    New sub. I’ve had IBS since I was nine and been on every meds you could imagine. I just brought the book you recommended and I’m starting the elimination phase tomorrow. I really hope this help so much. I’m so tired of the pain and constantly looking 20 months pregnant lol. My stomach is soooo huge with all this gas ughh.

      I'm so so sorry you've had to deal with this from such a young age 😣 I can't imagine what that must have been like. I hope low FODMAP is the answer for you! Do let me know how you get on? Good luck xx

    Hello Carrie! I just found you this week as I struggled through several very unhappy episodes of IBS and discovered FODMAPS. Your website and videos have helped me so much, thank you for sharing your knowledge, experience with the diet and the great "cheat sheets", they will all be very helpful as I try to navigate yet another attempt to find relief. I get particularly miserable in stressful situations which I am learning is not uncommon.
    I'll look forward to your emails in my inbox and your lovely videos.

      Aw thank you for such a kind comment Lynn! I'm really sorry you've had to struggle with IBS, there's such a cruel irony that it gets worse with stress and is actually stress-inducing in itself! I do feel this channel has really helped me be more open in telling people I have it, which has actually made it less stressful in social situations 😌 I'll be looking forward to sharing with you xx

    I can highly recommend winter squashes, like Crown Prince and Hokkaido. As far as I know they are allowed on the low Fodmap diet plus they are super delicious and very nutritious, excellent for soups. As for fruits
    I love black grapes.

    My problem is that I can't figure out how much fruit I can eat in a day or at once. Like for an example for breakfast I'll have oatmeal with blueberries,strawberries,and raspberries. But small portions. So should I just add like only one fruit. Or just don't combine fruits in 1 meal.

      I know! I try to regularly update the download. Since this video I've qualified as a Registered Dietitian and done the Monash training where they explain how they test the foods. I don't really understand how they can get such drastically different results for foods, especially given that most of the research validating the diet as an effective intervention for IBS was based on the older ratings.

    Thank you so much for this informative video! I just found out yesterday I have ibs. I have a question for you - do you recommend or not recommend taking Laxatives for times when going to the toilet is a real struggle? I’m not sure if I take them if that means my body will rely on them. Thanks!

      Natural Calm works for me, it's a magnesium citrate supplement. Also, probiotics (Bio-kult) and fermented non-pasturized sauerkraut. I used to be super constipated until I started to add these into my diet. Probiotics and fermented foods can take your body a little while to get used to and adjust, so keep that in mind.

    How long are you doing your elimination part of the low FODMAP diet? I heard 6 weeks, but I would do 2 if that would work!

    • @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject
      @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject  6 лет назад +1

      Hi Shelly ☺️ I did it for about 5 weeks. People do it for 2-8 weeks, as what really matters is that you get to a good "base level" of symptoms (or hopefully none 🤞🏻) which you can test individual FODMAPs against. So if after 2 weeks you've had no symptoms for 4-7 days, go ahead and get testing. If your tummy is still acting up, give it a bit more time xx

    This was relly informative and useful! I have been looking for foods that are completely fodmaps free and it has been suprisingly challenging... This video was a great help! Thank you ☺️
    At the beginning of the video you mentioned that vegans do not have to worry about disaccharides, because that refers to lactose. There are other disaccharides as well, though, such as maltose and sucrose. I was wondering if you ment that these ones are fine in low fodmaps diet? If so, then do you know why? Does it have something to do with the glucose/fructose ratio? 🤔

    • @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject
      @CarrieGill_TheWildGutProject  6 лет назад +1

      Hey, so glad I could help ☺️ Great question, it is just lactose which is a fermentable disaccharide. Maltose is made of 2 glucose molecules and it is broken down in the intestines before being easily absorbed into the blood. Sucrose is made of a glucose and a fructose molecule and is also broken down in the intestines. Fructose can be a FODMAP if it's in excess of glucose, but because it's in equal parts in sucrose, it's all good! The fructose is absorbed before it gets a chance to be fermented and cause problems xx
      (I talk about fructose more in these video, although I wish I could have had some animations in there 😅) ruclips.net/video/wb10MtSqv1A/видео.html
