaming GW without taking a proper research is not fair!
It's completely out of stock, and we can't seem to find much of it anywhere, unless you go to eBay.
So balanced but has a triple save. Eh? Wonder how people deal with the multi saves like that
Genial!
I like the challenge mechanic in general, but a normal unit champion able to hold the attention of a lord on a monster is just silly.. Behemoth characters should not be forced to accept challenges from non-characters :/
warhammer!!!!
❤
