- This is the ORIGINAL version of this video, which has been copied a LOT, without credit. Sadly, this is the last time Eddie Vedder and Chris Cornell sang this song together live. Recorded during Night Two of the 2014 Bridge School. Great show for a great cause.
I feel so bad for Eddie...can't be easy losing all your friends and being the last Seattle frontman standing.
Chris eckman also, from the walkabouts. They were all friends
There’s many left
zepps88 Mark lanegan? Mark Arm? There’s plenty left, all of them were at least acquainted with each other
Hes really the last figurehead of grunge remaining, it csnt be easy for him to think about
He's the last frontman standing of the big 4, but by far not the last Seattle frontman standing. Triple H, Mudhoney, The Melvins etc.
Eddie's voice roars, Chris's voice soars. Love this. So. Damn. Much.
✋😥🇧🇬
Perfect way of describing it
100% 🖤🖤🖤✌🏻💋
me too.... just awesome
I love how they look at each other while they sing. Friends till the end. This got me all choked up.
Magnitude_ 9_Quake
u should watch them doing this song 20 years ago?
"Brothers" according to Ed.
I cried TRUE friends
They are looking at each other to keep in time vocally...
@@Oh_I_Will They were very close friends. It's the look of love and respect.
I'm here and it's friday, 4/5/2024. Timeless, the song will never grow old. Only us.
RIP Chris Cornell love this, who's listening 1-5-2023? I'm 58 love him he's a legend, Eddie vedder as well, Chris your music lives on.....

08/2024 - I buried friends to this song. He'll be the voice in my soul until they shovel me under.
No one sings like him anymore....
Man, even with studio magic pop singers can't touch these talented live vocals.
This ^
This song would be easy for Geoff Tate, Bruce Dickinson and rob Howford
Knarf Trakiul yeah ok. No one sings like Chris Cornell did
@@knarftrakiul3881 lmao the guys you mentioned aren't pop singers...
Why do you people feel the need to compare artists instead of actually enjoying the songs?
People say cellphones suck for concerts etc. but wouldnt have this without and thank you for this simply amazing
Who says that...anonymous screen names in the comment section...relax Frances
So you saying that we can't find concerts from before the cell phones existed? Let me check
@@sansbudget only concerts where the bands specifically paid for videographers to record them
Thank a billionaire.

