But hey, when you can bring 5 for every one venator that's not so much of an issue
All ships in star wars have there purpose and I love that sometimes it is done brilliantly like the senator class star destroyer and some awfully like the tie fighter
Wouldve been interesting to see how many munificent it would take to take on one ISD. After all they traveled in packs while an ISD usually travels alone.
Jamie Walsh hell no. The Recusant class has these exact same qualities, except it’s a destroyer. That’s not even mentioning the brilliant Lucrehulk and Providences
Keith Marshall The advantage of Vulture droids are fully their automation. Smallest starfighters possible, capable of the most extreme maneuvers possible. This is what makes them so deadly in combat. An arc is good and all but needs coordination, and the pilots are still human. The Vulture is not the pilot of the fighter, he IS the fighter, which also makes him deadlier. Even so they probably became outdated after the clone wars due to fighters reaching it’s quality
A Munificent had more guns then a Venator, but had less fighters then one. The CIS navy mass produced it's ships. A munificent had deadly heavy turbolasers at the front of the ship, which could really damage a ship. If the Venator were to send it's fighters at the Munificent, the Munificent had about 38 point defense guns, 12 flak guns, and 40 fighters to deal with them, along with Dwarf Spider Droids they could possibly use as extra guns, but this still wouldn't be enough for like, 192 V-Wings. My point is, a Venator is a capital ship, but still doesn't have a lot of weapons (8 heavy turbolaser turrets and 2 medium turbolaser turrets). The Munificent is not a full on capital ship, but has the weapons to seem like one. The Venator was a carrier, like a Lucrehulk, which is why it was a capital ship. The Munificent has lot's of weapons, but not many fighters.
Honestly If I were rich and wanted to become a pirate I would buy a Munificent class frigate and attach a 0.6 class hyper drive on it. It is an amazing balanced ship that looks awsome.
dark fish the destroyer There was still a Organic life crew on most munificent sand seperatist vessels so there would still be a decent crew quarters, commissary and mess hall just not a large one, and If I were rich in Star Wars I would definitely use some BX commando droids to fill in the empty crew spots.
Nice video, have you guys done one about what happened to the separatist military after it was shut down... did the empire destroy it or did it keep them in reserve for something?
I think they did a video one time about a lucrehulk carrier being used in a failed attack on the first death star, but from what I can recall for everything I've seen or read is that most of the droid ships were scrapped or put in junkyard, while some were secured by rebels or pirates, with a few ending up with the Rebel Alliance. The Empire was rather aggressive about hunting down any large groups of droid ships or units reactivated though. Hope it helps.
Wait, didn't the Vulture droid fighters have a unique fuel system that used solid-fuel concentrate slugs to provide propulsion, not running off an battery? Otherwise, great vid :).
Still my favorite space engineers build. Though i really dont play anymore due to the CPU limitations on console. Took up less cpu than my own hydrogen mushroom ship build though. Left a little room for a couple fighters at least.
This is by far my favorite ship in Star Wars, I kind of wonder if they ever made any unique munificent ships like they did the providence and lucrehulk.

also a way better system of government, since a confederate state essentially is a state where the individual states, in this case planets have a high degree of autonomy, in this case they would have given militairy command to a central authority, along with some other matters, yet keeping everything else within their own systems the republic was noted to be a bureacratic mess

While sertanly looked intimidating was very imartical made to look intimidating but had little to no use of star fighter defendable or offensively in its doctrine witch is why the mutch smaller rebuill navy with mutch smaller numbers out of bate fighters and plots with little trained pilots ran cycles around them and they would have be absolutely obliterated by the confederacy fighter carried bast navay
Ya but the ty intersepter where still crap. It was mad very clear that only a handful of fighters could easily take out an extreme expensive star destroyer. And that’s not even taking the malabisens witch could take out multiple ones with eas the eaqualt large confederate fleet and its state less war strategy would need only a fraction of the size fleet to obliterate them given there havey unites star fighter and bomber doctrine
@Keith Marshall i agree with you. The empire had the best navy. They had more ships than crew. They also had the fastest fighters in star wars history. They only reason they lost is because A. Plot B. Emperor Nutsack underestimated luke and the resistance.
I really think that CIS ships are kind of misclassified. The only reason that I can think as to why you’d classify the ships the way they are is because of the automated systems
I think the munificent is one of the best frontline ships of any navy in all of star wars for Its role. It seems like many of the other frontline ships of other navies like the venetor and imperial seems to often be very missused
It's really surprising that a _800 metre long Frigate_ is more powerful and completely outclasses a _200 metre long Frigate._ It's almost like they are two totally different ship classes that for some stupid reason have been given the same designation. Now if you don't mind, I'm just going to compare two different Star Destroyers - A _Imperial 1_ and a _Super Star…_ They're both _Star Destroyers._ It's not like ones a Dreadnaught and ones a standard battleship.
