Measuring the half life of protactinium
This video demonstrates how to measure the half life of protactinium.
I am using a protactinium generator. For more information about how a protactinium generator works, please see these links:

I remember being in a class when this went off (this was filmed in a school field in London) and this was around the time of all of the terrorist attacks being rampant in London. I remember everyone stopped working for 20 minutes because no one was told this was planned. We were so freaked out 😅 it was a cool thing to watch but we could have been warmed at least lol

MR Godfrey just found your video, and it just showed me the starting scene of the video you talk about and I have seen it just can't work, the drip tray/catchers extend below the bottom coils, it is however still inspiring! I found it as I'm making a multiphase/ stacked mini version with 8 x 0.5mm jets around a 10mm disc outlet for each 27mm inductor in the stack, I've only got 00:36 into your video and off I go to watch hoping I learn something. ps. "ballistic kelvin dropper" could be a great way to lower voltage and raise the current, as with above I have small jets with lots of so more current, just like a river, electricity is fun ( and dangerous :) )

You should take the measurement of the background total from the Pa-234m generator itself, before you prime it, not just the background radiation itself. The Pa-234m generator radiation plus the background radiation gives you the correct background total that you should subtract from the measurements that you get from the Pa-234m generator after it is primed.

I live in the USA, and these aren't available here, and they'd be too expensive! Well, I _FINALLY_ made a Pa-234m generator! I used 2.5 g of uranyl nitrate, 7.5 mL of distilled water (to dissolve it), 17.5 mL of conc. hydrochloric acid (ACS grade, 37.5%), and 25 mL of methyl isobutyl ketone, and carefully added this to a 60 mL leakproof polypropylene bottle, and it works spectacularly! I use the Inspector USB Geiger-Müller counter with the Observer software, and I get about 120 CPM for background from the Pa-234m generator, and about 3500 CPM at about 2 cm. It works great! It has internal and live datalogging, and it has autoaveraging, and when that is activated, it gives an even more precise result! The exponential decay curve is SO smooth and precise! Thank you very much for sharing this video! 👍
