My dad says everything eventually comes to an end... good or bad things... enjoy all of them... even bad experiences can become positive ones... This has always been my favorite rendition of this song. One of the only recordings I've been able to find of you singing the alternate melody on the first chorus. It sounds so great and it's so different from the studio recording and the way you sang it in other performances. And though I always appreciate a great Morello solo, this rendition with just you on guitar and vocals has somehow always been more delicate and emotional, at least to me. This song has been in my life since '05. I cannot believe it's been 16 years already. I still distinctly recall the first time I heard my good friend blasting this in the journalism room well after midnight, while struggling to stay awake with the other school newspaper editors as we desperately rushed to finish the last edits before the final draft was due for printing at 3 am. The memories it brings back of strange, yet simpler times are more bittersweet with each passing year- now doubly so after your tragic passing. This song is a staple in the soundtrack of my youth, and when I reflect on those times while playing this, it always brings me small moments of stillness, peace, and the special joy that only long since passed memories can evoke. I hope that after everything, you were able to find your peace, as well.