Munificent originally was merchant escort ship with firepower comparable to standard Frigate. During the war they were reequipped becoming basically proper cruisers, tough in my opinion they still were vastly underpowered comparing to similar proper warship like Victory Star Destroyer. Speaking of which is more fitting comparison to ISD. "It's not like ones a Dreadnaught and ones a standard battleship" You are aware that Dreadnoughts actually ARE standard battleships? Aren't you?
TheRezro in the world world, big guy. Please don’t tell me you’re trying to compare British battleship design prior to WWI to imperial ship types that are orders of magnitude different?
Okay let’s compare it to the Arquitance class light cruiser. The munificent would still destroy it. Munificent is probably the best Star Wars frigate when fully kitted out and crewed.
yea the clone wars had the most interesting ships next to the old republic because since both the republic and cis had ships that uniquely worked so well together like have ships that could bring in tanks or how they could have the thickest if hulls because they need no food or sleep quarters
i am surprised so much praise was given, even if deserved, by this channel to a ship designed by xenos. Do you have something you want to say Generation Tech?
If Thrawn were in control of the CIS along with Grevious then the Republic would not have stood a chance. Thrawn was an expert at blockades and counter assaults whereas grievous (Correct me if I am wrong) Was more of a frontal assault expert. Both of these guys in the same Faction would be terrifying.
Say what you will about the Munificent Frigate but you get the most bang for your buck. Small crew requirements + a lot of guns means a lot especially to pirates, holdouts, and rebels.
I freaking love/hate the design of the separatists ships. They look so intimidating and awesome, but at the same time super inhuman and droid like...which makes sense
I think original variant was basically lightly armed merchant escort. But after war started they were reequipped in way heavier weapons. So yes, functionally they were cruisers.
A lot of times they just call it whatever they think sounds cool without giving much thought to the actual role the vehicle plays. The EU, both Legends and I think Disney canon brought in the Anaxis war college to try to standardize the actual classification, but that's only based on length which is a slightly less stupid way to categorize ship, but still stupid and lazy overall. But ya, in the roles it's used it's probably a cruiser, or an oversized destroyer given that it seems to often be used to screen the heavier ships when they're available.
Its called a frigate but how can the munificent be in the same category as a ship that is almost 4 times smaller than it? If it is a frigate then I feel like the ships it was compared with are more like screening, picket or scouting ships. Though its much newer, something in a similar size to compare with would have been a victory which i would also class as a frigate.
I wonder if there is a special blaster that shoots blaster bolts through hyperspace. Imagine being able to shoot and the bullet just materializes right in front of the target so they can’t dodge it or use shields.
hyperspace missiles, often suggested by fans, but honestly the closes they could get would be light or ehavy fighters entering hyperspace at enemy ships(really effective tho)
Meanwhile, in pretty much EVERY Empire At War mod that features the Munificent class: "This ship is crap never build them". Seriously, it's disgusting how people treat this ship.
In Republic at war I like to spam these against venators and it surprisingly works. A 1v1 wouldn't end well for the munificent but 2 or more and you got a winner
probably because in order to keep it fair they had to inflate the cost, the munificent actually costs 1/5 of the cost of a venator, meaning that actually allowing you to build it at the real cost would break the game
Comparing the Munificent to other frigates makes it clear the "Star Frigate" is no more a frigate than the "Star Destroyer" is a destroyer. Much larger and doesn't play the role of a frigate, rather that of a battleship or other ship of the line. Still, a good design. Personally prefer the Venator but this is probably my second favourite clone wars era ship. Also, this is the second time I tried to post this comment. RUclips ate the first.
The skeletal structure was horrendous. It came at the cost of armour. I know they could easily field hundreds of these things and the droids were the main crew. But these things got torn apart by light turbolaser fire. And their shields cost a lot of power to use consistently. These were annihilated by basically anything else.
A few separatists leader ignored the shutdown order, but with the confederacy dissolved and communications cut with other separatist cells they couldn’t do much with the droids they had.
Another good one even though its an Assault Ship is the Acclamator. Dont understimate it. It can put a bit of a fight with other not so powerful ships.
The rebels used a bunch of clone wars ships, why did they never end up with any separatist ships, or use drones. Low man power options would seem ideal for them. What happened to all the separatist ships, production, ect. Separatist remnants?
