Lyrics
Should you settle down in the Sunshine State
You should know of its tangled fate
How the conquistador came to Florida
Long before it had a name
The medicine man of the Seminole
Knelt by the sacred flame, and cursed the soul
Of the conquistador
And his son, and his sons, and the young ones...
Of the Florida Man
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man
Down at the mall, where the boas crawl
Ted makes love to a concrete wall
His brother Red said his Uncle Ned
Found Elvis in a loaf of bread
(Florida Man!)
High on meth there's little Beth
The neighbor's cat is on her breath (Florida Man!)
Dan dreams he's got red wings of fire
He's waking an' shaking on a power wire
Florida Man (Florida Man)
(He's cursed)
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man
Slim sees his face on a moonlit wave
He grabs a shovel, and digs his own grave (Florida Man!)
Lee hates plate glass, he drives right through it
Said Alice's caterpillar made him do it (Florida Man!)
A Miami nurse snatches a purse
And drives down the freeway in reverse (Florida Man!)
Phil asks the cops to test his drugs
After they find him hiding under a rug
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man (Florida Man)
(He's cursed)
Florida Man (Florida Man)
Florida Man
Don't you laugh, it could be you
The Florida curse always comes true
You can jeer but you don't understand
Any fragile soul can be a Florida Man Видеоклипы
Love how the opening riff has the first two notes of one of their most popular songs, Don't Fear the Reaper, but then jumps into something new. It both grabs your attention and puts you on the back foot, which is exactly how a song about Florida Man should start.
It’s brilliant song writing for an established band . Really smart . Great catch
For me, this song has a real "Harvest Moon" feel to it, both musically and lyrically - haunting riff with stories about cursed people in an area along America's East Coast where the Spaniards once tread.
I think the ink spots did that a lot too
It lures you in with a false sense of security, only to wildly subvert your expectations.
Just like a Florida Man
@@JohnHoulgate good catch. Harvest Moon is a phenomenal track that goes very under appreciated. Well, I guess that’s most of their songs.
This song has no business being this good.
I don't know what this means... and yet I totally agree.
It's Blue Öyster Cult, their songs can be as good as they want.
@@jagnestormskull3178 ^This...
damn, they've still got it.
The legend off florida man continues
And it always will
I am one of them, even if transplanted. 32+ years in this "gunshine state".
This is part 6's outro. Who wants to say otherwise?
Bro. Ocean man
?
@@StationaryGamingReal He’s talking about JoJo
If we ever see some alternate universe stone ocean in part 9 this song has to be a stand
Yes
Insane that they can still capture those modern mythical boogeymen stories into timeless rock tunes. This is what a band progressing without losing their identity sounds like. Also, it’s wild how varied the ages/demos of their fan base is. Very surprising in a good way.
An all-ages show at Tioga Downs racetrack in 2010, and from gramps on down to knee-high children rising as one to raise our fists in union and chant as a mighty chorus the responsorial
"GO-GO GODZILLA!"
Man, that was something!

"You can jeer, but you don't understand
Any fragile soul can be a Florida man"
this lyric is so damn deep, speaking as to the fragile nature of the human psycie, anyone can have a snap in their live that causes them to become a headline. don't laugh at others who were broken is the message of this
yeah, that ending made me fall in love with song. Its not a simple joke or meme about florida man, that ending serves as both a reflection and a warning on human nature. We all have the potential, given the right or the wrong circustances, to be the next "florida man" headline.
It means anyone can fall under the Florida curse
The best part is it's true. The "Florida man" thing is only known because here in Florida, criminal records are public info so journalists and news stations always look for the craziest stories; the truth is every state has Florida men like us, you just don't hear about them.
Blue Oyster Cult has a Timeless quality to them, I feel they will be loved and listen to well into the future
As a teenager who's favorite group is BÖC, I feel like this new album was made for me
Forreal I was so excited when I realized they’d dropped a new album. It was just the positive surprise I needed in mid-2020.
Lmfao get better taste
@@StoogesOfTheFuture Lmao if you found my comment doesn't that mean you're listening to them?
@@StoogesOfTheFuture lmfao get a better life
@@StoogesOfTheFuture you're playing csgo, that's a better punchline than anyone could come up with
"Any fragile soul can be a Florida man"
Good grief ...Blue Oyster Cult is great.
Waiting for some enterprising fan to create a killer animated video giving life to the vivid characters and scenes depicted in this song.
I need this in my life
*guy strolls through Walmart, finds a mirror, crushes up amphetamines on it, then this song starts playing on the Walmart loudspeakers*

