Thing is, Gohan would be much stronger right from the start. If you remember, it was Chichi who didn't want Gohan to be trained. With Bulma on the other hand I can see Goku totally train his son from a young age on.

Gohan would develop far quicker in both body and mind than his counterpart with Chichi as his mother. He’d probably be calculating and fascinated by both the world of fighting and technology. Really if he spent enough time with them, he’d probably becoming a natural fighting genius/tactician like Piccolo or Roshi.
It makes sense. Yamcha would have his girl, Chichi would have her reliable husband and they'd both have someone who's company they actually enjoyed. Bulma likes strong, outgoing men and if she can put up with his royal awesomeness Vegeta, she can put up with goofy, laid back Goku. He'll be on his own training, she'll be on her own inventing and money will no longer be an issue for either couple. Not to mention all the cool stuff Bulma could discover by going along with Goku on his adventures and his adventures would go much more smoothly with her helping him out with her inventions.
Bulma will absolutely support Goku's training. Why? Well look at her and vegeta. He constantly trains and she keeps making stuff for him to train with. Bulma isn't one to stop someone from going after what they want. And why I hate what they done to Chichi.... Injustice I tell you.
When Goku returned as an adult/teen the anime had a very kind of romantized moment with no one recognizing Goku and the Bulma just being floored that Goku had turned out to be "so handsome" the show made it clear Bulma was interested in him at that moment and even kind of hints in the Frieza saga. Had chi chi not been at that tournament there's no doubt that Goku and Bulma would have spurred up some interesting type of relationship and hooked up. They were far more interesting too. Goku was always like this alien that didn't understand manners and it always got under Bulma's skin. And I have watched too many DBZ episodes. Send halp pls.

Even Toriyama editor suggested to pair Goku with Bulma, but Toriyama didn’t like to be so obvious and pair Goku with Chichi. Another fact is that Toriyama hated and forgot about Chichi, the anime with the fillers brought her everytime that’s why he remember her and to punished himself he married Goku and Chichi. If it wasn’t for the fillers of Chichi, Goku would end up single or with Bulma.

Interesting What-if. The Gohan in this timeline will be totally different: Bulma will not nag him to become a scholar as Chichi did with og Gohan. Instead, the boy himself will be driven to become interested in Bulma and his father work as engineer and will be more inclined to it, as his mother and grandfather. At the same time, he will develope some interest in fighting thanks to his father and his mother not really be against it and gohan will grow both battle-savy and a studious kid, like is now in Dragon Ball Super.
I think so far Masako's hit the nail on the head here. I think Goku and Bulma would've been much happier together than Goku and Chi-Chi. Bulma always seemed to have a certain level of understanding of Goku that Chi-Chi never seemed to get and Goku only really married Chi-Chi because he remembered the promise and didn't want to break it. It was really out of obligation that he entered into that relationship more than anything else. Yamcha would've been far better for Chi-Chi and having given up martial arts for baseball sooner Yamcha and Chi-Chi probably wouldn't make much of an appearance in DBZ. They'd probably ask Yamcha for help with the saiyans but with a wife and kid and career and being much further behind on his training he'd probably refuse. I think Bulma would've let Gohan train with Goku though and Gohan probably would've had blue or purple hair like Trunks. When Raditz shows up Gohan would be far stronger and better able to help his father out.

I could see it happening, At the beginning of the RRA arc, Bulma commented that she was looking for a boyfriend that was handsome, loyal, and didn't have a large group of fan girls. Goku at that point had those traits though he was still younger and Bulma tended to hover towards Goku when she needed someone to trust.
Bulma actually had the hots for Goku after Goku returned for the last budokai. She said he had become so handsome. and after Goku and chichi married she thought "i missed my chance" to herself
Here’s a crazy idea for a What If series. What If Chi Chi Was One Of The Z Fighters? It would be a much better use of her character and I think that it would change A LOT of DBZ and Super. And I think Gohan would be better off with Chi Chi not being as strict with him being a bookworm like she does to him in the original. Maybe she could still keep Gohan on his studies, but if she’s still a fighter, she may not be as strict and give Gohan more freedom, kind of like how Bulma treats Gohan in this What If series. And that’s just one thing I think that could change because of this. Like so MasakoX can see!
It's sad that really the only What Ifs I've seen of Chi-Chi being a regular staple in the Z Fighters roster is what if Goku was a female by Masako and What if Broly was sent to Earth instead by Carthu
Oh come on. I've read a couple of DBZ fanfictions before and they're not THAT bad. Some of them are actually quite good. You just need to look for them.
A few recommendations would be: -Break through the limit. A what if Raditz turned good that quickly diverges in to others what it's. -Second Chances. A Bardock in Z fic that's done well. -Dragonball Legends. Bardock changes the fate of the whole future.
NenshouYuuki Don’t forget Bringer of Death, what if Vegeta became the first Super Sayain on namek instead of Goku, and Saviour of Demons, A seemingly insignificant change in the timeline (someone else teaches Goku the IT on Yardrat) results in a whole new future for our favourite frost-demon. The last one expands on what makes Frieza so evil, and also tries to predict what arcosain culture would be like.
BoD and SoD are on my to read list, I just haven't gotten around to them. Another recommendation would be Frigid Future, a Cooler in an alternate future timeline with different androids and a still living Future Gohan. And another would be The Erased Chronicles which is a Gohan/Erasa the diverges drastically from cannon down the line

