I think ambiverts can also be more on each side of the spectrum on different days. So while we are technically "in between" and a mix of both...some days I can be very introverted and not want to stay out too long, and other times I can be that person who doesn't want to go home and can be out until the sun is coming up. But it definitely depends on who I'm with. :)
This was helpful, I Always looked at myself as an introvert because I love to be inside, on the internet over going to the beach or somehing. But there are times when I wanna go and do things as long as I'm not alone doing it. So idk I think I'm an ambivert more on the introvert side. :)

I get what you mean. For me it's like one or the other. Have no issue staying out with friends all day but when I have my space during the evening or have my space for the majority/beggining of the day and have a fun sleep over at my friends. I just NEED my space every so often. For me, if i feel I can't get my own space for a bit then you'll often find me going off to the bathroom/walking out the room a lot... Even if it's for like a few seconds.

I really enjoy hanging out with large groups for a little bit and then I get tired but I still wouldn't mind spending time with just one or two people, as long as I know them well and I can get some rest. Big groups tire me out and eventually small ones do too, but sometimes being with just one person after I've been with a bunch is a big relief/relaxer too

Rachel Michelle You absolutely can! Like Cat said it's a spectrum, you're not necessarily at the one of the ends or in the middle, you can be closer to one of the ends.
You explained what being an ambivert is, perfectly! I never really understood myself and how people couldn't really put their finger on what type of person I am. It gives me so much relief to know their are quite a lot of ambiverts out there! :)
think of it as being more attention to detail, Extroverts think of things as a big picture whilst you (and me as well lol) think of things in a more detailed structure and focus on smaller parts all connecting.

Hey Cat, I think that most of INFJ may feel ambiverts (like I do) because INFJs are considered the most extrovert type of the introverts because we have the Fe that make us worry with other people, especially with our friends; and we also like to share our opinions with others. I kind of think that maybe ambivert describes a person who are internally extroverted, but have social anxiety of some sort. I always considered myself an introvert because I just never go out and have kind of adapted to an introverted lifestyle, but I have a need to be around people. It's like I want to, and I would thrive off others energy, but I'm held back by my intense fears of being judged or doing something embarrassing genes why I need friends around me. Again the fear of being judged comes when adapting based on another person's needs, not acting how they want to, but how they think is socially acceptable. It's a very complicated topic indeed and a rather frustrating one being an ambivert or whatever I am.
I know exactly what you mean! I can sympathize, it is frustrating but I guess we just have to try and find a middle ground and try to find ways to overcome some of the anxiety.
I'm a huge introvert. To me it's not a bad thing I just would rather be by myself than with a huge group of people. I like my space and I enjoy staying inside on the weekends. I do have friends and I do go out eventually but it's just how I like things.

On the topic about drawing attention to yourself, its really kinda why I don't like to raise my hand during classes at school, because if I do, I can start a class debate and that's kinda scary but I'm not afraid to talk to the teacher one on one (if they're a cool teacher or whatever)

I thought (nearly?) nobody is COMPLETELY introverted or extroverted so it's completely normal if you are introverted but like to go out sometimes; or if you're extroverted but you need some alone-time, too. It's rather about what you prefer.

Really interesting video, it makes sense that there is a middle ground between introvert and extrovert. But personally I am an introvert. Every time I test for MBTI I'm always over 90% introvert and yeah social events and speaking with people take a lot of my energy

I didn't know about ambiverts until I watched this video, I still don't know what I am like though. Something between extroversion and introversion sounded exactly like me at first but when you started talking about the signs of being an ambivert I wasn't sure anymore.. I do consider myself having social anxiety tho which I find makes it even harder to put myself into one of those categories bc I feel like I'd be so much more of an extrovert without it... IDEK

yay :) I definitely consider myself an ambivert. I seriously don't mind being the center of attention with a group of friends but when a huge number of people are listening to me I freak out. I also love going out with friends but if it's for too long or the environment is too rowdy and loud I wanna go home.
99% of this video rang true for me, wow!! ayyy i'm an ambivert. best part was identifying with both of the lists of introverted and extroverted qualities, because every time i take the freakin myers-briggs test i'm right on the cusp and i get a different answer every time. the attention thing was also super true - i looove being in the center of attention with small groups of people that i know really well. yeah! great video.

I think most humans are ambiverts if we follow the bell-curve that human traits usually align to. Its more rare to find people on the extreme ends of the spectrum of being either introverted or extroverted. Good video highlighting the broad 5 categories of being an ambivert. I believe even within being an ambivert there are layers to explore.
I'm definitely an ambivert I love spending time with people, but after a few hours or so I get anxious and want to hide in my bed. This helped a lot :))

This spoke to me so much. I honestly would be an extrovert if i didn't have anxiety but I do. And I wouldn't say I'm 100% an introvert because like you said if I'm with my friends and we meet new people or do something I'm completely comfortable with it. i love this video! many of my friends say I am an extrovert which in most cases I am especially with my friends, however, I do get an amount of anxiety when meeting people and sometimes I do go into my shell but because I am an extrovert most of the time they think I am being moody and grumpy but sometimes I just want to keep to myself! This video has been so helpful as I never understood why sometimes I could be loud and bubbly but other times I am not! Thank you Cat! p.s. Up until a few months ago I thought I was just an introvert but then I came across ambivert and I definitely identify with it! I'm glad I found out about it, it's so much more me.
I've known I was an ambivert for a while but I've always worded it as "somewhere in the middle of the spectrum (of introvert and extrovert)"or "an extrovert with social anxiety", and honestly it's great being an ambivert.
This is amazing to actually realise where I fit in! I love seeing friends and going out, but I also need days by myself otherwise it all gets too much. I also like to talk to small groups of people and don't mind telling 1 or 2 people about myself but the second a lot of people look at me and listen I get super nervous. :)

