One thing I've not seen talked about much is the performance. I am ASTOUNDED with how well the game runs on my mid-range laptop, especially for an early access title. I'm literally getting 250+ FPS non-stop. To be fair, the max resolution on my monitor is 1920x1080, but I was still expecting at least a bit of stuttering or drops in bigger fights. I dunno what wizardry Supergiant have done to accomplish this. With all of the animated background elements, lighting effects, the amount of stuff that can be happening on screen at once, and the sheer quality and smoothness of the art and animations, I am just in awe. Hells, this is running better than Balatro does for me.
my old laptop from 2019 is still rocking this game!!!!! tho there is bricklike visual error. aside from that there is no problem in gamplays

the game automatically set itself to low graphics automatically on my laptop but i felt nothing wrong so i just kept bumping up the graphics and still butter smooth its insane
hades 1 needed me to turn graphics down until it was a bit grainy to run even half as good

I made it to the second biome yesterday, but after quite a few runs. I didn’t see Eris, so yeah, I think that’s a mechanic to try to ‘encourage’ you to take the L and go back to the Crossroads. Loved your reaction to that second boss fight, I know how much Hades has meant to you!

3rd boss (without spoilers) is sooo cool, but i find it a bit easy
I just started playing in the "Go Up" area of the game and it also has an open-world style area but done in a much different way.
I just finished playing for over 5 hours and this game is amazing. I'm not the same caliber of player but I'm happy to have made it to Scylla 2 runs in a row and nearly won the 2nd time
The Scylla fight is everything i hoped we'd see in a boss and so much more

Not just that, Hades 2 releasing (even just EA) is a big deal for Haelian on a lot of fronts. Hades 1 built his channel and Hades 2 means he's got guaranteed income for a good bit here, it's going to be huge for him financially. Look at the viewcounts on his Hades 2 videos vs other games, Hades 2 is like 10-20x higher. That's a dude that not only is playing a new game that he loves, but also realizes that he's going to be able to take care of his family for a while because of it. Must be a great feeling, I'm super happy for him.

I died before Hecate on my first run.
On the second run I made it to Scylla and got the eris debuff. So it’s def not a first run thing.
Maybe it’s random if she shows.
Ive only seen her when I get to a new area for the first time so far
fucker made me die to second boss 2nd and 3rd try, and then made me die to the third boss on my next 3 attempts too
I didn’t play the tech test so had to die about 4-5 times before Hecate. Didn’t see Eris at second biome. Saw her at 3rd biome entrance around my 7th night, didn’t see her again when I came back the next run I made it there. Saw her at entrance to 4th biome around 11-12th night.
I think it’s probably like 4-5 runs for each biome (like if you passed Hecate before 5th night, Sirens before 10th etc.)

It only cost me 335 mexican pesos and this is amazing, although they're things to tune up or to fix, this game is awesome in every way. I ain't regret anything but the fact that I want more time to play this awesome game.

The Sirens caught another victim. Its a nice touch to have the animation be linked to the music in that way. Great first run

He did have a lot of practice with Hecate though, must have done close to 20 runs on the Technical Test

The game surpassed all my expectations! I almost called in sick this morning after playing very late last night! The game feels massive compared to the first one. Can't wait to finish work and get back to it. Death to Chronos and Moonlight Guide You!

I made it all the way to the boss of the 3rd Biome, such an incredible game
I don't much like the magick weapon, the other 3 "normal" weapons seem better, but maybe I just need some guide or something lol
wonder if the other 2 weapons will come later? Love the 5x5 arcanas, more content than just the tech test
I had my best run with the magic weapon it is really fun

@@justarandomdood I had epic hestia burn on attack with another boon that increased burn damage to armored foes by a lot (also a duo boon that removed health but made me regenerate health after 3 seconds of not being hit) but Eris’s blessing made it that I got oneshot
The special with either Apollo or Zeus slaps. Apollo because the orbs hitboxes get much bigger, and Zeus because Blitz it just nasty. Run into a room, use omega special, and spam special. If enemies get too close, just tap cast, run away, and keep spamming special.

I know a million people have said it, but the Siren fight is one of the coolest things Supergiant has ever done
I played hours and hours last night. I'm so hype to watch you kick ass through this game. I got to the second boss in my second run I think, but I am very impressed you got it before unlocking anything!
They also dropped the soundtrack and it is absolutely amazing

