- I saw a LOT of Negative Steam reviews complaining about lack of damage. Even though this is a roguelite game and you should be getting stronger over time, there are a few details that you can miss that can be a huge difference in your damage.

This is my first ever guide for Hades (1 or 2) so I hope you all enjoy. If you have any tips that I didn't cover in the video, post them below for everyone else 👇🏾
One thing you didn't mention, even if it's a bit spoilery, is that using the Origination arcana card is super important for dealing more dmg (+50% increase at max level is just nuts)

I sometimes forget that this game is in early access. It already has the same amount of content than hades 1 if not more. The weapons feel so much more fun and complex than those from the first game, the boss fights are amazing and the biomes feel really different from each other. I'm excited to see where this game will be a year from now
I have to disagree. This game is great, but the content is far less fleshed out, and thus feels much emptier than Hades 1. Not to mention, the weapon aspects are lacking in imagination at the current point (barely a single aspect that synergizes with casts f.e.), and its obviously going to change quite a bit until release. The shield from Hades 1 by itself is more complex and interesting than most aspects in Hades 2. The depth of the boon combinations was also more complex offensively in Hades 1, just look at the duo boons from Hades 1 compared to 2. A lot things in Hades 2 are not linking together yet, and im certain that will change for the official release.
@gintuner4371 Hm. I realize that my original comment implies that I think the game is release ready, which is not the case. My point was that the early access lays an incredible foundation for the eventual full release. You need to remember that in EA, Hades 1 was not the perfect game it is now, and it spent almost 2 years in EA before full release. If supergiants track record is anything to go by, the same will be true for this game. I can't wait to see what the game looks like 2 years from now

The only issues i have with this game so far is lack of viable builds per weapon and the anime art style they went with for certain things (Arachne, young Mel and a few other things). Using that style for only a couple things when a majority of the game has the same style as the first game just seems stupid and out of place.
i've seen multiple videos with people using tiny melinoë on the thumbnail and i love it. tiny mel straight up got me, she's adorable
There’s young mel, normal mel, tiny mel and giant mel to look foward to.
There was a chronos fight I had recently where I applied over 50k scorch on him. I was looking for the explosive boon the whole rum but she never gave it to me. It would've made the kill insane.
The damage in this game is so crazy that sometimes i don'T even realize what actually killed the boss :D
Though it may not be appropriate for a beginner-ish guide like this, I would have loved a breakdown of some prominent multiplicative vs additive damage sources, and how to tell them apart. Could be a part 2 to this guide with some build examples.
So, I wanted to commend you on something, thanks for taking the time to edit the video so you wouldn't spoil conversations with characters (Chaos), even if the game has been out for some weeks already. I haven't been checking videos out for Hades II because I wanted to experience most of it myself, even if I'll inevitably catch some spoilers. This video was great in that regard for newcomers to the game

I agree with the negative reviews. I left a negative review for Super Mario Bros too. The jump attack does too little damage, 1 jump for goombas and 2! for turtles. Ridiculous!
It feels like its punishing for better players that play mostly via melee. I loved Hades 1. This one seems like there's too much random stuff to remember and consider. The sprint and the moves feels janky. Controller is a serious disadvantage to mouse and keyboard. I been doing crap plays so I can die early to unlock stuff, because buffs I need are locked behind deaths.
I think I never ran into Eris because I struggled so much. Still nice that I got to Chronos. Also, dislike nemesis. Gave me a death defiance when I was maxed, saying that ‘you need all the help you can get’. condescending piece of crap

The first 2 examples are stupid as fuck, the first - they have armor, the 2nd you do even less dmg and not vs armor lol. I stopped the vid after that.
very good guide but can you make torches work tho 😁
The only build tips I got for Torches were either:
--Just build around cast
--go all in on aphro and just dodge 5head
Played for 30 hours and came to youtube looking for guides on strategies. Most guides only cover basic mechanics that you should learn within the first 2 hours but this one actually goes in depth on strategy, exactly what i was hoping for! Hope you'll do another one in the future.

