If you ever need help remembering the Constructicons, here's a helpful guide: - The front-end loader is the leader, Scrappy - The cement truck is the chemist, Mixmixer -The dump truck is the combined mode's dump truck, Dump Truck -The crane is a jerk, who owes me Five Dollars -The digger is the good lad, Scavenger (No not that Scavenger, the other one) -The bulldozer is the brute, Boner Crush.
Nothing is as metal or as perfectly in character for the dinobots than being locked in a perpetual purgatory murder cycle, fighting till the end, inside they’re own psyches.
Christ! I thought I was the only one who had been traumatised by Joy Meadows ripping her own face off and murdering lovable ol Sludge. Cheers for re-awakening that trauma Gav...oh, and thanks for bringing up Zelda too....she scared the piss outta me!
This reminds me of when I was younger, I used to get nightmares from reading the DK ultimate guide. Had to cover up some pages when I flicked through because some of the covers they highlighted scared the absolute heck out of me. Like Scourge and Cyclonus telling me “you’re next”. Or the panel of Galvatron being ripped apart by that time rift thing and you see his eyeball come out and they have skulls and bones and stuff underneath. YUCK. Great vid again, as usual xx
I’m glad transformers fans all seem to have in common that we had a big book full of lore and artworks to look at for hours! (Mine was Simon Furman’s “the ultimate guide.”)
Victory's my second favourite TF strip, after Fallen Angel, where Galvatron punches a flying saucer out of the sky, and beats up all the pocket money toys while sweetly remembering their names.
Yeayeayea this is my childhood annual, It was a handmedown being that I didn't exist for a number of years after this was printed but still, this was one of the three pillars of knowledge of Transformers at youngest of ages, that Dinobot story was truly iconic for me, oh and that hierarchy was also great
Seem to remember my copy of Victory had the first page missing, and a turn of the page took me straight into Grimlock turning Megs into a duocon. (So much for my childhood innocence). Joy Meadows haunted me for a while as a kid. Thanks for the memories (!) :) Seriously the artwork was epic, and seeing the Dinobots be bad-asses was always excellent. That and the Decepticons being nice in the earlier story!
Oh god I thought the coronation Street mention was a joke and it's not What writer turned around and thought "yeah kids will definitely understand that joke"
Holy sh*tsnacks! I haven’t thought about the metal woman from superman 3 since it scared the snot out of me as a kid. Proper pulled that memory right out of suppression 😂
Could have sworn I had this but nope. Victory must have been reprinted in some Collected Comics or something, and I think it was edited down too. More of these, please!
feels like it's been a year since the last Annual video. because it secretly has been. happy 1986, gavin and repugnus, i sure hope Optimus Prime survives the year
Hmmm, calling him Slug in a story where that definitely isn’t his name. I see what you’re doing ;p Also, State Games is a must-read for any TF fan, regardless if they care about the Marvel continuity or not. A good origin for a non-sympathetic Megs.
While I'm sure I've got the next couple of annuals, I have no idea if I've got this one or not. Like, I know I've read Victory, but it might have been in a collected comics? And I know I've seen the Who's Who pages, but maybe they were reprinted in TFUK? I remember State Games being referred to a lot but I don't think I ever read it, but really, did any of us read the text stories in these when we were 8?
i didn't think anything could top the image of bumblebee fighting a big snake, and to be honest I don't know if anyone has but the art in this book is really good.
Wait.. did you say that your biological father is Optimus Prime!?!? OMG we are brothers! Obviously different mothers but dad did get around if ya know what i mean
Ahem, Dear All, If you would like to see these annuals in more detail, may I take the liberty of recommending that you visit ToysAreRuss on RUclips? It is a small channel, run by a really lovely guy, he has an astonishing collection of Transformers stuff to show you and an in-depth look at the annuals and comics that is shot so you can, if you are inclined to do so, read them or just soak in some of the artwork. Its a nice lowkey aesthetic on there but if you are really passionate about this daft franchise and hobby its worth a visit. In my opinion, you want to be watching Thew, McFeely, ToysAreRuss, Emgo and that wanker Gavin Spence* for your top notch TF content. Love, Me...no please, someone love me, I'm nice. *Love ya really...
An amazing toy. It transforms from a closed book to an *open* book! Mordern transformers have got nothing on this.
"GIVE THEM VICTORY OR GIVE THEM DEATH!"
"I was 4 :("
That slayed me more than Grimlock did Megatron here, Jesus.

that Dinobot story reminds me how much i love their characterization in the Marvel UK comics.

"You think I'm trapped in here with you..? No.."

This is what transformers was all about as a kid. Something I could stare at for days and read over and over
I’m glad transformers fans all seem to have in common that we had a big book full of lore and artworks to look at for hours! (Mine was Simon Furman’s “the ultimate guide.”)
Or for us less fortunate, we'd keep the box the toy came in and poured over the iconic back image on the package.
That Dinobot artwork was indeed made into a poster, which i rediscovered after a house move and is now framed and on my wall :)
Looks like I’m gonna be scouring eBay till I find it now.
I hear you about the woman from Superman that was turned into a robot. That scene was pure nightmare fuel.
Victory's my second favourite TF strip, after Fallen Angel, where Galvatron punches a flying saucer out of the sky, and beats up all the pocket money toys while sweetly remembering their names.
That annual comic about the autobots and decepticons personalities beong swotch must've served an insperation for shattered glass
love how we've got shattered glass without knowing
“I would love that on the side of a van” I was dying!
But in all honesty, I would too.
I’m thinking back tattoo for sure.
@@russellharrell2747 Brillaint! I’ll take one. I did want a Grimlock tattoo at one point but my wife talked me out of it.
Megatron: So you want a piece of me?
Grimlock: No! Me Grimlock want TWO!

Pretty sure i had 1987 so looking forward to that one.

Definitely do more of this! Made me smile :)
Gavin seems like the type of fella id enjoy hanging out with, if i enjoyed hanging out with transformers fans 😘
Same
4:29 That has always been my favourite image from State Games. Also, 5:30 so very true. Right there with you.
First two fears absolutely nailed it. Superman 3 still scares me. I’m 47 years old.
This makes me grateful I never learned to read.
Could have sworn I had this but nope. Victory must have been reprinted in some Collected Comics or something, and I think it was edited down too. More of these, please!

I loved all this review, apart from Zelda from Terrahawks face. I was not ready.
These are just BEAUTIFUL! Thank you for sharing these. Great Review!

That 'Victory' part is some crazy shit 😳🤣🤣🤣
Great video!
Good job Gavin.
I just enjoy Gav indulging in stuff he enjoys. It makes me happy.
The US #75-80 TPB was my first.
I was 5.
Is that a little Achewood I hear there, Dogg?
I am from circumstances

🤣Yeah those women would do it... the Superman 3 one got me...
Did that horror crone predate the pretenders?
I like the threeplay quiz page. Fourplay is better though
6:49 - Gav isn´t contradictory...
7:07 - ... He still isn´t contradictory... Maybe...
Maybe
Do you have a PO box or something?
I do! Or something! Email askrepugnus@gmail.com for info!
To A Power Unknown Optimus Prime is Silver Age Cover Dickish Superman.
Wait.. did you say that your biological father is Optimus Prime!?!? OMG we are brothers! Obviously different mothers but dad did get around if ya know what i mean
Best review yet - if you're into that kind of brown-nosing feedback.....
Oh I absolutely am
FRIENDLESS
Take that, Danny!
