      Hey man, i noticed game mode w/ ambient light sensor off (which i always keep off) that auto tone curve & auto white balance are grey out but still on
      If you turn ambient sensor mode on then you can go down to turn those 2 items off, then go back and turn the main ambient sensor off.
      Confusing, but what are your thoughts ? In vivid they are all off, even the greyed out ones

      @@andyrickard6303 in the long run when production ramps up again the ps5 will pull ahead globally, just like the ps4. The playstation brand is too powerful. VRR isn't a necessity for gaming, and they'll release it when they're ready to. That's a very small amount of consoles sold anyway. If a majority of console gamers are still on ps4/pro, vrr doesn't matter 🤷🏻‍♂️
      I also need to say it all doesn't fall on sony. Everyone using the mediatek chip in their tvs have had problems. the current tvs are having the same problem. Maybe you didn't see, but panasonic's new tvs delayed their vrr to winter as well and they're running the same mediatek chip as sony.

    Im a recent convert to using Game Mode on my A90J. By recent I mean yesterday! Game Mode is incredible on this panel IF you have the right settings.
    If you set black tone medium / black level 47 or 48, neutral picture, sharpness 45 !!!! It’s so great. Without those settings it looked too sharp & the imagine was too wash out in HDR
    VRR is a mess on LG panels. Im not sure if we need w/ the processing they offer
    Just a PS5 gamer here

    • @SpencersStuffTV
      @SpencersStuffTV  3 года назад

      Yep I have a ps5 as well. I made my own settings in a different video which I know you commented on. I still haven't changed them. I left the black level at 50 but decreased gamma to -1. I had color on 60 with live color on low/medium to get the extra pop. Sharpness was at 47 for me. I had warm for my picture preset but neutral works as well. I think oleds are "cooler" color wise compared to their led counterparts

      I'm just happy we are all able to collaborate and figure out what we like. I found the panel is getting situated alot more now that I've put time into it. There is a break in period for the organic layer in the pixels and it's shifting very nicely for me

    • @woody5581
      @woody5581 3 года назад

      Yup !! It’s a stunning panel. Really incredible. Im w/ you on adding more color too in HDR game mode. 61 for me. I set live color high too. Adds pop

    • @woody5581
      @woody5581 3 года назад

      You dropping gamma down is probably similar to me doing black tone medium & black level 47 or 48
      The only reason I dont like dropping gamma is the whole screen gets darker. I feel like dropping the black levels & tone darkens grey blacks. If that makes sense. Either way, it’s fun to compare notes

    • @SpencersStuffTV
      @SpencersStuffTV  3 года назад

      @@woody5581 Im sure I'll be changing some stuff around as I play more. And that's precisely it. I drop gamma down to prevent potentially introducing black crush. I may try it though. You could be onto something. I used to play with live color on medium on my 930e. It can also depend on the game as well. Some games just are naturally more colorful than others 😀

      My thoughts exactly. I bought the panel because I love sonys image processing. I love their philosophy of picture first before features. They fill that niche part of the market where purists and people who want a fantastic all round product can go. I get tired of people living and dying by a few gaming features. Let's worry about getting consoles in the living rooms and getting games out before we worry about the features. Plus if there is a ps5 pro, I would love to see the features implemented right. I don't want the samsung route of creating garbage. I want to see sonys hdr games run with vrr and hdr flawlessly without a hiccup. Welcome to the page. Lg still makes great tvs, and I don't deny that. My primary issue I have with whisper, fomo, and some of the others lies in how they use their tvs... I look at a tv for the processing more than anything and I never feel they use their tvs to the potential they could reach. They don't stray away from the creators intent and it can lead to some issues for me. I've been working on settings to push the a90j, and hopefully will get a video up soon. I posted one but it got taken down for copyright 😑
      In the end I think it's good we all come together to talk about tvs and learn what people have to say besides the reviewers only. 😊 I still think sony is ahead in processing... Just because I actually use their processing... But yeah. Welcome to the page my friend

    But the mighty Vincent Teoh stated that PS5 is limited to 32 Gbits at 4K 120 with just 4:2:2 chroma, far from the 48 and 4:4:4 the A90J can manage. This is a problem that the VRR firmware update won't fix because it's inherent to PS5 hardware. So now what, Sony? 🤨

    Great video. Just subscribed. I am torn on what to get. I am thinking of the following:
    Sony X92J 100 inch - for the size
    Sony X95J 85 inch - for the better processor and higher peak brightness than the 92J
    Sony 83 inch A90J - never got an OLED and would love to get one
    Sony 85 inch 8K Z9J - just to have the TV for the next 10 years

      @SpencersStuffTV  3 года назад

      I think the x92, x95, the a90j, and the z9j all share the same processor. I would say personally the happiest medium would be the x95j or the a90j. I will be getting a new tv once QNED hits the market in about 4 or 5 years. I do like the oled a ton, this is my first one, but there are some aspects of the LEDs I miss, specifically the full field brightness. Larger tvs also have higher chance of uniformity problems... The size is all down to you. They're all going to be pricey!

    • @SpencersStuffTV

      You further my point. Yes it's currently capped on ps5. Any update could uncap that. A 10 bit panel can still be sent a 12 bit signal. This usually will clear gradation issues from the source. Dolby vision and hdr 10+ are both 12 bit signals. At any point in time, the ps5 tempest engine could also take up more bandwidth than the usual dolby source if a games audio becomes strenuous enough. Especially considered hundreds if not thousands of sounds could be sent at once. It's always better to have headroom just in case. Not to mention we don't know what the future holds. We could see new tech for 2.1 that does take more bandwidth or potentially pro models of these consoles or future tech. It's better to play it safe than sorry in my opinion.
