A tip. DONT USE A HAND REAMER. I have the UTK from JCR, and it was a pain in the ass getting the holes the right size by hand lol. Lucky I got their steering though, first time out in the mountains I nailed a rock with the new tie rod, bent it up a bit, if it was stock it would have snapped in half
"looking like a newborn deer"... lol "...goin in a DRY HOLE" ...lmao! ....... "Prrrrrrrrrt" LMFAO!!! Congrats on the beefier steering guys, AND the extra clearance. Keep up the great work!
Great video. Ya'll are hilarious and I love your stuff! With that said, and I know I'm just being a nitpicky hater here, but I got a few little things: When installing the Pitman arm, CLEAN THE THREADS then threadlocker then install. Use a box end instead of an adjustable for the tie rod end nuts. Also, when you've got a deep socket of a decent length on a wrench and you're putting some torque on it, brace the wrench at the top of the socket so you won't side load the fastener or nut and/or round off the sides and/or have a wrench flying off and hitting your face. Awesome walkthrough, keep it up guys, again, love your stuff and entertaining as hell. Jeep on!
Alright boys I just finished my JCR over the knuckle setup. I am at the same point you are at. Just need to weld up the sway bar relocation brackets. Soo I'm crackin open a beer and waiting for that video. While I was in there I went ahead and swapped my steering gearbox with the 99 Durango. Feel like I'm driving a Cadillac now.
Anthony Winters Nice Bud! Been wanting to do the Durango upgrade. Just gotta get one first...... Hold tight. We'll get that sway bar bracket episode out for ya.
looks like you have some axle seals leaking, you should do a video on how to fix those. Just an idea. D30s have shims to set backlash, would be a great and easy video to put out. I'm sure many people have the same problem with their seals.
The axle seals right there on the front axle, they are right inside the diff where the carrier bearings are. We have a special tool to install them at work, but a 35mm socket and extensions work just as good, that's how I did mine.
PBR is the ONLY beer! That ice cold, good old Red, White, & Blue! Ain't nothin like drinkin a cold brew covered in grease and dirt under ur jeep! That's how I do shit.
WOW thanks for the quik reply....ok then what do ya think for a 05 jeep wrangler in the rocks.... i am looking at OX locker or a truetrac the money says truetrac but my heart says OX locker
+Allan Wagner Truetracs are great. you're less likely to break other stuff with one of those. But OX will fully lock your dif. Think that full lock is better for mud than rocks, but I'm sure people will disagree
Amy Galer Not a video, but we did a write up before we started the RUclips thing. Check it out here: www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/pbr-inspired-xj-189166/index2/
I had the jcr set up and just got my ruff stuff 3/4 heim steering it's cheaper and way stronger I broke the jcr tie rods multiple times. Just my two sense. I daily my jeep and the heims have way less play and last way longer.
James Hebert Our Pals at Enlisted Budget Videos did a video on that. They didn't use all OE stuff though. Here's a link: ruclips.net/video/pIAOjqeJnts/видео.html
So I got my JCR OTK kit installed and just got an alignment. My jeep is driving a lot better but i've noticed some bump steer. I use my 97 jeep xj as a daily driver. Is it possible to install a steering stabilizer since the old bracket is cut off? and any chance of the sway bar relocation mount video in the future? Thanks for the awesome video really helped a lot putting together this kit.
We'll be shooting that next weekend. not sure how long before it comes out though. The stabilizer won't help bump steer. That's usually caused by differing deflection between your drag link vs your track bar. basically not traveling together but pushing away from eachother as the suspension moves up and down. That is for that particular setup, that is...
+Todd None yet. Thinking that if we did have issues, we'd probably beef up, or rebuild the existing bracket. OTA track bars are good for clearance, but are way shorter. There's way more tracking back and forth with the suspension as it goes in and out. On road handling goes way out the window with an OTA setups.
hey i need some help my steering went off and started to unstraighten itself so i straighten it out the way you guy do and it keep going back ... i only have replace the gear box in my steering system..
Ramses Valenzuela Not always. Depends on what your after. Heims have no give, and dont feel great on road. Heims are also open to the elements, so their a lot higher maintenance.
+Allan Wagner Does the trick. Bit of gettin' used to keeping off the gas round corners, but that comes with any auto-locker. and they're noisy as all hell. You'd think somethings broken in there, but thats just how they work. All and all, good in our books.