I can’t wait for all the broken builds. One of my favorites so far is Aphrodite attack and empower your omega attack as much as possible and increase your damage reduction. The hammer that allows you to do other stuff during the attack is super good. Pom the hell out of attack and it is both single target Elim and crowd control.
YES! This has been one of my most anticipated games and I bought it as soon as I noticed this video. Gonna play it tomorrow. So excited!
Update: I played about an hour of it and it's pretty good so far. I'm getting used to the new attacks and enemies. My first run, I died in the first room. I still haven't gotten farther than like room 4. It seems more challenging than Hades 1, but then again, I struggled at first on that game too. However, I got further on my first runs. Pretty sure I got to the mini boss on my first try and to the 1st boss after a few tries. I love the character designs so far. The music and art style are great. I do find it weird that the cast is the thing that makes the circle and the special is the long range attack. It's nice that I can shoot the projectile an unlimited amount of times. The main attack is interesting, but it's taking some getting used to. I'm sure it'll be the same learning process for each weapon like with the first game. After a while, I'll be much more proficient with them. There were weapons in Hades 1 that I struggled with for a while (like the gun) and others that I was really good with (like the fists).
I remember chat asking when will you stop playing hades. I remember you answering forever or at least until a better game comes.

The second boss is so good. Love how the instruments drop out as you beat different ones, and the flavor of a rock band group of sirens is so funny. Music actually slaps too

Definitely an anti-first run/few first runs gimmick with eris. At first I thought it was weird, but it made sense after a bit to make you experience as much as possible before your first success, especially the "other way" bit (trying to be spoiler free and obtuse as possible lol) but also make it a cool almost no-hit challenge for speedrunners and such which it basically already is anyway. I do think if you have a save file with a win they should let any new saves you make avoid it.

If i had to guess Eris is going to be the way to activate pack of punishments maybe the packs become somewhat more RNG to diversify the difficulty?

I'm kind of hoping the third biome is tartarus, since the house is located there, and have the boss be all three fury sisters like at once. That would be so fun to fight all of them again, let them upgrade their powers and fight together. Yes I just want to fight meg again and interact with her.
The axe is my favorite weapon so far. Got to the final boss with it first try even though I died. Took several 40+ hits made that fight a bit quick :/.

Spamming special is really strong, you basically just fill the screen with spinning damage orbs

Love it so far but (Spoilers below):
I do not like the Eris curse "blessings." they feel very intentional to ensure you lose those runs. I lost both runs where I was cursed/blessed by Eris. it feels deliberately unfair.
Yeah and the fact you get pegged with them in the 3rd biome is rough

@l.n.3372 I played some more, and it's seeming more like the Eris "blessings" are random as to which biome they pop up in if they pop up at all... I spoke too soon, and honestly, I don't know how they work other than they seem to end my run every time lol
Man, I though Eris's +20% damage each encounter meant the final boss would hit each time for 500% more damage, +20% each time. Still, would be about ~125% with the number of encounters, nothing to sneeze at.

Only thing I'm not a fan of so far is the clunky dash, feels a touch delayed and the sprint mechanic pretty much doesn't feed into anything else, doesn't even feel that much faster so spamming dash is still the way I get around places.

Do you think the damage numbers are too small? The fights seem to last forever it's quite exhausting
It's the first run on a new save plus I don't know the game very well, kinda feel like Hades 1 was the same under the circumstances.
@@Haelian Is it me or does Melinoe not able to dash out of a lot of her attacks. Maybe it was the same for Hades 1, i do not remember. Feels a lot clunkier and more difficult here.

I'm guessing Eris is the dev's answer to people who progress too quickly. Instead of just killing them outright, they crank up the difficulty.

I triggered Eris after defeating Hecate on my third Night (run). My guess is that Supergiant knows most people playing Hades 2 Early Access have played the original, so the difficulty curve is much lower this time. So, in order to prevent gud players from outpacing the intended narrative flow, especially in the beginning when everything is still new, Eris shows up to slow your roll.
Lol that curse was for getting there 1st try - that'll make speedrunning dicey!!

I know that of they add a boss upgrade system with the heat levels like in hades 1 the siren boss will gi unbearably hard
I knew the OST was gonna slap, but HOLY FUCK it puts Will Smith to shame! This goes so hard.
The game basically feels like Hades 1 but at 0.5x speed. Dashing has been hard-nerfed (which i somewhat agree with), however the problem is that they replaced it with a sprint mechanic that feels both physically awkward to use and basically punishes your muscle memory from Hades 1. You need hold the dash button down every time you dash to enter sprint - but theres no reason not to be sprinting, so why make the player take that extra step every single time?
The slowness feeling is heavily exacerbated by the omega system. Bad luck if you use a weapon or build that relies on Omega skills because about 85% of your time spent playing that run is going to be waiting for your omega to charge lol
The sprint issue can easily be fixed with an auto-sprint button but the Omega system is going toneed a complete overhaul to feel as satisfying as Hades 1 (imo). And this is not to mention the boons that either dont synergise at all, or synergise /too/ well and will make you completely overpowered just from choosing 1-2 boons. If Hades 1 was a 10 i'd give this about a 7.5 in it's current state. Presentation is perfect tho
