I think we are beyond even needing to test emulators on these really high-end mini PCs, because everything will just run without a problem, like basically guaranteed.
You kinda don't need em anymore. Just assume anything with a 680 and 780m iGPU will run up to the PS3 gen very well. No need to retest it every time when they're the same thing.
amazing and good looking mini. Love companies putting some more effort to do Aesthetic pleasing devices instead of dull black boxes. I miss that creativity a lot from old devices from 90s/80s. Too bad i can't find this easily here in Canada. It would be even better if they added a swivel action to that screen so we could angle it a bit.
Definitely need to start covering Linux support, if only to confirm compatability. Minisforum started locking down their Secureboot settings, making it impossible to run Batocera.
My gaming laptop has the exact same processor. ^^ It's so powerful that I didn't realize that I've been running my games directly into the processor's iGPU until now 😅, and that processor can run older PC games from the last 5-10 years or so with high/ultra settings effortlessly.
I support them I bought one and let me tell you it's awesome. The most expensive one I thought it was going to be more $ but it was on my budget. Cool mini masterpiece, love the aesthetic look
Just a quick one. Is this specced better than a steam deck? I'm not really after portability but was looking at the deck for it's ease of Retro gaming ability. Just after something that can maybe play up to around PS3 era?
I wish minisforum or ayaneo would make a small form factor PC that can accommodate a rtx 4060 low profile. Don't really want to build a small form factor but these pre builds are a touch to weak on GPU
I was a backer but cancelled. I was seduced away from backing the AM01 by the improved specs and the mysterious second screen. It became evident that the second screen was a bit of a 'smokescreen' - it does very little that is genuinely useful and most people who have received theirs have reported issues with it (and overheating too).
Relatives discovered my AYANEO AM02... Granny !: I tried speaking on the intercom. Did ya hear me? Granny 2: Are you silly? That's the aircon and heater control!
Definitely not coolest in temperature :) Cooling system is pure failure, worst seen in any mini pc. High idle cpu temps and SSD have no fan, guys took reference of 2016 mini pc. Also, everyone avoids to open this thing up -_-
It would be nice to see if that subscreen could be made to show marquee art with a frontend like LaunchBox. It would also be nice if you showed performance with Street Fighter 6.
this looks cool but if they could redesign this it would be nice if the sub-screen was either tilted or mounted on front.. then you wont need to walk up to the unit to see it
@@woldemunster9244 tried it with TOTK on yuzu, although it's not magical, but definitely an improvement if you don't have a CPU that can push constant 60. It's basically the same concept as AMD AFMF but it works on emulators as well. There are some ghosting on emulators but native games are pretty solid with locked frames.
Why was the CPU Temp over 70C just sitting at the desktop? just noticed that while you were fiddling around with the controls. My um690S only hits >70 C when benchmarking it (running at 85watt using the universal tuning tool) - EDIT - seems that the CPU didn't go much over the 70F even under load, mostly so maybe not a big deal?
I'm betting the reason is because he's only running these games in short bursts, just long enough to get some footage. There's so little airflow that board is doomed to cook once enough time's passed for the heatsink to be fully saturated.
Wow, what an awesome mini pc!!!! Great review as always! I wonder if you can use it with an iPad as a screen with one cable (usb 4)!! Maybe a video idea ;)
78C CPU temp and 60C GPU temps - are those normal for this form factor? Wonder what the effect will be on durability Looks cool tho, and well executed in terms of design
Im relatively new to pc gaming so this may be a dumb novice question, but it seems like if i set the tdp to anything over 25 my temps go well into the 80s. Isnt that too hot, and am i doing something wrong that is making this happen? At this point with what little i know it feels like i should never touch that AAA preset and stick with the one below it
Is this good for running adobe premiere pro? Love the look and aesthetics of this beauty of a machine. But i mostly would be using it for video editing if it can
It's a cool design. But a few of the features only seem good on paper. The display adds little value in real life. It is a typical gimmick as it isn't really visible in most cases. Also the front lid is pretty useless as well, as I imagine you will always use at least one of the ports in the front so it will always be open and it doesn't look good. Would have looked much nicer and cleaner with the inputs moved to the side or have them all in the back of the unit.
I really dig the design but nope this one is just awful. Almost no clearance so those (I believe intake) fans get no airflow and that touch screen responsiveness is like something from a $20 chinese smartphone from 2012.
I just got mine. First thing I’m noticing is that the gpu can not keep up with any AAA games. This pc will be perfect for any emulation purposes. But AAA games is not something this console does well.
Is that a bug in Horizon benchmark that says it was running on Windows 10 ??? Otherwise, looks cool... too bad there will most likely a Linux version with the software for the small screen and TDP control :(
off topic: I'm not a native speaker, but I keep wondering what kind of accent/dialect this would be: is this an aussie accent, or a southern american one (or something else entirely)?