I'd say yeah. Like Masako said, Bulma knows first hand how naive Goku can be and will actually take time to teach him these things. Chichi came into this expecting a fairy tale romance with her childhood crush even though she didn't really know the first thing about Goku. When she didn't get what she was hoping for I feel like she just kinda gave up.
I LOVE THIS!!! I too started shipping Goku and Bulma after they met Goku again as a teen at the tournament. Reading fanfiction years ago made me like the pairing even more.
This makes more sense than the actual series after all Bulma knew Goku the longest and learned how he is. They've also spent more time together even after Goku married Chi-Chi.
Bulma was there for Goku only in his adventures. They were never really close. Then Chichi came in the picture and he ditched his "Friends" and didn't contact them for 5 years. He chose to be with Chichi.

I have a bleak one for you, but it might end up being a bit dull: What if, after losing to Tien in the World Tournament, Goku went back to grab his 4 star ball instead of Krillin and was killed by Tambourine, leaving Krillin to avenge him? Given how Goku had Nimbus, was more powerful and a bit braver than Krillin, I feel it could be interesting to see where things go had that happened?
I don't think it would have worked. Goku was much stronger than Krillin and, even though he was weakened from his fight with Tien, he was still clearly strong enough to survive being struck by Tambourine. At best, it would have knocked Goku unconscious and the tournament announcer would have sent someone to find Goku's friends and let them know what's up.
BlackCap You might be right. Plus, Goku only lost to Tambourine the first time because he was hungry essentially. Still, it seemed an interesting premise at the time.
Even canonically when Goku fought Tambourine and lost, he didn't die. It's not that far fetched to assume that Tambourine himself would assume that Goku was dead after he knocked him out, especially if he hit him hard enough. It's also reasonable to assume that help could have arrived in time to prevent Goku from being killed in the first place. Goku was able to last a decent amount of time against Tambourine when he fought him the first time. It's reasonable to assume that if Krillin got the same bad feeling about what was happening that Goku did, he'd rush to find Goku and everyone else would probably follow suit.
I played around with the idea of Goku and Bulma hooking up, too, but I always thought Chi-Chi would get the raw end of the deal, but yeah, she actually would be way better off having a husband that treated her right.
The within one year limit was only applicable to Kami's Dragonballs. Dende's don't seem to have any such limitation; as demonstrated by the fact that they were perfectly capable of resurrecting Frieza after 10+ years.
That's what i was gonna say. and if bardock was ressurected. goku would be with him and train. bardock would probaby kill frieza before goku gets to transform. bardock would may just transform faster than him and kill the androids as well as cell. he may just be able to kill buu and be really strong. in beerus period goku becomes the one to be the god as he is the main character and than vegeta and goku train with whis. they both get stronger than bardock and bardock keeps training and protect everyone. after that in the universe 6 tournament he would be one of the characters and may defeat quite a number of them. after that in future trunks' arc he will go with the others and may help nicely and they could end it without zeno's help. after that in the T.O.P arc he would be one of the people to join. he would probably get ssj3 after all the training from the start. he may just train with ssb goku and vegeta or whis and become ssb and defeat black goku hit more faster.in top arc he may just defeat alot of enemies and help alot. That's what i think :P.
Personally I think Bulma would have been a better match for Goku anyway.... By the way Masako I think a voice-over comic version of Goku married Bulma like what you are doing with Raditz turning good would be another awesome project for you.... I'd like to see how you explore the concept of alt-Gohan. Sure, he would have the same name as the Gohan we know now, but being the child of another mother and coming from a different background would make this new son of Goku's a fundamentally different person.
The yamcha masakoX created here is not your average yamcha warrior anymore,.he has to put much more effort than the one you knew. Also things would be very weird between chi chi and puar.
It makes more sense Bulma is a wealthy daughter of an engineer, so Goku does not have to worry about making money, and also Bulma already Knows Goku. Goku and Bulma are way more compatible than Vegeta and Bulma. Also I hate to admit it but in this universe Chi Chi would be more happy if she married a character like Hercule who has money.
It still feels weird in my mind, as I really can't see them together whatsoever, but I do like Yamcha and Chichi actually living a happy life as a family. It makes me happy for them even if it's a what-if.

