God love the 80s when Hasbro didn't have brand guidelines and artists could just draw Transformers to resemble whatever they fancied. Lee Sullivan - granite, Dan Reed - waxworks, Robin Smith - the reference sheet he was given
I didn’t get notified about this in any of my feeds and it PISSED me off. I love when you go through these books. The more humam faces, (like Highbrow at 4:28) are just fellas in shiny, boxy hats, and the more human hands with rounded knuckles and such frighten my inner child.
I had a few late 80's annuals that I read a million times. An Action Force one which showed the formation of Cobra Island, A Marvel one with Doc Sampson vs Hulk, Psylocke vs Sabretooth, Ironman vs a transforming helicopter, and Spiderman vs The X-Men, and a Transformers one which included "A Vicious Cycle", the climactic battle between Galvatron and Ultra Magnus, "What's in a name?" Which explains Swoop and Divebomb's rivalry, and text stories covering the origin of the Nebulons and Headmasters. They were all British editions, but I never realised that the Transformers one was composed of "Marvel UK" comics. The annuals may have been gifts from British relatives.. I forget. It was a long time ago! But there was always plenty of Eagle, Dare, Roy of the Rovers etc around when I was a kid growing up in New Zealand.
Ahhh yes....my favourite of the annuals....largely down to that 'All In The MInds Story'. You can't ask for more than Scorponok getting his head ripped off by Highbrow. I recall Highbrow using his damaged gun as a time bomb. Class!
I love these episodes! I wish they could go on forever, but there arent that many annuals. Any chance you could review storylines? Like Target 2006 or Time Wars?
I like the idea of those cut out posters, but I think the “technology” of the books was misused. I think that instead of making them double sided pages, why not make them postcards? Those show up in magazines sometimes as promotions for mail away junk. If I had to make a magazine in today’s day and age, I’d just make like 3 postcards and load ‘em up with Fizzle and Windbreaker or some other loser bots I love!
Even if I wanted to cut out one of those mini-posters, I most certainly wouldn't want to hang one that says "mini-poster" on it. What's that you say? Cut that part off? How much more "mini" am I supposed to go with the damned thing?
Who thought I’d wanna display a poster that says Mini-Poster verbatim on it. That’s such a silly idea to me that someone would ever think that was desirable. That’s without even considering you gotta destroy the book 😂
Great review. I have all but the first Transformers annuals since childhood. They were always a highlight on Christmas Day. Very nice Xaaron custom. Was that one of the custom Actionmasters Toy Fu were selling at TFNATION?
@@TRDQ You say you couldn't decide but I believe you made the right choice. I had a purge a few years ago where I'd try and stick to one figure per character but how do you choose between your children?
Aaaah such nostalgic, kid friendly fun packed into an annual. Like being threatened by a violent dictatorship; that the content in your possession will be incinerated for being insurrectionist propaganda. Lovely.
How was the comic artwork SO BAD compared to the animated show or other super hero comics at the time? And I’m only talking about proper proportions here. Like that SQUAT Optimus Prime or that green villain who’s arm thickness changes from panel to panel. So terrible.
The art in this is shit. Robots gone out the window. It just follows let's make humanoid looking things, teeth, slobber, and all and can then robots. Crap. And for those having a fit about my comments, I'm just trying to be in the spirit of the channel. It's really ok for everyone to think differently. I really do love everything transformers. Just don't tell anyone.

Haha
Idk why I found the way you said “Chubby?!” so funny but it gave me a good laugh
Man that’s wacky. I’d love to see repugnus vs scorponok like metal gear rising
The ending made me spit my coffee out. Bravo!
Terrific, annuals are fun and Optimus without his contacts in is terrifying.
Snaptrap IS incredible, and it's nice of you to speak up for the guy. Often neglected as he is.
These book reviews are still some of the best content on this channel. Anyone who doesn't want to watch them is a spleeny weenie.
Those annuals are just beautiful. The artwork is so reminiscent of the American 80's comic too. Great review of a beautiful book.
My favourite of all the annuals.
So glad you reviewed this one!
Love that custom Galvatron toy and I like these annual videos!

i do love the visual story telling. I DOOOOO GET IT and that was a face that came out of no where and now i want to stir a pot.
Who would have thought that Emirate Xaaron would make a guest appearance at the end? Not me that's for sure.

That's a fun idea!
That "Worthless junk" joke is awesome 🤣🤣🤣🤣
I've heard that this annual was ghost written by Dominik Diamond, the author of Dominik Diamond's Guide to Video Games and How to Survive Them
Surprise ending! Wow!
I absolutely love these videos! Part of a collection I never have even seen here in the States. LOL!
Decepticons may hurt with flames, but these Autobots hurt with words
Since my Action Master Megatron has decided to turn yellow-grey I think a repaint into Xaaron is in order.
That Megatron comic was just him coming to terms with his future Dementia.
I'm not sure where you think you dipped in your amount of reviews. You seem as on track as always!

My wife's favorite thing is that Skalor is canonically stinky

Ok before I watch let’s hope repugnus said the number 3
I am greatly disappointed
Yessss. I had this one. The Megatron V Galvatron story was great. Some of the artwork of them fighting is proper burned into my brain status.
I'm a proud member of the half!

Matt had made them special a year or so ago. I've got the all-yellow version too as I couldn't decide.
@@TRDQ You say you couldn't decide but I believe you made the right choice.

Love the ending
I wonder if I still have this at home…
I've been rereading TFUK for the first time in ages and recently got past this annual. I may have skipped the text pages and just read the comics...
It is the way of things
@@TRDQ It's so many words and really I just want to see robots get smashed up.
Is Blurr doing Naruto running pose at 2:10 !?

Lovely.
Triton had too much cred to live...
Freedom is the right of all Chubby Humans !

Gav, I bought Tonkanator. Why did I do this to myself it’s pretty awful. Doesn’t hold together well, looks ok at best.
Anyways; YAY! More annuals!
Same!
Whoa... Megatron becomes Galvatron in the movie!? Spoiler alert!!!!
Are you going to continue these?
Absolutely!
@@TRDQ Good man 👍
You forgot to say that it was your favourite of the TF annuals... unless of course it's not.
It isn't
@@TRDQ I'm shocked!

If only half of us are going to watch this, I'll watch it twice for you, friendo.....
There ya go friendo, that's twice....
Haha thank you