If you think about it, its the ship equivalent of the T-34, designed specifically to be bare bones and tiny in space that it can be easily upgraded and mass produced to do so much more than it would let on. Also shades of the a6 zero fighter
So, basically, it's a ship of the line run by droids. (During the Napoleonic era, battleships were effectively just retrofited merchant vessels. You see, to withstand the harsh storms common in the Atlantic and Indian oceans, merchants kept or reinforcing their vessels with more and thicker oaken planks and beams. By the Time people started using Cannon's on ship's , the vessels were so sturdy all you really had to do was cut out some holes to point the guns out of, and you've got a fully functional warship)
No. Napoleonic era warships were purpose built for war. And even the earlier Age of Discovery warships that were also used in the role of merchant vessels were in fact built for battle.

@@shinystarmiestudios4179 It's pretty easy to see it's not really a frigate in the 3rd movie and the cartoons when they are actually alongside Republic cruisers. The only downside I saw to them would have to be their glass cannon like nature and the huge drop in fire power if they can't bring to bear their bow super turbos.
But hey, when you can bring 5 for every one venator that's not so much of an issue
I love the look of the Munificent class, when I first started reading Dune these are what I pictured Spacing Guild High-Liners to look like.
It is one of my favorite ships of the series, good to see it getting some love
One of my all time favorite ship designs.
I'd love to see gen tech design a dreadnought like the Executor or Eclipse
All ships in star wars have there purpose and I love that sometimes it is done brilliantly like the senator class star destroyer and some awfully like the tie fighter
Wait, there's a senator class star destroyer?
@@sphee4149 lol meany to say venator
@@patrick_fahy if a senator class star destroyer does exist, it would've been Palpatines flagship
Last time I was this early, Darth Vader still lived on a sand planet.
5:49 yeah you got it right right there. the munificent class "frigate" really was a cruiser and also mostly was used as a cruiser.
Yeah in the traditional Light Cruiser role of heavy scout, picket and raider.
Wouldve been interesting to see how many munificent it would take to take on one ISD. After all they traveled in packs while an ISD usually travels alone.
Many say the Separatist's had the better navy than the Republic. So I guess it owes all to this ship
Imagine a fleet of these with some rouge Jedi and smugglers doing hit and run attacks against the Empire
Would be a good story for fallen order 2
Honestly If I were rich and wanted to become a pirate I would buy a Munificent class frigate and attach a 0.6 class hyper drive on it. It is an amazing balanced ship that looks awsome.
whelp good luck with finding a crew, the rest of the hull asides from the bridge and a few other parts are uninhabitable
dark fish the destroyer There was still a Organic life crew on most munificent sand seperatist vessels so there would still be a decent crew quarters, commissary and mess hall just not a large one, and If I were rich in Star Wars I would definitely use some BX commando droids to fill in the empty crew spots.
You stay SAFE out there as well, and stay AWESOME.
Love the content, Generation Tech! Great work as always!
Keep up the good work the empire will reward u
Wait, didn't the Vulture droid fighters have a unique fuel system that used solid-fuel concentrate slugs to provide propulsion, not running off an battery? Otherwise, great vid :).
Yes
I fall in love with this ship in the second I first saw it
Still my favorite space engineers build. Though i really dont play anymore due to the CPU limitations on console. Took up less cpu than my own hydrogen mushroom ship build though. Left a little room for a couple fighters at least.
This is by far my favorite ship in Star Wars, I kind of wonder if they ever made any unique munificent ships like they did the providence and lucrehulk.
no need. this thing is already a beast, so just build another one and boom, instant death machine
@@persuisixh4804 maybe improve the armor and add heavier weapons and maybe a hanger then the munificent would be a higher effective frigate.
@@Gaster_021 thankfully instead of doing all that we can just build 4 more. while one couldnt take on a venator, you could literally buy 5 of them and staff them all for the same price as one venator. so no need
@@persuisixh4804 that’s true, probably wouldn’t need to keep replacing them if they were a little more durable or armed wouldn’t it?
@@Gaster_021 nope. the reason they didnt was for this very reason. it was literally more efficient to just build more. keep in mind also that they had other capitol ships to bring the hurt or last longer, but this one absolutely shredded for its cost, no questions asked
why you censor generation tech?
Idcrafter: cause they’re actually Generation Flesh, they’re all meatbags, not a single android or cyborg in their crew.. What’s “tech” about meatnecks..? (They censored it, because they knew people would question it..😂)
R0T-N2 D-C0R4 i smell a clanka
@Victor Nikolai 2nd. Us vampires are first
The confederates had the best navay
also a way better system of government, since a confederate state essentially is a state where the individual states, in this case planets have a high degree of autonomy,
in this case they would have given militairy command to a central authority, along with some other matters, yet keeping everything else within their own systems
the republic was noted to be a bureacratic mess
The empire had I terrible navavy that.