I am definitely 100% on the introvert side based off your 5 signs. Sign 1- I agree with nothing on extrovert tests Sign 2- Even when I'm with friends, I get extremely anxious around strangers. I hide in the back and let my friends do all the talking lol Sign 3- I have to mentally prepare myself for hours leading up to a night out. I have to plan things days ahead of time so I can prepare myself for the event. If somebody texts me and says something like, "come meet up with us in an hour!" I will tell them I can't come. Sign 4- I am always the listener, which leads to the annoying questions, "are you ok?" why don't you talk more?" Rule #1, don't ask an introvert why they're so quiet!! We can't help it!! Haha Sign5- I hate being the center of attention. I get really embarrassed and uncomfortable when a lot of people are talking about me or looking at me. Great video Cat! Keep these comin!

I'm an ambivert but I have social anxiety which makes me unable to be around people who are not like, close.. I really want to go out and meet new people but I can't because I get so shaky and uncomfortable.. I hate social anxiety disorder
I think I'm an ambivert too, but leaning towards extrovert. Because I have moods or days when I am super super extroverted. But for the most part, I tend to stay pretty balanced, right in the middle.

I do consider myself having social anxiety tho which I find makes it even harder to put myself into one of those categories bc I feel like I'd be so much more of an extrovert without it... IDEK
Thanks for this video Cat! I always thought that I was just a weird extrovert or that I was just kinda starting to go more toward the introvert side but I can definitely relate to a lot of these things and this fits me a lot more than just being an introvert or an extrovert!
yay :) I definitely consider myself an ambivert. I seriously don't mind being the center of attention with a group of friends but when a huge number of people are listening to me I freak out. I also love going out with friends but if it's for too long or the environment is too rowdy and loud I wanna go home.
99% of this video rang true for me, wow!! ayyy i'm an ambivert. best part was identifying with both of the lists of introverted and extroverted qualities, because every time i take the freakin myers-briggs test i'm right on the cusp and i get a different answer every time. the attention thing was also super true - i looove being in the center of attention with small groups of people that i know really well. yeah! great video.

I think most humans are ambiverts if we follow the bell-curve that human traits usually align to. Its more rare to find people on the extreme ends of the spectrum of being either introverted or extroverted. Good video highlighting the broad 5 categories of being an ambivert. I believe even within being an ambivert there are layers to explore.
I think I'm actually a Ambivert because I can be talkative when needed but sometimes I won't be the first to talk because it makes me uncomfortable

I'm definitely an ambivert I love spending time with people, but after a few hours or so I get anxious and want to hide in my bed. This helped a lot :))

I've always assumed I was an introvert because after some time of being around other people I do like to go home and rewind but this video had made me realize that I'm actually more of an ambivert because all of the things you said I do and I think that's really cool I really love it when you do videos like this I find this kind of stuff very interesting :)

Holy cow I didn't even know these existed, I always said I'm sort of in the middle because I have enough of both but I didn't know it was a thing! I think I'm a tiny bit more on the introvert side, but I'm most certainly an ambivert! I'm so glad I know about this now!
This spoke to me so much. I honestly would be an extrovert if i didn't have anxiety but I do. And I wouldn't say I'm 100% an introvert because like you said if I'm with my friends and we meet new people or do something I'm completely comfortable with it. It's so hard to have to explain to my friends why I didn't seem as outgoing in one situation as I am in another. Thanks and love you so much Cat!!!
i love this video! many of my friends say I am an extrovert which in most cases I am especially with my friends, however, I do get an amount of anxiety when meeting people and sometimes I do go into my shell but because I am an extrovert most of the time they think I am being moody and grumpy but sometimes I just want to keep to myself! This video has been so helpful as I never understood why sometimes I could be loud and bubbly but other times I am not! Thank you Cat! p.s. Im new to your channel and just sitting her binge watching it!

I think I might be an ambivert but I don´t really know how to do small talks and start a conversation. I´m more the tipe that listens so I always thought I was an introvert but I really enjoy going out with my friends and do stuff. So maybe I am an ambivert? I don´t know... xD

This is amazing to actually realise where I fit in! I love seeing friends and going out, but I also need days by myself otherwise it all gets too much. I also like to talk to small groups of people and don't mind telling 1 or 2 people about myself but the second a lot of people look at me and listen I get super nervous. :)
Wow...I think I'm an ambivert but more on the introvert side. I definitely like to do things when I'm with someone I already know, but I'm not afraid of meeting new people. But I can't change based on what others need. I'm more of a listener anyway! :)

I am definitely 100% on the introvert side based off your 5 signs.
Sign 1- I agree with nothing on extrovert tests
Sign 2- Even when I'm with friends, I get extremely anxious around strangers. I hide in the back and let my friends do all the talking lol
Sign 3- I have to mentally prepare myself for hours leading up to a night out. I have to plan things days ahead of time so I can prepare myself for the event. If somebody texts me and says something like, "come meet up with us in an hour!" I will tell them I can't come.
Sign 4- I am always the listener, which leads to the annoying questions, "are you ok?" why don't you talk more?" Rule #1, don't ask an introvert why they're so quiet!! We can't help it!! Haha
Sign5- I hate being the center of attention. I get really embarrassed and uncomfortable when a lot of people are talking about me or looking at me.

I think I'm an ambivert too, but leaning towards extrovert. Because I have moods or days when I am super super extroverted. But for the most part, I tend to stay pretty balanced, right in the middle.