Couldn't love these guys more. Anybody born from 1970-1990 was touched by these dudes in some way or another. Endless love for these two.
True. b 1980
I was born in 2006. My mom always listened to pearl jam, audioslave, and nirvana in my early years. i have to thank her for influencing my taste in music and without her i would not have been touched so greatly by their music
I'm a boomer & had Temple of the Dog cassette shortly after its release. I love this song.
Those of us born in the 60's too😢
I'm born in 05 and grew up listening to their CD's which were old then me.
Why is no one mentioning how cool that they gave such awesome seats to people with disabilities? Class act.
That's normal for Bridge School, the whole event is to raise money for them. Probably no one has mentioned it cause it would be stating the obvious.
Was not obvious to me so thank you!!
Look up who the Bridge School Concert benefits. I would honestly think most people watching this video knows who this long time charity concert series benefits.
Honestly, I felt uncomfortable because I don't know if the kids even want to be there in the first place. I can't think of many things worse for people in that condition than being stuck listening to live music you don't like for hours and being helpless to leave.
@@Theomite Oh man... 😆
The amazing thing about Chris Cornell was how he managed to keep his voice all throughout his career without shredding it. He was able to make this incredible wailing, shrieking sound without hurting his chords, and so he sounded phenomenal up until the end
Ugh, his voice changed drastically over the years.
Unfortunately he had to have vocal cord surgery around the time he was in Audioslave and had to change his singing style somewhat.
He kind of shredded it when he was in Audioslave. If you look at most of the live performances from then, he sounds pretty rough. He got it back though around the time Soundgarden reunited.
What? Have you heard him singing Jesus Christ Pose in 2013? Not very good.
Indeed! But died way too young to be compared to the all-time Goats. In his own category! 🤘✌🇺🇸
When you're really raw emotionally and seeing Chris .. hurting like this, but smiling through it...the tears flow. Vedder clearly makes him better in these moments. The love they share is clear and beautiful to see. This moment is forever.
Depression is evil. Fight it however you can.
Hi Bill he didn't kill himself
A bad drug is worse.
Dude do some research about this legend he didnt kill himself cmon geez
Look up pizza gate and child trafficking! He was going to expose a massive global child trafficking ring. He was silenced. So was Chester from Linkin Park.
@@NanoverseProductions dumb just fucking dumb
True story: I was a 34 year old soccer mom with 3 rambunctious boys I had no way to relate to. My middle son loved Pearl Jam and Sound Garden and played the DC's so often I had to replace them. One day I heard this song and I asked him what band had Chris and Eddie in it and he explained Temple of the Dog to me in sarcastic teen boy talk. I said"which guy is the vocalist because I could tell that there were 2 strong singers in this song. I thought Chris sang first and then Eddie. He said "yeah, how'd you know that?" I found my way into my sons' lives, music. The beginning of a decade and a half love affair! Thank you both (Chris I know you can read this!) for the gift.
That's beautiful.
Best story....thanks for sharing
So glad u found the music...teenagers are tough...especially boys. Beautiful story and thanks for sharing. :)
Good God, what a testimonial, same story here..I was stuck in the 70s, love my southern rock(still do), by my kids were listening to something different. All in one night I went from telling them to turn it down to turn it up
He can
I was 19-20 when this came out. I'm 50 now. Still chokes me up in so many ways. Not much more I can say
Have you listened to Chris's daughter Toni sing this? She definitely is blessed by him! ❤
I like at the end how Chris belts out a big note and gets up as if nothing even happened. I'd need resuscitating for sure. My face would be blue. RIP Chris you superstar.
It requires a shit ton of vocal control. You could tell that he and Eddie were focused on not killing their voices like they used to in the past. If I remember correctly, Chris even needed to have four surgeries done on his folds. That kind of belting comes from years of practising a belting technique that only a few people can learn.
He didn’t belt out the high note, though. He skipped it and most of the really high stuff.
All the while sitting calmly
It's so effortless for him as well. What a voice.
Before Eddie Vedder you NEVER heard a Baritone Lead Singer. The fact that he was able to make it work and do it so perfectly was truly groundbreaking. He doesn’t get enough credit.
Jim Morrison?
Elvis has entered the building, along with Sinatra and Morrison, and oh hey look there's Johnny Cash right behind them.
Sorry this is not true. Along with vocalists others have mentioned, Tom Petty, Anthony Kiedis, Axl Rose, and John Lennon are all undeniably baritones, and even debatably Chris Cornell and Kurt Cobain (I think neither of them are baritones, but that's up for debate).
edit: also Phil Anselmo,David Bowie, Iggy Pop, you get the idea.
David coverdale is high baritone
@@motorologist Maybe Axl is a natural baritone, but that didn't get him famous. It was that raspy falsetto he used in practically every GNR song. The one he can barely replicate anymore. Cornell is ABSOLUTELY NOT a baritone. Neither are Kiedis, Cobain, Petty, or Bowie who are bari-tenors (the in-between). The difference is, baritones can comfortably hit the higher end register of bass. If you've never heard them hit that, it's probably not in their tool kit. Then you have people like Johnny Cash who are bass-baritones (people who can hit midrange bass with their high end in the low part of baritone.
True baritone singers are rare in popular music, people who can hit baritone registers are not.
we are all getting old.
and beautiful.
Yes.....But we had good music.
Stacy Lapich fuck I'm only 17
Luckily
I'm still here!!
I can’t stop crying over this. It takes me back to a better time. Thank you Chris and Eddie for an awesome teenage years
Here's to yesterday 🍻
They really had a kindred spirit together.
Walkinginthelight38
Damn right bro... They were actually Neighbors at one point and were best friends for a long time. I think from what I've heard and watched and read that Chris was Eddie's absolute best friend... idk them personally but the way he talks about Chris and the way he spoke to him, and DAMN all that connection they share on stage or even playing some bs together for fun.... it was stronger than what I seen with Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath/Ozzy.... it's really something you only come by once in a great while and man am I glad I was around to witness and see these two bands unfold! LMAO I remember recording them onto tapes from the radio when they play the top whatever 10 late at night or the top 100? With Casey Kasem LMFAO on the weekend..... Soundgarden would be Black Hole Sun and Pearl Jam would be geez a few songs and then when you took the two best damn vocalists and put them together wow this is what you get. Whether it's on the recorded version from the studio or live it's still awesome what you miss getting the visual of Chris and Eddie or Eddie and Chris however you like to put them, you missed getting the visual of seeing those two collaborate together
Live, it's certainly special.
Walkinginthelight38 they were brothers. He’s the reason Eddie got his start
You can tell they wanted to hug and embrace eachother when Chris first sat down. Sweet human beings. Incredible performance & remarkable chemistry.
I was lucky enough to be watching this from the side of stage. Was such a magical night both on and off stage. Cornell was a gentleman and talent to say the least
Luckkkkkkky dog you....😉

I went to Lalapalooza in 1992 when Soundgarden and Pearl Jam both played. They played 2 or 3 Temple of the Dog's tunes. It was truly magical. Saw SG 2 more times and was fortunate to have met Chris, Kim, Matt, and Ben.