@@brooklynbryant677 C. Will of the force
I really think that CIS ships are kind of misclassified. The only reason that I can think as to why you’d classify the ships the way they are is because of the automated systems
The engine sound of it😍😍
I think the munificent is one of the best frontline ships of any navy in all of star wars for Its role. It seems like many of the other frontline ships of other navies like the venetor and imperial seems to often be very missused
It's really surprising that a _800 metre long Frigate_ is more powerful and completely outclasses a _200 metre long Frigate._
It's almost like they are two totally different ship classes that for some stupid reason have been given the same designation.
Now if you don't mind, I'm just going to compare two different Star Destroyers - A _Imperial 1_ and a _Super Star…_
They're both _Star Destroyers._
It's not like ones a Dreadnaught and ones a standard battleship.
"It's not like ones a Dreadnaught and ones a standard battleship"
You are aware that Dreadnoughts actually ARE standard battleships?
What's with "gen tech" being beeped?
Wondering the same thing. :/
probably a joke
It stands for Genitals technology
It was Generation Films before
They have another channel called generation films
Honestly, my only gripes with the Munificent is how exposed the bridge is, and how vulnerable it is to flanking fire. Otherwise, the ship is great.
I’d love to see this Frigate return in the spin offs some how.
i am surprised so much praise was given, even if deserved, by this channel to a ship designed by xenos.
No wonder. And why a beep then generation tech at 0:04?😂
Say what you will about the Munificent Frigate but you get the most bang for your buck. Small crew requirements + a lot of guns means a lot especially to pirates, holdouts, and rebels.
The Rebels should have tried to get some of those!
Why was beginning censored?
I freaking love/hate the design of the separatists ships. They look so intimidating and awesome, but at the same time super inhuman and droid like...which makes sense
I wonder what a Space battle with 2 Star Destroyers vs a Municifent and a Venator would look like.
The munificent is my fav CIS ships
Also though it is called a frigate I see no reason for it not to be categorised as a cruiseer
I think original variant was basically lightly armed merchant escort. But after war started they were reequipped in way heavier weapons. So yes, functionally they were cruisers.
@@TheRezro I agree with you though the original varient was only created in the first place to fend off pirates and enforce people to pay taxes
@@AdmiralBlackstar It is the same in the real world so I can definently forgive star wars for doing that.
@@TheRezro and the worst part is that you could buy 4-5 of these for one venator
Why does the bridge of the Munificent Class ship behind him look like an angry Bender from Futurama mashed with the Planet Express?
Meanwhile, in pretty much EVERY Empire At War mod that features the Munificent class:
"This ship is crap never build them".
@@persuisixh4804
Problem is they go too far in the opposite direction.
Ah my favorite Prequel Ship finally getting the Praise it deserves
Really Good! I think it should have been made SMALLER , Though . But I think over all a Pretty Cool Design !
Could you do a video like this on the lucrehulk? I dont know if its the best or flawed so either works
Personally my favourite is the ventator star destroyer or or mc80\90 cruiser
I'm going to point out that the Munificent is a frigate in name only. It's actually classified as a cruiser.
The best thing about the CIS was the cheaper and Better Naval vessels
i love looking at these ships designs
Comparing the Munificent to other frigates makes it clear the "Star Frigate" is no more a frigate than the "Star Destroyer" is a destroyer. Much larger and doesn't play the role of a frigate, rather that of a battleship or other ship of the line.
Still, a good design. Personally prefer the Venator but this is probably my second favourite clone wars era ship.
Also, this is the second time I tried to post this comment. RUclips ate the first.
it seems kind of on equal footing with the venator until you realize that you can buy 5 for one venator. Capitalism at its finest
The skeletal structure was horrendous. It came at the cost of armour. I know they could easily field hundreds of these things and the droids were the main crew. But these things got torn apart by light turbolaser fire. And their shields cost a lot of power to use consistently. These were annihilated by basically anything else.
For its size and cost in universe you really couldn't get much more bang for your buck. They were actually pretty powerful for their size.
Hope we get a 10 best things about the ARC 170.
It is really good but horribly misused scout ship.
@@TheRezro ya been my favorite since revenge of the Sith and we only get to see it getting blown up.
This is a note that while the Munificent is listed as a Frigate, it's big enough to be considered a Heavy Cruiser.
The munificent is the stormtrooper of ships. Amazing on paper but consistently underperforms WHEN IT MATTERS.
I had no idea this ship was this good!
Question: after the the droids all got switched off why didn’t some just turn them back on and carry on the war?
A few separatists leader ignored the shutdown order, but with the confederacy dissolved and communications cut with other separatist cells they couldn’t do much with the droids they had.
they did lol but most got scraped