You really can't just have a song that details a huge part of internet culture whilst at the same time having a wise theme and slapping this hard
A ballad of my homeland 🙂
Aye, ill drink to that
To me blue oyster cold is one of the most underrated bands that's ever existed just my opinion been a huge fan of these guys all my life
Pound for pound when you put all the cards on the table, my favorite, American lead guitarist bar none
These guys are my favorite band and love the newer tunes and Donalds guitars riffs are as cool as ever.
Florida isn't a state, it's a state of mind. One that should be treated with antipsychotics.
I wish they would've mentioned florida man who kidnapped a scientist to make his dog immortal
I just love the ending to this song. The mix of the kinda melancolic classic rock/metal mixed with the: "Any fragile soul can be a Florida Man" hits deep and hard after a song that has been mostly funnny in a dark humor way. These guys are truly amazing. Any song that can me think that hard about myself with just a single line after what should have been just a funny meme is a masterpiece.
This is my second favorite boc song....veterans of the psychic war is still my fav
Veterans of the psychic war is one of their most underrated songs. Its also one of my favs. That along with then came the last days of may.
@@toby2k75 Unknown Tongue is up there too in my opinion
@@lucasimmons075 it amazes me how long they have been around and yet they still dont get the props they deserve. Unknown Tongue is a good one as well they have many undiscovered gems people over look cause BOC wrote songs that were different but were incredible.
@@lucasimmons075 Fallen Angel is another great one too..
This song is so deep
Like all Blue Oyster Cult tunes
They are timeless
Florida man is now a viable stand name
Proud of being born in Miami, Florida
Listening to this for the 2nd time; Buck has always had a way with slower tempo rockers, his vocals have aged well, with a burnished, lived in, authenticity. Nobody in the genre plays such lyrical, melodic leads, with his trademark, nuanced touch, knowing how to make it sing and breathe. The backing vocals, lyrics and rhythmic foundation have a forward, yet classic BÖC vibe...
SUBMISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!
They are entirely unmarked by the passage of time thus far. If I didn't know better, I'd swear they'd simply been stored in hard, velvet-lined cases like guitars, and taken out from time to time to perform.
There’s been a noticeable change in Bloom’s voice, but Roeser sounds almost exactly like he did on the first album in 1972.
@@acetheta
Genetics & lifestyle aside, during his prime, Eric had one of the best rockin’ voices in the genre.
Don't fear the florida man
Damn that bass line is soo groovy
Whoever dislikes this song, is Florida Man!
Nah I’m Florida man and I LOVE this song.
I am the one, but I love the tune, not my life in this state.
The one dislike is florida woman for not getting mentioned in the song
First caught them live, June 28, '77...row 3, dead centre, floor. Lasers, fog machines, mirror balls...Utopia opened with their pyramid themed stage, using BÖC's lasers...$6.00.
Last saw them 2 summers gone, (including about 9 times between), and YES, they still got the goods!
🇨🇦
Best Live Band ever
Saw them at an outdoor venue
Last week
They still got it
What a song!....sends chills....it's cursed...
Blue Oyster Cult still got what it takes to abduct us
When this song dropped I was not expecting it to be this good. On the surface it was a bunch of Boomer rockers who hadn't been relevant in 30 years at least making a song about a meme.
Then I listened to it. And I come back to it every time I hear the latest Florida Man exploit. It is a timeless classic.
Reminds me of Perfect Water...
@BLACKBLADE 80 Same here.. Blackblade is a great song too.
I love that blue öyester cult... the Florida man vibe is my characters with a lot of my characters
DAMN. I LOVE BLUE Öyster Cult EVEN MORE.
Hey Tarantino, here you have the soundtrack for your next serial killer film!!
Perfect song. This should have been a single/video release.
