- Today's Microsoft Flight Simulator (FS2020) vs real life comparison is a landing at Gatwick Airport in the UK. See how the flight simulator/ MSFS2020 uses bing maps to generate the ground textures and builds as we arrive on runway 26L. I hope you enjoy this wing view/windows seat MFS 2020 vs real life video, thanks for watching!

How the heck?
I believe planes do not fly. How could they?
this game has really taken it to the next level. Instead of comparing it to other games we're comparing it to real life.
this game has been in development in one way or another for decades and has the word "Simulator" firmly placed in its title with every version released. I've always compared Microsoft flight sim to real life, why would you compare a simulator to another game lol.
@@coleomo There isn't even that much of a difference that's the mind blowing idea. Realistic physics, systems and yet astonishing graphics. That's not seen very often in games to public access

unreal... with a bit of fog effect on the sim and some stabilization on the real one you wouldnt be able to tell without close examination
The reflections :S
Need Ray tracing tech
The corrolary, add some sharpie lines to the real engine seams and on a clear day with no turbulence and it'd be hard to tell. It's so close. I hope they dont sell this to dovetail and we end up with $3000 dollars of "dlc" in a year.
The buildings are so fake in FS2020, that needs a lot more then fog to hide it.

I'm just yelling from English-speaking idiots who squeak from supposedly realistic graphics! Are you blind or dumb? It can be seen how unfinished graphics simulator!
1. The forest area is absolutely unrealistic - and since it takes up 90% of visibility, it spoils everything terribly! In real life, we DO NOT see individual trees in the forest - they merge together and create a homogeneous array of leaves. Just a green hat (haze). But to which all the laws of chiaroscuro apply! It has highlights, midtones and shadows! The fools at Microsoft couldn't even do that! Although it is much easier for computer rendering! Less video card and processor resource!
2. Roads without lane markings and also cars are almost invisible on them. The roads seem to be molded from pieces of asphalt, but the roads are not pieces, they are a whole part.
3. There are no LARGE road signs on the roads - we see them as LARGE blue planes. We do not take into account small signs.
4. Water is completely different! In Sim visible ripples on the water! in real life - it is not!
5. As already pointed out here, the lack of aircraft shaking is stupid.
6. We see a huge difference in the 3D model of the engine and its real appearance! Completely different! No highlights in the sim, no rivets, different shape, too thick seams of parts! Some stupid inscriptions "No step"?!?!
7. Completely different fog (clouds). Too uniform in Sime and uneven in real life! Nearby clouds are visible in chunks when flying through them. How the pieces fly by! In Sim - just stupid uniform smoke.
For fools who admire the accuracy of the terrain in the sim! This is a procedural generation based on SATELLITE PHOTOS!!! The merits of designers are NOT here!
It looks so real, I cannot believe how this game has developed within the years. Nice taste of flying while sitting behind a desk.
Man! I miss bumping up the graphics and flying, good times. Landscapes are amazingly accurate now too!
Can't believe Real Life managed to copy Microsoft Flight Simulator
It’s shot with a lower quality camera
Yeah, really! The guy got in an airplane with a turbine that is a pretty close model of the one on the Sim and set in a window that had the same perspective of the perspective chosen by Flight Sim., made the same trip and flew on the side where the view and height match the 'sim approach', where the tower cleared the pilot to land on the runway where the guy making the video was expecting. And all this time holding (probably) a cell phone! This is a master's job!

It's incredible how accurate the game is in terms of the flight experience, because your PC simulates the noise of the turbine! 10/10
It's fascinating to see crop rotation and how it's changed what is in the fields between the game bring developed and the real life version.
That is incredible, I cannot get over how even the farm fields are the same shape in this simulator as they are in real life. Holy cow!
They used satellite and aerial photography to generate the terrain. It's pretty darn impressive for sure.
And if you watch closely the land is alternated in colours because it needs to rest after haverst, so the one next to it is used for production. Gives a nice feeling of realism too, like landing on a different part of the year. I know it's because the sattelite feed took the photos on different moments in time, but still!
@@GranadaFelish Too many people neglect crop rotation these days. You're right it's very important to leave filds fallow and its nice to see agricultural practices represented in the simulator. I couldn't agree more.
That AI did a splendid job.

To be fair, the real life camera has to look through glass.

Crazy that it's actually more aesthetically pleasing and enjoyable to watch the FS version
When the plane touched down, I realised the audio was from the sim.
Yeah why does the touchdown sound like a meteorite impact?
@@101Xander Because there's plenty of simmers who complain about the lack of aural feedback.
default msfs sounds are somewhat irritating especially the airliners. All those roaring fan sounds are gone. There should be soundpacks in near future.

