as you mentioned in the vid, i'd definitely like to see a side by side comparison of the real bass with the vst. also i'd really like to see a umansky bass vs. djinn bass
Bass is very similar to guitar in a lot of ways - a lot of bass players even play literal guitar chords when they play harmonies. The main difference between guitar and bass is that they require different finger techniques, and also of course serve different purposes, but they are technically almost the same instrument.
@@Peter_1986 "The main difference between guitar and bass is that they require different finger techniques" is quote worthy. Well played. 😆 Good thing is, it will be easy for you to find a bass player for your projects with that perspective. Just grab one of the MANY "I suck as a guitarist but still want to be in a band" musicians trolling Craigslist and you are good to go.

This bass has shocking versatility because everything it does is based on a pristine tone. Its a tone I was looking for for a long time. I play pretty much every genre with this.
Bro every time I dial in a tone, it always ends up sounding identical to how you dial in your setups! That’s how much I’ve watched your content. You’re killing it brodie!
Love to see it. Any guitar player can play the basics on a bass so it makes sense to have one kicking around. And playing bass is sick. I love my Squier Jazz. 🥰 Works for everything from standard tuning to drop Z (with some studio magic, of course). I hope you learn to love the bass if you don't already!
This just made me want a bass even more. I really really just do not like doing the midi for bass even though it sounds pretty good. So much easier to just play.
I had the two-pickups version of the same Dingwall, but in the end, I found the fan-frets a bit too drastic for my comfort towards the headstock, so I sold it and replaced it with an Ibanez EHB1505. I like the Dingwall's tone and construction and design better, but the Ibanez is easier to play and more ergonomic due to being headless, lighter, and it has a more flexible EQ system. I would have gone for a Strandberg bass, but at the time it was too expensive for me.
When I ordered my Dingwall, my reaction to the soft case was "WTF!!!??" Made sure Sweetwater transferred the bass over to the hard shell I got for it before shipping. Yeah, that's the nicest gig bag I've ever seen. The bass would have been safer shipping in the bag. Second weird thing with Dingwalls that was unexpected: The passive and active settings are VERY well balanced volume wise. That switch is a viable on the fly tone adjustment.
Kind of surprised you havent checked Pipedream fretworks bass guitar. It's a 6 string bass-guitar. Only 27" scale, but probably would fit perfectly for what you're looking for
4:07 "playing riffs very poorly, I'm not a bass player" yeah right, 3 seconds later you play like Nolly. Oh, and that riff at 4:36 is pretty awesome! Great video, I was looking for this bass. I was a bit intrigued that although their price tag is high, they are made in China, but apparently the quality is fine.
@@Return2TheLiving sure, it's about the investment in quality control. just realized that my macbook pro is made in china, was pretty expensive but it works as a charm and never let me down. oh btw, I'm no gibson & fender fanboy.
Their price tag is definitely nothing to scoff at, but of all the 37" fanned fret basses that I've tried, they do it the best. All their import basses are assembled in China/Korea and shipped to their factory in Canada for final QC and setup, it definitely isn't the usual Chinese instruments that we all know. To drive their QC team home, they sent back a whole shipment of their amethyst burst combustions a couple years ago because there were flaws in just about every one of the basses they got. They informed customers that their pre orders had been delayed due to product not meeting their standards. Few months later, they got the shipment back and started shipping out some nice basses. This got long, I just really like Dingwall basses and had to take a second to assure you that the "made in china" sticker really doesn't hinder their performance at all.
Supper cool!!! So is the plan for this bass to be used on future releases or will you just stick to the VSTs? And if you are going to use it would Kynan play it on the releases or you?
I will probably end up using this whenever it makes sense to use. Any songs from standard to Drop G I would use this bass. Anything lower I would probably use a VST, or pitch shift this down hahahaha
I'm hoping this year I can finally grab a Dingwall after nearly a decade of wanting one. I REALLY want a NG3 6 string in Lambo Orange but I don't think Dingwall offers them anymore. The Ducati White is also a possibility 👀 Congrats on the new bass!
Hey dude, just want to give you a helping hand. It’s not as travel safe as it looks. My Dingwall got a chip whiles flying overseas. I’d look at getting a hard case for it !
"Don't play Bass so, fuck it, I bought a Dingwall" I've played metal guitar for 15 years and I decided to buy a bass last year. It was just a Squire Contemporary roasted maple. Anyways, its a very beautiful bass. + First time playing this beautiful machine, "I might as well use a Pick"

If you have the talent to play guitar, you have the ability to play bass. I Would like to see more content creators use real bass. I understand the overuse of Midi drums because not many of us have the facility to accommodate a real kit and what it would take to engineer such. However, grabbing virtual bass when you have the ability to play a real one just seems like lazy/ease of workflow ... Some of you good guitarists out there, yourself included would benefit from opening that door instead of "Look at the cool riffage" while the bass is just being a midi afterthought. Bass guitar is EQUALLY essential to all forms of metal as any guitar riff and/or tone... Not diggin at ya, just throwin a thought..

Writing bass lines is way more intuitive than using a bass than a midi piano roll or a keyboard.