Wrap Eddie Vedder in bubble wrap. He's one of the last good 90's singers...
yes and tie his hands behind his back 'cause he's drunk his way into losing his looks, which has my heart bleeding
B C Don’t forget Mark Lanegan
I have never listened to Mark. Not saying hes not good, I'm just not up on his songs...
Not dumb douche rocket. I just know the better of the 90's bands and most of the singers have sadly died.
Destructive decade
Once upon a time 2 legends came together and made a masterpiece. The range in Chris voice and Eddie's powerful voice 👌 just amazing 👏 ty to whoever captured this ❤
There timing with each other is impeccable. It’s like they never left the 1991 recording studio of this song.
Chris Cornell & Eddie Vedder..total Bromance!
Yes that's what it is, nothing perverted it's hard to come by in this time and era.
April 1991. 28...wait, TWENTY EIGHT years ago this album was released. Blew my mind and I had no idea who these rugged voices were or who they were paying tribute to. Year unfolded and we were blessed with BadMotorFinger and Ten. And also Nevermind. What was happening?! Backing up a bit, there was Mother Love Bone. It all made sense. This was a unified front of brothers paying respect to a fallen brother. The Love Child. Don't forget Screaming Trees. Mudhoney. "The Sound".
I'm 51 now and I can proudly remember my youth with memories of etched friendships, revolving angst, yearning for truth.
Sadly, the voices that pioneered are now echoes but immortally preserved in vinyl and the timeless covers that remind our youth of today that it wasn't just cool music, it was music that changed lives.
Growing up I always playfully argued with my parents about listening to 'old music and could never fully understand why they couldn't embrace the new music. Now at 47, I totally understand. I live the past through the music I grew up with. And whilst I can listen to new music it's this kind of music that I always return to, reliving my youth over and over.
I'm 50. Ditto...
@ J.S. fine words man...I'm 42 and it truly made me the person that I am...without some I probably wouldn't even be here...✊
I just discover all the awesome music they made, wish i would have been old enough to see them live or unplugged back in the day
Extremely well put.
Man I can't imagine how bad losing Chris was for Eddie. Hope he has found some comfort.
RIP Chris. My generation lost one of the great voices
The human race lost a great voice
We have lost a few it seems it's sad
At the very least about six awesome voices
We have lost SO MANY fabulous, amazing, uniquely original, never to be duplicated voices. Its heartbreaking. Just heartbreaking. I thank GOD that I got to be alive at the same time as them, to hear them, see them, LOVE THEM. I thank GOD! I really do!
3:23 they are so cute like two friends kids singing in school production for the first time
I still cry every time I hear this one..
I love that Matt's in this shot too. Look how in sync they all are here. It's so sad man. I still can't believe about CC. All I can say is if you know someone who's sad and has bad depression just be nice to that person reach out every now and then. Idk what else to say. We love you, Chris!!! Thank you for all of it!!💙💚🧡💛
I agree. I love how Matt points at Chris at the end. It’s like he’s saying, “You’re the man... the greatest.” Matt... drummer for Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden and Pearl Jam. God, let that sink in.
This video makes me so happy
I know this comment was before everything happened but for me watching this is Bittersweet now
It's July, 2020 and everyone is gone except Eddie. Wish he could piece a couple of musician's together and Eddie would do the rest. If you were a fan of Pearl Jam, you will always remember that voice!! One in a million. NEVER could find another!!
Huh, You do realise that Pearl Jam is still putting out albums with the same line-up from the 90's. The newesy album is fantastic and Pearl Jam with Eddie never stopped making great music.
I still can't believe I was there for this. Everyone took off after Pearl Jam with Neil Young still playing the finale. It was a special moment.
Love how anytime Chris sings off beat or does any change to the melody it works absolutely perfect. Such a great voice... I miss all those lost but never forgotten voices and souls.
RIP Andrew, Kurt, Scott and Chris
I remember being in my 20s just a young punk listening to this song and saying this was something special 20 years ago. Watching this and hearing those vocals bring me back to being that young punk thinking that I would forever see this song. Now I’m closing in on 50 and this song is still just as amazing as it was when I was 24!!!

Im a grown man and rarely cry. I actually teared up watching this video seeing how powerful their friendship was and knowing that Eddy wont experience moments like this with Chris anymore.
Seeing Vedder sing that live and still sound that good is incredible.
Watching this makes me smile & sad at the same time. Is that possible? It's the bond, the friendship, the talent. Chris always paid respect to all he performed with. Such a loss ❤🦘🐨
Gone but not forgotten. Rest easy Mr Cornell! One hell of a concert they must be having in heaven. Taken way too soon as most of the good ones are.
I still come here ❤
I was there for this concert. This was such a great concert. The fact that this was the last time Eddie and Chris would ever perform this song together makes me even more grateful I went to that year's Bridge Benefit Concert.

The sound quality is outstanding.
I wish I had been to this, or any live performances of Chris Cornell. It's sad to have lost him, and I'll never know why he's gone, but it's given me second thoughts to follow the same tragic path which he and Chester followed. But there's got to be a better way to work through depression and take control of your future.
Larry Fulmer If you ever think about something like that, don't do it, talk to somebody. I know how it feels to be depressed. But there's always at least one person who cares, and it's selfish to do that to them. Put them through the same pain you went through to think those thoughts. And if you have no one you will find someone trust me.😊
I cried manly tears watching this. The look they give eachother at the end always gets me choked up.
