I live in the USA, and these aren't available here, and they'd be too expensive! Well, I _FINALLY_ made a Pa-234m generator! I used 2.5 g of uranyl nitrate, 7.5 mL of distilled water (to dissolve it), 17.5 mL of conc. hydrochloric acid (ACS grade, 37.5%), and 25 mL of methyl isobutyl ketone, and carefully added this to a 60 mL leakproof polypropylene bottle, and it works spectacularly! I use the Inspector USB Geiger-Müller counter with the Observer software, and I get about 120 CPM for background from the Pa-234m generator, and about 3500 CPM at about 2 cm. It works great! It has internal and live datalogging, and it has autoaveraging, and when that is activated, it gives an even more precise result! The exponential decay curve is SO smooth and precise! Thank you very much for sharing this video! 👍
You should take the measurement of the background total from the Pa-234m generator itself, before you prime it, not just the background radiation itself. The Pa-234m generator radiation plus the background radiation gives you the correct background total that you should subtract from the measurements that you get from the Pa-234m generator after it is primed.
The cardboard will not reduce your exposure to radiation from the generator. By leaving the generator near the G-M tube, the background count will be increased. Best practise is to remove to several meters distance, or even out of the room.

Can someone provide a decent conclusion to this? Also what would be discussed in this conclusion?
can you do a vid of this with radium? seeya in 30620!