Yo masako, could goku get a head start on gravity training in the time gap? Living with Bulma would give him access to things like the gravity room. Maybe that may put him ahead of the raditz.
Not really, Gravity training became a thing because Goku trained on Kaio-samas place in 10 times earths gravity. Thats where the idea came from. And since Goku was badly wounded after the Vegeta fight, the earliest e couldve trained in the gravity chamber was on his way to Naemk. Unless Bulmas smarts and love for Goku wouldve affected Gokus smarts. Or i dunno, she keeps Senzu Beans around since Goku gets injured a lot and she knows how important these can be. I think Bulma would also be able to influence Goku a lot more than Chichi does, since Chichi not really cares about Gokus whole fighting thing. Sure she wants him safe, and all, but shes much more inclined in Gohan having an education. Bulma is much more adventurous. So i feel like she'd be prepared. Actually that might be an idea for a what if. What if Goku was healed with a Senzu Bean right after the Vegeta fight.
tehSunBro yeah makes sense but remember their bodies are different than humans. Vegeta was already use to the level of gravity on king kais planet, if goku trained in 10x before raditz shows it'd be a one sided show.
Well the anime stated that begeta had a gravity similar to Kaio-samas place, thats why Gokus training was so effective. He basically got to get on the same level as all the other Saiyans. Yes it would be really powerful. But again. Goku asked Dr Briefs to make the Gravity machine on the Spaceship because he knew how effective Gravity Training was since he expierenced it on Kaio-samas planet. He isn't smart enpugh to think of that himself. And it was never a thing before it was brought up by Kaio-sama, because the Saiyans had this extra Gravity on their home planet. So without Goku dieng to Radditz, gravity trainign wouldn't ever been a thing.

Bardock's power level at the time was around 10,000. The Super Saiyan form multiplies the user's base power level by 50. Basic math concludes that Super Saiyan Bardock would have a power level of 500,000, which is still less than the power level of Frieza in his first form (530,000). In other words, first form Frieza would still be a challenge for Bardock. Not to mention, Frieza could just transform.

Whether or not this version of Gohan has purple hair is entirely dependent on genetics. A *lot* of genetics. Is purple hair a recessive trait in the Dragon Ball universe? Is it completely dominated by the allele for black hair (itself a dominant allele in the real world) or is it a case of incomplete dominance? Furthermore, there's the matter of whether or not the purple hair allele is polygenic, given the similarities between Trunk's hair and that of Dr. Briefs (though that could just be similar taste in hairstyle). There's too many questions to ask from a realistic standpoint.
I'd wager Bulma's genetics in the DBZ universe for hair are quite dominant. Two kids in the anime with Vegeta (a full blooded sayian) and we have Trunks with purple hair, future trunks with blue hair now and Bra with blue hair

You know if you think about it, Vegeta would actually be a king to a kingdom if married with Chi Chi. He might be a cruel king at first but over time with Chi Chi's care he'll soften up. And have a beard on top of that. Probably be more inclined to protect the Earth for his new kingdom.

I love these What if scenarios and this is one of the the best. The questions I would have are; Would Goku have learned gravity training earlier with Bulma, who would be actively looking to help him train? Would Goku participate more in the world martial arts tournaments achieving the same fame as Mr Satan? Taking in consideration how trunks was raised, this Gohan would be more confident in his abilities and know how to doge, but also depending how it is evaluated with Goku vs Raditz would this Gohan be willing or actively want to go with Piccolo to train for the Sayians, and if so would Piccolo have died by Nappa? such a fun what if.