Considering they extract the building from a satellite photo of the roof... and they need to fill in the gaps for a huge area with many thousands of buildings... I think they did pretty well. It will be interesting if their AI gets smart enough to incorporate street view images to get a better idea of the sides of the buildings... Or maybe just hook some cameras up to real airplanes landing at various airports and automate the data conversion from that...
Those buildings are going to happen, real life just didn't get the update yet

Well, if you stop and think that in fs The camera would be fix on the airplane and in the real on a person is holding making the vídeo more shakhy you can pass that, but a little bit more shake in fs would be really Nice for footage.
In real life there wouldn't be a camera it would be your head
Either that or fly on a plane that doesn't move all over the place like that.
Typically when on a plane the landings are just smooth without all that going up and down as we're approaching
I dont know about that camera shake in a video game would be very annoying.

That’s really quite impressive, both the simulator and the flying
Coming from the days of fs4, E6b's to now, is utterly fantastic. Being a real world pilot, and now, having to relegate myself to MSFS, due to age and health is heaven sent. I wish I would' ve had a PC and this software when I went through flight training. I experienced all the growing pains of MSFS, hailed freeware scenery designers and the endless hours of pure joy navigating from point A to point B. Also I must admit to firing up the extra 300 and threading the needle to blow off steam.

The water is absolutely amazing in the sim. Wow!
how do you watch your landing from passenger view? I know you can put passenger view while flying but how do I rewatch my flight on passenger view?
I used the AI to land the plane whilst recording from this view and for the take-off vids I flew from the window view! The AI is very touch and go (sometimes literally) when it comes to landings and take-offs though so this took a few attempts. Thanks for watching!
@@TropicalTech2 that’s cool. Can you tell me what does Al stand for?

When I started playing MS Flight Simulator in 2006 I never thought this would be possible. Simple incredible!!!
What Asobo and Microsoft have created is simply amazing. Best simulator hands down. It's a dream come true for bush flying enthusiasts especially.
@Ean Elijah De Guzman FS2020 has a lot of mods and freeware available already. And new stuff is made available every day.
It is crazy how far games have come, but what is also noticeable is that there still is a lot of room to improve.
It's crazy how the field that are green in the simulator are barren in real. Showing that there's a different season in the simulator where the farmers of the respective fields have alternating crop cycles.
that, or it's old gps data
I think the matrix is really in our future.
or our past, remember it was based on the peak of human civilization, you'd never know
The sim definitely needs more wind buffeting and wheels touch down effect, that is the biggest indicator as to which is real and which is the game. FS2020 looks great but the flight is unnaturally smooth compared to real life.
@Olivares Meneses I understood everything because I'm Italian but deberías hablar en inglés
It would look that smooth in real life, the shake is because the camera is shaking.
You could make the wind stronger and more gusty in the FS...
If the wind conditions matched the real landing then they need more buffeting though ;)
Game needs to make the wing bend like it does irl
@@FreziS The wing does flex in the sim
Room for improvement yet super impressive at the same time 👍
Good lord that's one hell of a good simulator!
Surprised Microsoft’s flight simulator is so detailed, in fact in some bits it’s even more detailed than real life
That doesn't make it closer to reality tho
@The Dragonlord I dont think its the camera. In reality if you get far away from an object it losses detail because of several factors like humidity or air pollution etc
@@thanoskrystall1883 That is accounted for in the simulator as well. The biggest difference I see is the lack of dynamic range in the original video. Simulator is very HDR. 😁
@@thanoskrystall1883 exactly there some unnessecary details in the game, but it is still the best graphics game !!
@@arunkp20 I believe that with a better camera you would indeed see more detail but computer simulation cant recreate reality up to 100%. In the end the game is awesome ofc.

True
Is it not the other way around?
It was the opposite, left is the simulator. There are so many places you can tell. But one example pause it @1:37 the buildings are clearly cartoon looking. Height of technology… hard to guess which part of clip is game and which one is in real, nailed it.
Although you can clearly tell the difference, the fact Asobo managed to get it that close is actually very impressive. There are obvious flaws in the building generation algorithm but as a first attempt this really is impressive stuff.

It's incredible to see just how far processing power (and software) have come in the last decade. If this is vanilla FS2020 then I'm amazed.
Flight Simulator isn't bumpy enough. It's actually pretty amazing how sensitive the plane is since you can see and feel the Pilot subtly jostling the stick around, or whatever you call it.
Well that's what I do, I jostle the stick around.
if you catch a good day, no turbulences, a good pilot and a steady hand, it would be really hard to tell the difference. My shots from landings are way more stable than this one.
It’s not the plane that’s bumpy, it’s the camera.
FS’ camera is attached to the plane, the IRL one is held by hand.
The camera you see on IRL’s in-flight screen is not bumpy either.