I Could use that video. Want to do the same thing. Got the parts. Just need the tapered reamer. I guess a bit of welding is required for the sway bar connects?
Bill Moser Ducks101fan summed it up. But you will need it if you do what so many people do when they try to get a better pinion angle, adjust your caster angle in to the negative. Stay smart. Friends don't let friends drive Negative Caster.
hey, when you are using a tapered reamer you should run it much slower than you have shown in the video them things are very expensive. they should only be powered by hand.
What about the stabilizer bracket? When I got my jeep it had 1 ton steering already on it with heim joints! But no brackets for sway bars or the steering stabilizer. How would n I do the bracket for the stabilizer?
bigb3576 There are kits out there that fit stabilizers like you would see on a 1 ton truck, that attach to the axle tube and mount to the tie rod using bolt on brackets. You can also get kits that run dual stabilizers that bolt on in a similar way.
I have a 3" Zone lift kit, and 30" tires on 15" rims. I don't off road much, just occasionally go on trails. would you recommend OTK or UTK from JCR? I need to upgrade my steering but don't know which one is more ideal for me.
Steve O'Brien It's more about when we have the time to make an episode..... Things have been pretty crazy this summer, but we are working to put more stuff out there. We try to focus on quality over quantity. Thanks for your patience..... We do have a bunch of stuff coming up.
Did you lose any steering radius? I installed it now have worse turning radius than my pick up truck. Had it at 2 different offroad shops and I Called them up with pictures of the set up and they said they don't know why
5:01 "we have no plans for that thing coming off again"
steering box "am i a joke to you?"
I like these guys. Remind me of the good old days, working with my buddy in my garage, with the 12 packs.
The gift that just keeps on giving.
OVER THE KNUCKLE STEERING! nice , hope to do this soon.
I've watched a couple of your videos. Great job fellas!!! Educational yet VERY entertaining! Keep up the good work!!
Power Addicts - Jeep, car and motorcycle tips Thanks Bud!
All those new parts and you left the Trac bar at the wrong angle to help promote bump steer big time ,nice

Congrats on the beefier steering guys, AND the extra clearance.
Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the direct, to the point step by steps and the steady camera work. Oh and being hilarious while doing it.
😄
Props on showing the correct way to do cotter pins...
This is great! I love this channel. I wish I would have found it sooner.
Rough Country dies a little inside with ever video you guys release. Keep up the good work!
James Wright Hahahahahahahaha!!!!
I haven't laughed that hard at a comment in a while..........
Lol, anytime! Any plans to lock those axles?
James Wright Yeah Bud.
Just not sure what to go with yet, and waiting for the budget to make it possible....
www.lokka.com I've got those front and rear on my XJ on 35s. No problems so far!
James Wright Just not sure yet if we're gonna go with a cable locker, air locker, or an auto locker........
Awesome! You guys need to make some videos of that XJ in action!
WeLiveJeep Wokin' on it Bud! Workin' on it......

We all have bad habits....
Glad you like the show though, we're doing what we can to make the DIY genre more fun.

Wish you guys would make a come back loved watching your videos
So glad i just found this channel!
+Austin Jolly Thanks Bud!
You guys are my favorite RUclipsrs! You guys should do the easiest way to do alightment on the xj
+Austinsiphone In the works.....
With out a doubt. Gotta love these guys. I do.
Where can i get some one experienced enough to install this? Looks great and sturdy! If possible ... in NYC!
this channel is awesome glad I found it
pdasch0 We're glad you found it too!
Do us a favor, and help other people find it by sharing on social media.
Thanks Bud!!

Looks good guys! D30 seals would be cool mine are bad too.
B Jake pretty big job for a little rubber seal too hey....
Literally Nobody: iPhone 12 is coming to stores near you
Me: 0:39
Good one guys.....Thannkx for the chat.
+Eka Wenda
Yeah, Thanks!
We had fun!!
Pinion seal replacements, front d30 axle seal replacement some ideas on what to do next.
TexasRedneck Good ideas!
Both blown on our Jeep.
Pabst Boys mine too :D
Did you guys make the relocation bracket video yet? Getting ready to do my XJ, thanks great video's.
Let's see you boys go off roading!
Is there no bumpsteer due to the track bar/drag link angles??
Wonder with all these upgrades if the jeep has death wobble
Well I bet he does no matter what upgrades you install drag link MUST be parallel with track bar ALWAYS
Is that a dana 30 running 35s? Curious how well it is holding up because I really don't want to axle swap.