Lyrically stronger now than anything since 1974
I love how the lyrics imply that all the ridiculous illegal events happening in florida are due to a tribal curse enacted by the natives to the settlers.
I could listen to this song all day long the guy's really nailed it my only complaint is it's so good it needs to be longer so I can listen to it's silky smooth lyrics and melody thanks Buck , I love you man
Search and check out 'Florida Man' meme videos here on RUclips. There's lots of material for new verses to this song. No kidding.
Anyone else here catch the parallels in this song to "Harvest Moon." It's erie. Haunting riff and chorus, lyrics about cursed people in a land where Spaniards had tread hundreds of years ago and left.
These are recurring themes in BOC's lyrical lore. Imaginos talks about Spaniards becoming blinded by a dark force in the America's. I get goosebumps thinking about it.
Buck always has that ONE song.....what a genius.
As a Floridian, watching Stone Ocean, there's gotta be a Stand name of it!
The first three notes throw me off cause my brain is like "oh, Don't fear the reaper" and then the fourth note hits and my brain is just like "with is this"
Florida man! Not the hero we asked for, or needed for that matter, or even feel remotely safe having, but he's, ya know, uh there... I guess?
I feel like the line about the nurse could work if he said “Full Reverse”
My buddy from Jacksonvilles now ring tone 😂
This new one has the old sound, but Power Underneath Despair in 98 was some true heavy stuff. ---But what is heavy, or rock with BOC at the helm? All the rock bands, and all that great shit, and where does one turn to on a late 3am over the hill need for those one of a kind feelings? ---Florida Man brought it back at 2021 to 3am. ----This is good shit. ---Blue Oyster Cult is a very special band. ---Give me Sabbath, UFO, Accept, Dio, Rush, Floyd, Who, Beatles, Zep, Phil Lynott, Purple, Mountain, Neal, kinks, Bon Scott, Hendrix, ROXY, and all those unheard of bands like Saxon, and Cirith Ungol.----Moterhead too!!! Hawkwind---Robin Trower---And let us not forget Atomic Rooster, or that Authur Brown mother fucken rock god from hell and heaven!!! And how about every other band you are all yelling at me to put on here!!! --The point is that BOC is something of a special kind of band. --We all love Kiss, and the Scorpions--And I loved when Micheal Sckanker attacked me live at one of his shows, but that was the mad axman doing what he did best!!! BOC is a different kind of rock. When, if, or how you run through those albums of theirs, you will find something special. A career of evil? A spaceship? A unknown tongue? The stars in outer space, or sole survivor of strange wars. ----How about a Florida Man? ---Lets Rock-N-Roll !!!!
G E N I U S
What a great song.
Thanks for the lyric video! I just found out about this song and was wondering what the lyrics are!
Proud floridian lol
I love this...the music has bite and substance, it's beyond a novelty song trying to get on Dr. Demento or something. The playing is tight and a sweet solo!
This song is so perfect!
I know Virtual Insanity is the fan favorite to be the p6 ending, but I’d like to submit Florida Man for the court’s consideration
We need a BÖC reference ASAP
honestly yeah i agree
great song
As a long-time BOC fan... this is classic BOC. Love it!
Great song from a great album!
Florida Man update: He was just arrested for stealing Nancy Pelosi's lectern from the capitol.
Except he didn’t steal it or get arrested.
They made a song of the meme lol
Good stand
How inaccurate, i didn't hear one alligator
🤪
Thank,s. GOD. And, JESUS...
AND Florida man
Moral of the story: Never visit Florida.
love this song very much !!!

Needs to be in GTA6

Nooo, Pucci, Weather, Joot and Anasui
Wonder if we will get Part 6 AMVs of this song

He's cursed...
All the weird happenings in Florida was because of JoJo Part 6: Stone Ocean.
And i live in Florida!
I’ll be honest fellas. This is an amazing song, but I could’ve used a little more cowbell. I gotta have more cowbell baby! Let’s play this again.
This song sucks LOL
