That's why Gary cut of Richard from saying it
I just realized how weird this must be for Jester. I'm fairly certain he was already part of the court when King Richard invaded, so he probably has known Isabella for a while. Then Madalena kinda took her place, he started having an affair with the new queen, and then ended up serving his old princess again. Watching this cat fight must have been quite odd.
He was probably brought along by Richard when he conquered Valencia. Given the jester's lack of respect for Valencia in his punch lines, I doubt he's from there.

Sooo, I haven't watched the show, but this is what I could infer from the couple of songs and the trailer I've seen so far: A princess searches for the hero galavant because an evil king has taken over her kingdom. The girlfriend of galavant is kidnapped by said king, so the heros go and try to free her. However, when she is found, she decides to stay queen instead. Then she or someone else somehow gets rid of the king who becomes... good (?), and now Madalena is the evil queen and dictator. Then heros and nad guys fight? Is this kind of correct? Because I must say, I am absolutely in love with the character ark from - female love interest and sidecharacter to - damsel in distress to - cruel and selfish wife of the evil king to - straight up evil queen and main villain herself
This show definitely has a lot of strong character progression. It also considers the 4th wall a bug to be swatted and is incredibly self-aware that it is a show and makes fun of itself for that.

(Like how I thought if they could add singing and drums to Guitar Hero (before Rock Band), Ghost Rider appearing in the MCU, or even Alladin entering Once Upon a Time) Well, when I was watching this show one of the biggest things to pop in my head was "Man, this Lizzie character is like a live action Jasmine." Now I hear they cast the same actress to play Jasmine in Once Upon a Time! Wow.

It's not that I search too much logic in a comedy mucical, but aren't all Issys lines totally irrational? The One True King to UNITE them ALL is likely a threat for current rulers (her family incl.). Madalena did choose to marry Richard over Gal herself - so why would she cry for not having him? and finally, the thing with peasantry - seriously? I mean, Gal isn't royalty either, how about his pedigree? sorry for my english
For the peasantry stuff Isabella is pointing that out because Madalena wants to be Queen (Galavant on the other hand doesn't care). Basically Isabella is saying that she, as a royal by birth, is superior to Madalena who is only considered royalty because of who she married. And since Madalena has a high opinion of herself that difference is most likely quite irritating to her, especially because in those times royal bloodlines were held in high regard. Anyway this also fits the song because they're both talking themselves up while also trying to tear the other down a peg or two at the same time. Which is also why Madalena's immediate retort to Isabella's "getting the guy" is her stating that she had him first. For the One True King bit at this point it's a bluff meant to scare Madalena. Isabella has no idea where the sword is or who the bearer could be, but even if it were true it would have been a lesser evil kind of situation. Especially since Madalena has a competent and well armed army behind her and Isabella has the untrained citizens (and the trained guards as well) of Hortensia armed with kitchen utensils. They likely would have united under the banner of the One True King anyway in order to survive Madalena's attack. Present troubles over possible future woes and all that.
I think the people who designed Evil Queen Cersei's outfits must have watched this, you can see elements of influence in some of her attire to Madalena's.
Trying to call someone a "hoe" as an insult doesn't work so well when the opponent won't view it as an insult. Isabella needs to rethink her insults if she wants to own Madelena