What drop pitman arm did you guys use? Building one ton steering rn and my drag link angle is too extreme. Running about 8” of lift.
How are you not hitting your diff cover when you turn hard right
CV axle on one side and U joint on other side? hahaha i been there man !
Went back to see, too funny
Haha just noticed
Can you do a vid overview of how you replaced the rockers with the tubing? Plan to do it just want to see how you did it.
Amy Galer Not a video, but we did a write up before we started the RUclips thing.
Check it out here:
www.cherokeeforum.com/f46/pbr-inspired-xj-189166/index2/
Is there a link so i myself can buy some of these ? Asking for a friend
You guys should do a quick overview of the custom fender flares u guys have, i wanna make a set of metal ones for my rig. Thanks
dhickey1997 We get a lot of requests for that...... guess we might have to put something together....
I had the jcr set up and just got my ruff stuff 3/4 heim steering it's cheaper and way stronger I broke the jcr tie rods multiple times. Just my two sense. I daily my jeep and the heims have way less play and last way longer.
bro do you remember what size drill bits you used for the ruff stuff
bro do you remember what size drill bits you used for the ruff stuff steering
Looks like a great set up but have u guys hurd of the v8 zj steering swap? Its cheaper and uses oem parts
James Hebert Our Pals at Enlisted Budget Videos did a video on that. They didn't use all OE stuff though.
Here's a link:
ruclips.net/video/pIAOjqeJnts/видео.html
I miss this channel!!
Where do i get the reamer and what size?
Do you guys have a video installing the swaybar brackets?
not yet.
Will do though
Where is the video on relocating the sway bar and steering stabilizer mounting points?
Haven't made it yet. Just 'round the corner.
Would this be the same application for wj hd otk steering ?
How about the bump steer bc of the angles between the t bar and drag link
Did you reuse old steering stabilizer or does this system replace a need for one at all?
I was surprised you didnt use Rough Country........ lol looks great !
Ain't no way that's going to flex ;)
where you guys at anyway ????? WE are looking at oregon I used to live there way back when
+Allan Wagner We're in BC Canada. few hours north of Washington.
Oregon is nice. always wanted to live there....
Great video by the way! Because of you guys i want to try PBR! They should pay you guys some money hahahaha
Ramses Valenzuela Wouldn't that be nice!!
With that money you guys can buy more parts which means More videos!!! Hahaha
Ramses Valenzuela We'd be down with that....
Are you guys using the factory pitman arm or a drop?
what size drills did u use?
Front sway definitely removed ?
yall are awsome dudes... totally knarly video..
+DR Brown
Cheers Bud!
More on it's way...
So I got my JCR OTK kit installed and just got an alignment. My jeep is driving a lot better but i've noticed some bump steer. I use my 97 jeep xj as a daily driver. That is for that particular setup, that is...
Trac bar and drag link look all outta wack, was there a problem (solution?) for this?
Any issues with stock track bar axle bracket? Would be cool to see an OTA track bar video.
+Todd None yet. Thinking that if we did have issues, we'd probably beef up, or rebuild the existing bracket. OTA track bars are good for clearance, but are way shorter. There's way more tracking back and forth with the suspension as it goes in and out.
On road handling goes way out the window with an OTA setups.
just a fyi you know you can buy gm and ford offset 1 ton rod ends and you dont have to cut the sway bar mounts off.
+downsouth_ Zj
That is true.
did you guys score some new tires yet?
hey i need some help my steering went off and started to unstraighten itself so i straighten it out the way you guy do and it keep going back ... i only have replace the gear box in my steering system..
Why not the Iron Rock Off Road OTK steering? They come with heims aint that better?
Ramses Valenzuela Not always.
Depends on what your after. Heims have no give, and dont feel great on road.
Heims are also open to the elements, so their a lot higher maintenance.
Is clearance the only difference between under and over? Or does one work better than the other?
Could you post a link to where I can get that pitman arm?
hey guys great videos whats your take on aussie lockers
+Allan Wagner Does the trick. Bit of gettin' used to keeping off the gas round corners, but that comes with any auto-locker.
and they're noisy as all hell.
You'd think somethings broken in there, but thats just how they work.
All and all, good in our books.
How many pounds is that BFH you guys used to knock out the TRE's? That thing looked mean!
