I was trying to get help from Microsoft about the differences between EOP and Defender for M365 with no luck but this video cleared out a lot of things for me. Thank you, Jonathan! I'll follow the series to learn some more.
Amazing video, I really love your way of explaining the topics.Question. If I want to block a sender in my organization, which method should I use, editing my Anti-Spam policy (allowed and blocked senders and domains), or using the Tenant Allow/Block list in the rules?
Jo exceptional video-your insightful content and meticulous presentation truly set a high standard. Looking forward to more enriching content from your channel!
We don't like users releasing their own emails from quarantine or their emails going into junk mail. We perform a quarantine sweep twice a day and if there is something a user wants released, we let them send a request to have it released.
hi awesome content,... really loved it a lot. i noticed at 15:50 the domain impersonation name has been added but the checkbox is not on... will it work the same way... please let me know
Jonathan, have you ever done a comparison of the windows defender that comes with windows as standard vs the defender that comes as part of office premium. Essentially on detection and protection are they identical and then its just down to how easy / simple it is to manage or at a fundamental level of a computer vs a virus, is the office premium version more secure?
I haven’t done a video, but there are lots of differences…. The one that comes with Premium has so many security features and is built for business. Maybe a video would be a good idea!
So here’s a question: say you create your custom anti-phishing and anti-spam policies, what then becomes of the default anti-phishing and anti-spam policies? Does the custom at 0 weighted priority overrule the priority low default policies? I don’t see a way to turn off the default policies so that the custom policies don’t conflict with the default policies.
Nice video as usual. One issue I am facing is that I am unable to configure any of the actions to be taken when user impersonation is detected. In the video you have active drop down boxes. In my tenant, all those drop down boxes are greyed out and have the message "Automatice - System-controlled. Don't apply any action". No way to change them. Is this a licensing issue? We are using Business Premium.
Since we are talking about tenant based policies which apply to all users , I believe that all these features (only for defender for office plan 1) will be unlocked if you just apply one license and assign it to a random user. Am I wrong?
Hi @Jonathan Edwards, Thanks for making this video. It was very helpful, and I learnt a lot. Thanks again. Would like to learn more about M365 Defender MDO, MDE, MDI and MDApps.
There a lot more options here for Standard and Strict settings than in my M365 Defender. What license has been added? And does the license need to be bought "once" for all users (about 30) or individually for each user? We only have Business Standard licenses on all users today.
Thank you Jonathan for helping newbies to MS Hell !))) After the settings were made, users began to receive for each new letter that “This sender ... is from outside your organization.” and all these letters are marked as External. Moreover, first there was a button to block the sender, then manage sender. There is no Allow button. And it’s completely unclear how to disable this for each letter or configure it. Does anyone know how to disable this or at least set it up?! Thank you in advance!
@@bearded365guy It was actually brilliant. We are moving our clients off our 3rd party solution and for those on MS 365 BP this makes more sense for us and for them. The MS documentation and explanation is pretty average but your video was probably the best 30min I spent today!
So would every user have to have Business Premium or the addon Defender Plan 1 for the policies to work for that users mailbox? Like I could not get the Premium or E5 on one admin account and setup those policies to work for users with a Business Standard license right?
Dear, In my organisation. i am using office 365 E5 and E3. as i know E5 coming with MS Defender but not with E3. in this case how defender will protect both E5 and E3. Appreciate your reply.
We just purchased Defender for Office365 and assigned it to users. And what did have Safe links and Attachments which has Premium next to it are now gone. Am I missing something or is this just another game of waiting with Microsoft.
May I know if there are any benefits for a regular user that has no admin roles to have Defender for Office 365 Plan 2? or the Plan1 is already enough for them?
Same question. As an independent person, working from home, having Microsoft 365 yet not affiliated with any business, how does Defender help me. At present I am using McAfee it came with the new PC, there is Symantec, and the like as well. In the attempt to try out Defender I uninstalled McAfee, then Defender takes over. The one issue is within Defender I could not schedule auto scans for a particular time, I tried Task Scheduler which sometimes worked most times did not, and it was very convoluted. Within McAfee's app one can easily auto schedule scans, they performed 100% of the time. Again, what benefit is Defender for individuals?
Can anyone clarify this for me please? what if the organisation has users with E3 license and part of users with Defender for O365 Plan 1 license, will safe attachment, safe link, Built protection applies to those E3 users?
The best MS Defender setup tutorial with a lot of extra knowledge by Jonathan!! thank you for sharing Sir!!

Great video and very essential informations about the policies. You saved me so much headache. Thank you.

If you want to block for everyone, use the Tenant Allow/Block
Fantastic video and more wonderful background music 😁

Thank you for your amazing videos. Do you have any videos on Google Workspace phishing, spam and malware policy setup and configuration?

Thanks for the video...does this require any additional specific licensing? Or what licensing does it require?
Defender for 365 is available as a stand-alone license or part of Business Premium
Great guidance, thank you! Are you planning on doing something similar for DLP policies?

Hello, complement on the great videos. Short question please, does anybody know if MDO policies also work with incoming PGP encrypted emails?
Very well explained with the demo !
Great Video
Thank you, well done!

We are currently using Barracuda Email Security, I wonder what I need to do if we switch to Defender for Office 365?
Configure Defender for Office 365 and switch the MX records….

Fantastic video. Thank you. But please get rid of the music. It’s incredibly annoying.
I would like to have a more automated notification when a admin makes a change to any of those types of configurations.
Damn you should take care of your look man, especially when you stick your head into camera like that. Crazy
Thank you !!