Man I really didn't expect that review at the start.
I thought is was a given already from the Rogue Lite tag that succeeding runs makes the player more powerful, the main reason for low damage is not unlocking much yet
Okay just after my other comment... What you say at min 11:20 is a bit deceiving, that Boon affects Attacks, and the clip afterwards shows an Special, so it wouldn't be affected x)
Also sadly, what the clip at min 12:50 shows, is unobtainable by standard means, since it would require hitting an anvil at last shop that removes the correct hammer, and casually gives the other two necessary ones for this combo (it's a setup from a chaos trial, but you can't get more than 2 daedalus hammers in a run without certain keepsake)
thanks for the clarification on hammers. I really wanted to show how you could go from Omega Attack-> Disable it and only do a basic swing-> (Keepsake/Echo) Bonus swing on final hit
You can also get a third hammer from echo duplicating the last reward.

I am a Hades speedrunner, and have 200 plus hours in 2 rn. But this was well done man. I see so many people who drop the game before understanding its mechanics. This is an awesome vid for beginners, and you got a new sub!

Keepsake first you get it from beating her, if you beat the underworld with it do it again with no arcana and if you can do that especially with an aspect of mel staff you should be good to go.
For some constructive criticism: while you are talking, you should have the characters voices muted. It was difficult to hear your voice over the in game dialogue you included in your video.

If you want to be better in Hades II follow this instructions:
1) Install Hades II
2) Uninstall Hades II
3) Install Hades
4) L2P
5) Back to step 1 skip other steps.
BTW Game Is Hard, it took me 49 nights to kill Chorno for first time.
Ma fav build is just zeus spam cast like your enemies cant do anything and you just cast and run even better when you have hestia run boon

People complain about lot of stuff in this including damage and how boring it is like the aim of a roguleike isnt kill die learn upgrade repeat seriously dont just randomly go into a game a get god like shit right off the bat you gotta earn that through playing more as you get better
It's actually so insane when people complain about damage and i already have several builds that can kill Chronos in like less than a minute :D

@Veedotme that one had an intentional death at the start to push eris back to the fields but Baj posted a true first start fresh file first run on his channel a week ago as well.

Just a small complaint: it's hard for me to pay attention to what you're saying when I hear someone else (the characters in the game) speak at a similar volume at the same time. I have to keep backtracking to process what I'm hearing and it's frustrating.
Aside from that, keep up the good work! :)

My issue with hades has always been that it punishes you early on for playing well. Since progression is determined by number of runs, and required to unlock mechanics that give you more power, a skilled player will actually take much longer to unlock the systems needed to win. Add Eris enemy buff on top of that and you really smack skilled players in the face in the early game. This really deterred me from progression. Now that I’ve unlocked all the systems, just like the original hades, it’s become far too easy to consistently get the busted builds I want to get a win. I beat Chronos +Eris within 30 runs or so (several being cursed surface runs) and I’m already pretty bored. Scylla boss fight is one of the best boss fights in any game though, I’ll give it that
I really wish I could relive the days of when I was doing poorly in Hades (obviously because I was new and was picking up the game for the first time)
Hades 2 definitely improves upon the 1st game's combat system but because of how the game is structured, if you're a veteran who can easily pick up on the changes, it does feel like the game is against you, then back to getting you busted stuff
Though I've just been taking my time and just letting it play-out, especially since this also means that Melinoë's character is actually being developed and is going through a similar arc, where literally almost everyone doesn't believe in you and thinks she's too cookie cutter compared to our boi Zag (in which case, her whole arc is actually having to grow on her own and be her own character)
@@Xendrick I just wish story and character progression weren’t limited to a single dialogue per run. I grinded through the first game all the way to the epilogue and it just got to the point where 9/10 times the dialogue was just repeating essentially the same information, just worded differently, or it was just flat out jokey lines that didn’t push the narrative at all
Game actuallt rewards skilled players, cuz if you can proceed with Eris' debuff she wont appear anymore, she only appeared in the ocean for me, and i got to Chronos in that run, that's why she didn't appear for me anymore
@@ДенисБоричевский-н1р that’s definitely not how it works lol. She was at the end of every biome for me on every run for at least the first 10 runs. They recently patched the game and reduced how often she appears precisely because it was too often. Maybe you’re not as skilled as you thought?
Just for reference. I reached Chronos on my 2nd run and was able to reach him consistently after that. Scylla got me on the first.

The entire game is a woke fest. The first one at least was more fast paced. This game feels slower and the story is meh. The builds are much more limited too despite being way more complicated with all the ingredients, cards, tools etc. No fun like Hades 1. The limitation on builds is pretty obvious.