+pra3t0rian Oh Man,
Best investment! It's a 4 lb. sledge with a short handle thats reinforced by 6 spring steel rods.
The thing makes Thor blush.
lol I never realized how funny you guys were until this video! Really really funny! (Meant as a compliment)
Does it make for the right hand drive one's?
Have you guys uploaded your video for the sway bar end link relocators from JCR?
Not yet.
Got sidetracked.
I Could use that video. Want to do the same thing. Got the parts. Just need the tapered reamer. I guess a bit of welding is required for the sway bar connects?
1 inch 7 degree reamer??
Hey guys I was curious. Can you run a steering stabilizer with that set up?
Bill Moser you can but you have to buy the bracket, I paid $50 for it, but its not necessary.
Bill Moser Ducks101fan summed it up.
But you will need it if you do what so many people do when they try to get a better pinion angle, adjust your caster angle in to the negative.
Stay smart.
Friends don't let friends drive Negative Caster.
Farts always make a shitty job fun lol
you guys drink them beers so good, I ain't even a pbr fan but damn!
Haha
Cheers!
What size reamer bit was used?
PBR guys ehh nasty stuff I.P.A.!!!!!!!
What track bar are you using?
hey, when you are using a tapered reamer you should run it much slower than you have shown in the video them things are very expensive. they should only be powered by hand.
They are expensive. The key is to know how to sharpen them as well, but ain't nobody got time for turning reamers by hand.....
Are you running a CV shaft on the passenger side and u joint on driver side?
got the Jeep that way....
Great channel guys! Have you needed to reinforce the coil buckets on the axle? or is it unnecessary?
+Carlos Miranda
don't see a need for it unless you plan on jumping it.
but in that case, coil buckets are not your biggest worry.
Rip...💨. 'Bout pissed myself when I heard that.
What about the stabilizer bracket? When I got my jeep it had 1 ton steering already on it with heim joints! But no brackets for sway bars or the steering stabilizer. How would n I do the bracket for the stabilizer?

UTK is the short answer.
PM me if you need more info.
I can't wait till your next upload. Do you guys have a schedule your working on or is it an as new parts come in kind of thing?
Steve O'Brien It's more about when we have the time to make an episode.....
Things have been pretty crazy this summer, but we are working to put more stuff out there.
We try to focus on quality over quantity. Thanks for your patience.....
We do have a bunch of stuff coming up.
you had at PBR
so do you not need a steering stabilizer when doing this upgrade.
No you don't.
They look pretty, but not that necessary.
Cuts sway bar mounts right off lol
so how about that video on sway bar end link relocators?
+Anthony Baker
Working on that soon.
Cool!
Hey what happens to the sway bar mourn up that would be cool to see
Working on that one soon. Been stacked with stuff
Cool was doing the over the knuckle steering on my ZJ and was seeing a good way to do my sway bar mounts
Hopefully we get that out in time....
bumpsteer for days
not at all actually.
Are you talking about drag link and trac bar being off?
Hey! just curious, what is the install time like on this thing? Also what are your thoughts after driving around on it for awhile?
Couple of hours, give or take.
I love it. feels solid.
Badass soulfly shirt
Handicorn strikes again...
You should totally include a fart outtake in every video.
how's the otk steer respond for daily driving. been thinking of doing the same mod.
+Jarod Martin
It's great. Bump steer is gone.
how bout a video on locking diff install
+Allan Wagner got a few other things coming first, but we'll get there...
Where did ya get that drill from that you use to drill the taper??
Bought it from the local auto parts/ tool shop
Thanks, never seen one before!!
YEAH! REAM THAT PITTMAN ARM! REAM IT!
+Crossthreaded
Mmmmm,
Right in the tapered hole..
Would this help with the wobble?
Only if your old linkage had wiggly bits.
Best to look elsewhere. Our next episode will probably help more...
+Pabst Boys Roadhouse OK thanks
Any bump steer issues with new angles ?
I guarantee it. The trac bar and drag link actually cross. I believe the relocated the trac bar in a later video.
Did you lose any steering radius? I installed it now have worse turning radius than my pick up truck. Had it at 2 different offroad shops and I Called them up with pictures of the set up and they said they don't know why
No loss. Still travels the full arc of the steering box without hitting anything else
Tzorb one thing that may affect your steeringradius is the fact you have changed your ackerman angle by a bit..