When Goku returned as an adult/teen the anime had a very kind of romantized moment with no one recognizing Goku and the Bulma just being floored that Goku had turned out to be "so handsome" the show made it clear Bulma was interested in him at that moment and even kind of hints in the Frieza saga. Had chi chi not been at that tournament there's no doubt that Goku and Bulma would have spurred up some interesting type of relationship and hooked up. They were far more interesting too. Goku was always like this alien that didn't understand manners and it always got under Bulma's skin. And I have watched too many DBZ episodes. Send halp pls.

Interesting What-if. The Gohan in this timeline will be totally different: Bulma will not nag him to become a scholar as Chichi did with og Gohan. Instead, the boy himself will be driven to become interested in Bulma and his father work as engineer and will be more inclined to it, as his mother and grandfather. At the same time, he will develope some interest in fighting thanks to his father and his mother not really be against it and gohan will grow both battle-savy and a studious kid, like is now in Dragon Ball Super.

I think so far Masako's hit the nail on the head here. I think Goku and Bulma would've been much happier together than Goku and Chi-Chi. Bulma always seemed to have a certain level of understanding of Goku that Chi-Chi never seemed to get and Goku only really married Chi-Chi because he remembered the promise and didn't want to break it. It was really out of obligation that he entered into that relationship more than anything else. Yamcha would've been far better for Chi-Chi and having given up martial arts for baseball sooner Yamcha and Chi-Chi probably wouldn't make much of an appearance in DBZ. They'd probably ask Yamcha for help with the saiyans but with a wife and kid and career and being much further behind on his training he'd probably refuse.
I think Bulma would've let Gohan train with Goku though and Gohan probably would've had blue or purple hair like Trunks. When Raditz shows up Gohan would be far stronger and better able to help his father out.
I think Gohan becomes not only a better fighter, but smarter than he is in the anime because unlike ChiChi, Bulma is a genius.

What If Chi Chi Was One Of The Z Fighters?
It would be a much better use of her character and I think that it would change A LOT of DBZ and Super. And I think Gohan would be better off with Chi Chi not being as strict with him being a bookworm like she does to him in the original. Maybe she could still keep Gohan on his studies, but if she’s still a fighter, she may not be as strict and give Gohan more freedom, kind of like how Bulma treats Gohan in this What If series. And that’s just one thing I think that could change because of this.

Oh come on. I've read a couple of DBZ fanfictions before and they're not THAT bad. Some of them are actually quite good. You just need to look for them.

-Break through the limit. A what if Raditz turned good that quickly diverges in to others what it's.
-Second Chances. A Bardock in Z fic that's done well.
-Dragonball Legends. Bardock changes the fate of the whole future.

The last one expands on what makes Frieza so evil, and also tries to predict what arcosain culture would be like.
BoD and SoD are on my to read list, I just haven't gotten around to them. Another recommendation would be Frigid Future, a Cooler in an alternate future timeline with different androids and a still living Future Gohan. And another would be The Erased Chronicles which is a Gohan/Erasa the diverges drastically from cannon down the line

Chichi came into this expecting a fairy tale romance with her childhood crush even though she didn't really know the first thing about Goku. When she didn't get what she was hoping for I feel like she just kinda gave up.

Bulma was there for Goku only in his adventures. They were never really close. Then Chichi came in the picture and he ditched his "Friends" and didn't contact them for 5 years. He chose to be with Chichi.

What if, after losing to Tien in the World Tournament, Goku went back to grab his 4 star ball instead of Krillin and was killed by Tambourine, leaving Krillin to avenge him? Given how Goku had Nimbus, was more powerful and a bit braver than Krillin, I feel it could be interesting to see where things go had that happened?
I don't think it would have worked. Goku was much stronger than Krillin and, even though he was weakened from his fight with Tien, he was still clearly strong enough to survive being struck by Tambourine. At best, it would have knocked Goku unconscious and the tournament announcer would have sent someone to find Goku's friends and let them know what's up.

Even canonically when Goku fought Tambourine and lost, he didn't die. It's not that far fetched to assume that Tambourine himself would assume that Goku was dead after he knocked him out, especially if he hit him hard enough. It's also reasonable to assume that help could have arrived in time to prevent Goku from being killed in the first place. Goku was able to last a decent amount of time against Tambourine when he fought him the first time. It's reasonable to assume that if Krillin got the same bad feeling about what was happening that Goku did, he'd rush to find Goku and everyone else would probably follow suit.

