I got to try the brown body version of the 5 string Dingwall over 2 years ago! It felt natural w/ the fanned fret but for the electronics on it was overkill for my liking. Extremely high end product!!
"when you go into that kinda metally...." No... The 5th string means you have a bit of extra depth and if you play it properly it's massively effective to play everything on!
I was looking at the ng3 but I have an ng2 already as well and it seems the only new thing is replacing series bridge and middle pickup with a neck pickup. Would suck if you bought an ng3 and didn't like position 4.
The audio production is pretty bad in this video, I’m sure that in the room the tone and levels were fine but there’s some distortion (not the good kind) on the uploaded signal.
New guy seems like a nice dude! Both great players... Lee ripped on that 6 string. Not sold on £2k approx when you can get a genuine Musicman Stingray or Bongo for not a lot more and their B strings are TIGHT and aggressive.
Yeah right? I just can't be sold on a second class instrument built in China no matter how it was amazingly made and in Canada quality checked for the price of a genuine US made or hier Canada for Dingwall, and just how you already said for the same price you can get an amazing musicman that sounds to my liking even better and have one of the best sounding B-strings
My Bongo (4 string, ebony fingerboard) cost me 1770 USD$ brand new but i didn't have to ship international. I DEFINITELY want one of these bad boys but I think the only reason to really get it is that darkglass preamp and the fanned frets/bridge. It's worth it to some people and not to others but the low B on Bongos is truly a work of magic.
Same quality as any overpriced Musicman or Warwick. The Dingwall is an excellent instrument. I got a Ng3-6 to replace my Thumb bass 6. Beautiful action, Fully adjustable bridge. Weighs 4 kilos. The perfect tension on each string. A massive sounding B, E and A. The C string is clear and loud. And in Australia it cost me $1000 dollars less than A Bongo 6. And here in Australia, "Genuine, made in the US" Doesn't mean shit.
Apparently 19mm which is similar to what you would find on a jazz bass. probably looks big as 5 strings usually have the strings brought in closer to eachother.
Hey so what do you guys think of Rod Stewart and the Faces. I know this may be the wrong forum. But I am very curious. Is he British? Lol. Definitely that band was the dirty ass tone lol. Love those guys
Still not convinced by these, they’re a lot of money and you could probably pay a bit more for a Stingray or a Bongo, or a lot less for an ibby BTB or one of their new fanned fret jobs. It’s a matter of taste and personal opinion but I tried one of these next to an MTD Kington and preferred the Kingston. If you had real money then a Canadian made Dingwall is no choice at all, they’re magnificent.
It really comes down to the pickup position for the modern "djenty" low tuned bass. The Dingwalls having the soapbars right next to each other gives you a giant humbucking tone not found in other bases. The musicman humbuckers are close but the Dingwalls are like they are on steroids.
Aaron Hooper you’re absolutely spot on and of course the scale length of these things is necessary for the low tuning, they really are the bass of choice for that kind of music. I hope to make a purchase of either an NG3 or a Music Man when all this is over but I think when I try them both I will prefer the Music Man. I’m also getting old so the Dingwall might not suit an old man 😂
For the 5/6 string player i feel its an amazing value, i got mine for that low A to be tight, after using everything else that’s considered its competition
A bass priced around two grand is china-built? As much as I like the looks and sounds, I don't understand this. Besides that, a great review as always.
Have you ever tried them? I have one and and the quality is perfect. They ship those basses to Canada from China and do complete quality check, reassembly and setup before sending those to retailers. So the quality is same as canadian Dingwalls.
You clearly haven't listened to a Periphery record where the bass is a literal monster. It's all in the way the player plays, and how they dial in their tone.
Hunter Baker periphery stinks. These have no inherent tone. They just click and clank. A weak attempt to replicate a Stingray tone. I know my metal and these aren’t metal at all.

Team Andertons. 🤘❤️
At first I tought Nathan played with N0lly xD
The Darkglass preamp does not have a treble control. It's +/- 12db bass @ 7hz, low mid @ 500hz, high mid @ 2.8khz
@7:58 Nathan: "I love the sound of these basses. I think this preamp really gives it a lovely GLASSY... " One might say DARK GLASSY even. ;)
Where's Lee?! I'm missing the "yeah!"
FUJI Oxford he left Andertons.
@@Ben_Mdws Whhhaaaaattt?? Noooooooo, he was fun to watch. I'll miss him.
Reinaldo Alejandro Miret Laurenet you’re getting your Lee’s confused mate.
I read “Adam Neely” 😂😂 I thought this was a bass of him...😁 Still, I’m not disappointed 😃
I believe he also uses a dingwall
Super surpised to see these are 4 bolt neck joints! Not that there's anything wrong with that, I'd just always assumed they would be 5 or 6 bolt.

Aw man, bass man Lee has left? The public must be informed Boss Man Lee!
Dingwall basses are amazing.
I thought it was Nolly at first :D
I got the a 5 string ng2 last month and it's a beast of an instrument

@@citizennozmeda7232 I'm karting around 2 extra pickups! I only use the middle pickup, on my Ng3-6.
Wow, you guys KICK BUTT! Great to see you both. Stay healthy, happy and groovy as always.
love this channel
Me: can we have nolly?
Mum: we have nolly at home
Nolly at home =........

Dingwall basses look like they came from the future
They did
6:33 sounds bad ass
Is this new? I thought the NG3 came out a while ago

The low b on the bongos is insanely tight but the slap is kinda part of that dingwall sound. Also, the bongos realllyyy look like toilet seats tbh
Nowhere near tight as a 37 inch dingwall unfortunately. But yeah I ended up buying a bongo, it's just a bit more versatile.

Giant string spacing!

For some reason, I’m imagining the song at the beginning playing during a scene where Steven Segal is chasing down various criminals.
Where the hell’s Lee been?
Patrick Williams apparently he left Andertons
I just bought one. Now I'm broke.
That low rumble thooooo
Trying to lure us in with imposter Nolly 😂
Waaait a minute... That's not Nolly!
1999 € would be lovely. they are 2749 € now :(
Prices are skyrocketing, they are insane. They should have stayed at 2000 euros.
Nathan has to work harder now to keep it fun. James seems nice, but needs to learn to loosen up, it's supposed to be fun.
Hey so what do you guys think of Rod Stewart and the Faces. I know this may be the wrong forum. But I am very curious. Is he British? Lol. Definitely that band was the dirty ass tone lol. Love those guys
My headphones started shaking when they play the b string😭

The number one reason N95 mask fail is the inability to contain bass face.
Try a 3M 8833
Where's the Young Bassist Version Lee
gareth naicker apparently he left
@@EmptyDomoKanti99 that's a shame. Really liked him. Great player. Seemed like a genuine guy too

The parts are only machined in China, all the actual hand assembly is done in Canada.
A 2k bass guitar made in China stirs people the wrong way but a 2k piece of tech also made in China does not? Lol.
Fuck, I shouldn't have used the budget Nolly joke in the last video since now it would be more fitting.
Fake news: this is a fake Nolly haha! Sick basses
2k made in China? Nope.
I’ll never buy anything from China knowingly again mate!
Well you're an idiot obviously!
It’s pretty obvious who’s the the idiot! I’m a rocket scientist compared to you!

Nope. Those sound terrible.

Go back to your shitty thrash bass tone.