The within one year limit was only applicable to Kami's Dragonballs. Dende's don't seem to have any such limitation; as demonstrated by the fact that they were perfectly capable of resurrecting Frieza after 10+ years.
That's what i was gonna say. and if bardock was ressurected. goku would be with him and train. bardock would probaby kill frieza before goku gets to transform. bardock would may just transform faster than him and kill the androids as well as cell. he may just be able to kill buu and be really strong. in beerus period goku becomes the one to be the god as he is the main character and than vegeta and goku train with whis. they both get stronger than bardock and bardock keeps training and protect everyone. after that in the universe 6 tournament he would be one of the characters and may defeat quite a number of them. after that in future trunks' arc he will go with the others and may help nicely and they could end it without zeno's help. after that in the T.O.P arc he would be one of the people to join. he would probably get ssj3 after all the training from the start. he may just train with ssb goku and vegeta or whis and become ssb and defeat black goku hit more faster.in top arc he may just defeat alot of enemies and help alot.

Not really, Gravity training became a thing because Goku trained on Kaio-samas place in 10 times earths gravity.
Thats where the idea came from. And since Goku was badly wounded after the Vegeta fight, the earliest e couldve trained in the gravity chamber was on his way to Naemk. Unless Bulmas smarts and love for Goku wouldve affected Gokus smarts. Or i dunno, she keeps Senzu Beans around since Goku gets injured a lot and she knows how important these can be. I think Bulma would also be able to influence Goku a lot more than Chichi does, since Chichi not really cares about Gokus whole fighting thing. Sure she wants him safe, and all, but shes much more inclined in Gohan having an education. Bulma is much more adventurous. So i feel like she'd be prepared.

Well the anime stated that begeta had a gravity similar to Kaio-samas place, thats why Gokus training was so effective. He basically got to get on the same level as all the other Saiyans.
Yes it would be really powerful. But again. Goku asked Dr Briefs to make the Gravity machine on the Spaceship because he knew how effective Gravity Training was since he expierenced it on Kaio-samas planet. He isn't smart enpugh to think of that himself. And it was never a thing before it was brought up by Kaio-sama, because the Saiyans had this extra Gravity on their home planet. So without Goku dieng to Radditz, gravity trainign wouldn't ever been a thing.
Bulma might think it up on her own if Goku runs up against difficulties creating a training regimen that he can go further with.
i actually believe these parings would be drastically better in the long run be cause bulma but could change the dynamic of chapter's yet to come

Also not to mention, Goten would BE Trunks, literally. There is no reason for Bulma to not name her second child Trunks (assuming it's a boy, since it's Goku's family).

Whether or not this version of Gohan has purple hair is entirely dependent on genetics. A *lot* of genetics.
Is purple hair a recessive trait in the Dragon Ball universe? Is it completely dominated by the allele for black hair (itself a dominant allele in the real world) or is it a case of incomplete dominance? Furthermore, there's the matter of whether or not the purple hair allele is polygenic, given the similarities between Trunk's hair and that of Dr. Briefs (though that could just be similar taste in hairstyle). There's too many questions to ask from a realistic standpoint.

I'd wager Bulma's genetics in the DBZ universe for hair are quite dominant. Two kids in the anime with Vegeta (a full blooded sayian) and we have Trunks with purple hair, future trunks with blue hair now and Bra with blue hair

You know if you think about it, Vegeta would actually be a king to a kingdom if married with Chi Chi. He might be a cruel king at first but over time with Chi Chi's care he'll soften up. And have a beard on top of that. Probably be more inclined to protect the Earth for his new kingdom.

N Chi Chi deserves better....she wanted Goku N now she can at least have Discount Goku....she might still have feelings 4 Goku which would fuel the Saiyan rivalry even more....N if Vegeta would be a corrupt king w/ his Queen at his side, he N Goku could still be enemies, fighting 4 the Earth.....they may grow 2 be friends in time....or maybe not....but yeh, Saiyan lives matter, hashtag screw Yamcha.

I love these What if scenarios and this is one of the the best. The questions I would have are; Would Goku have learned gravity training earlier with Bulma, who would be actively looking to help him train? Would Goku participate more in the world martial arts tournaments achieving the same fame as Mr Satan? Taking in consideration how trunks was raised, this Gohan would be more confident in his abilities and know how to doge, but also depending how it is evaluated with Goku vs Raditz would this Gohan be willing or actively want to go with Piccolo to train for the Sayians, and if so would Piccolo have died by Nappa? such a fun what if.
What if freezes kept the Saiyan enslaved, just regularly culling dissent and ambushing strong upstarts ala bardock?
